We are located in southern Oregon near Crater Lake NP, just off of hwy 62, part of the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway, more commonly known as the "highway of waterfalls" and near the little town of Prospect on what is known as the beautiful side of Crater Lake NP. Three waterfalls, the Prospect Cafe, and the Historic Hotel are all within a two-mile radius. If you're after that famous pie at Beckie's Cafe, you are 10 minutes close.
Our 100 acre ranch allows us to host guests in their own RV's, at camp/tent sites, or in our new A-frame Cabin all located in private, and even secluded, sites. Several well maintained trails wind throughout the property and can be enjoyed by guests. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking, wildlife viewing, and the beautiful ponds and woods.
Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall.
Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake.
Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you.
The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary.
The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge.
Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. You may also spot the prolific wild hazelnuts. As Forest Stewards, we are committed to maintaining a well balanced and diverse forest ecosystem.

We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. Our children have grown up out here learning a deep respect for nature and the real (non digital) world. Now empty nesters, we live on site. Part of our retirement planning is to spend next several years developing the lower portion of the property (approx. 15 acres) into a campground and retreat for our guests, as well as our own family, friends, and grandchildren.
The campground area (currently) consists of a handful of primitive campsites, and a group area. We are working steadily on improvements, including adding more sites, improving the roadways, and upgrading the common areