The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). There is no shower, but there is a portable toilet with a wash station located outside. We do provide a full 5-gallon water cooler for drinking since there is no running water. For cooking there is a 24" Blackstone 2-burner griddle, and small propane cans are provided. Also, the cabin is furnished with a small supply of pots and pans. There is a battery that provides lighting, and phone charging is available in the cabin. During the cooler months, there is a small wood stove for heating, and firewood is provided. The cabin sleeps 2, but there is room for a camper and/or tents. This campsite is meant to be very simple, so you should plan on bringing whatever you may need/want for camping.

This is a secluded, Park Like property with walking trails all the way around it, and some interesting things for kids to spot, especially up Fairy Lane. Walking access is permitted, but you must keep pets on leash and keep an eye on your kids. In the dry season, typically May through the end of September, fires are not allowed, and please USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO SMOKE ONSITE. If you are one of those who just tosses your butts in the underbrush, you will be asked to leave for the safety of our property and guests. There is no smoking allowed inside the cabin, bathroom, or anywhere near the sawmill, or any area North of it. There is a public bathroom in the middle of the property beside the tree fort. It's well lit and open 24 hours a day. It has a flush toilet and a hot water sink and a HOT shower. * PLEASE NOTE To keep from freezing, the instant hot water heater is disconnected, and hot water, and hot showers ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM NOV 15TH TO MAR 1ST. Cold water to flush the toilets and wash your hands is available all year. There is a battery that provides lighting, and phone charging is available in the cabin. During the cooler months, there is a small wood stove for heating, and firewood is provided. The cabin sleeps 2, but there is room for a camper and/or tents. This campsite is meant to be very simple, so you should plan on bringing whatever you may need/want for camping.

Walking access is permitted, but you must keep pets on leash and keep an eye on your kids. In the dry season, typically May through the end of September, fires are not allowed, and please USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO SMOKE ONSITE. If you are one of those who just tosses your butts in the underbrush, you will be asked to leave for the safety of our property and guests. There is no smoking allowed inside the cabin, bathroom, or anywhere near the sawmill, or any area North of it. There is a public bathroom in the middle of the property beside the tree fort. It's well lit and open 24 hours a day. Camp Colton is an awesome place to visit! Their property is large and has a lot of activities to explore (animal petting area, trails on the property, and a fishing pond). They've got a variety of awesome structures including cabins, a tiny home, yurts, and a communal covered fire pit gazebo. The Beehive cottage met my expectations perfectly, it was clean, warm, and tucked into the trees right by a creek that runs through the property. It was perfect for a quick getaway, while providing comfortable amenities during a cold and rainy Oregon fall evening. The bed is perfectly comfortable, and was made prior to my arrival. The host provided towels and linens, I didn't need to bring anything extra. Additionally, there is a covered back patio which is a perfect spot to sit out and listen to the babble of the creek and wildlife spot. I would recommend a stay here!

Just outside of McMinnville you will be welcomed to an area of towering 60ft Ash, Alder, Maple, Oak and both Grand and Douglas Fir. The property is very secluded at the end of a wooded valley and only a few camping spots are opened. The tree canopy keeps the underbrush in check while providing the tree shadows you will seek for Bird watching, local animal life and quality of camping not found outside of the open camping area in the middle of the largest state park. Turning at the Dairy Queen on 99 before sheridan and 10 minutes later you are at the access drive, then to the right of the split on a 1/4 mile shared wooded drive is an open gate, a few trees and an entrance to an old logging road to take you down to a small grove with seclusion and gentle breezes coming from up the year round spring fed stream nearby. The road leads on down to the crossing being restored, some natural photo options and nothing but native oregon plants and shaded grass for a picnic. 2 hiking options are avalible, and one can be guided from there and at the far back end of the property is a barn and a few animals if they want to learn about small animals. The property is very secluded at the end of a wooded valley It is 21 acre forested lot behind a 20 acre forested lot in front and 3 100's acre parcelsaround it without direct view into the camping spots ( minus sunrise oaks that has one side exposed 100 feet away for max sun).

Our property was homesteaded in 1919 by L.T. (Toot) and Doris Evans. We began working on our non-profit, children's program in 1992 and opened to serve kids in 1998. Old McDonald's Farm, Inc. utilizes Farm Program animals, agriculture, gardens and beautiful, natural resources to "teach and reach" children and youth. Learn more about this land: It sits upon a meadow with surrounding trees and a cow pasture in the distance. Spring time offers a small pond (please see below), but the Lewis river is close by with tons of recreational activities (swimming, fishing, hiking, wineries, etc.). There are only two sites, far from each other. It is a rural property with some farms AND residential homes/Airbnbs along the river, so, be aware there are cars that drive through the one lane road. Town is not far (six miles) to get supplies and the Heisson convenience store is less than a mile away. Privacy is better here than at a public campground and it's perfect for a quick trip out of town for a day or two or just a quick and safe stop in your travels. This is a beautiful property and I enjoy sharing it, please be mindful of the rules. *This winter was tough, lots of wind, so some trees fell, but they are all cleaned up and lots of small trees were planted. Can't wait until they grow to help for more privacy!!! Please, read each site description carefully! There is NO electricity or plumbing at the sites. I did install a BPA safe hose for water at the top of the hill for your use (I usually have it on but if not please feel free to message me and if I haven't responded within a half hour please feel free to knock on my door). Site 1 does have a camp toilet (composting bucket with seat and lid) because it is mostly a tent site (some small RVs and trailers can fit). Site 2 is for RVs (and tents with them) that already have a toilet so if you are a tent camper and want to book this site you will need to bring your own camp toilet. Dogs are most welcome, and may be off leash for a run in the field, however, they MUST have high recall. Please be mindful of my own dogs and chickens down below so please do not let them go beyond your site or the field when using. *We plan on making the pond to be a swim pond that will hold water all year long (the creek that runs into it is seasonal so it dries out depending on how much rain we get in any given year). Currently, it is dry.

Last season I focused on chickens- alive (egg layers for your back yard flock) and dead (meat birds in the freezer and available for your camp dinner). Two cows roam the front pasture and my goal is to grow their numbers to be able to improve the soil health here at the farm.. -My tiny home is in the area of the sites, but far enough away to maintain privacy. Otherwise it is a private and secluded area. Because I live on site, I will not allow repeat visits if groups become rowdy or disrespectful. -There is ELECTRICITY and WATER on site. The electricity is through a standard household outlet so an adaptor will be necessary, and possibly an extension cord, depending on where you choose to set up. An outhouse with a compost TOILET and sink are available, but no shower. However, in winter months, the sink will be turned off to protect pipes. Water is still available from an in ground frost free spigot. -There is a FIREPIT for evening musing, don't forget your marshmallows. Firewood is available on site for $10/night with an unlimited supply (or free if you want to gather downed limbs). - There is an old hay wagon converted into a covered picnic area that I call the COWZEBO for use in bad weather. Enjoy a meal here with a great view of the river. - FRIENDLY DOGS are welcome. Know that my dogs also hang out here. We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES: PACK IN PACK OUT: We do not have trash or recycling bins down in the creekside campground so please keep your waste contained and take it with you when you leave. Please do not throw any trash in the porta-potties. 4WD/AWD REQUIRED PAST THE BARN: The steep gravel roads can be tough for some cars and rigs (particularly on the way out) and consequently, can cause a lot of damage to our roads. So for everyone's safety, we have restricted access to only vehicles with 4WD or AWD only. Please do not message us asking us to advise on the vehicle you have. If someone in your party has a 2WD vehicle, they can park up in the entry lot and get shuttled down to the campsites in a 4WD vehicle. If we see a 2WD vehicle in the campground, we will ask you to leave and if we have to dig you out, we will charge a $200 fee. Thank you for respecting our policies and helping us maintain our space. DOG FRIENDLY: We are as dog friendly as it gets here. Unleashed dogs are allowed on this property down by the creek (on-leash required in and around the barn). If you have a fear of dogs, or have dogs that are not friendly with other people or fellow dogs, this probably isn't the right campground for you. Of course, we expect all dog owners to keep an eye on their pets so they don't disturb other campers or ingest anything they're not supposed to. QUIET HOURS: 10pm-9am. We ask that guests keep the noise (loud music and loud conversations) to a minimum between 10pm and 9am. We live onsite and will enforce these if we have to (please don't make us).
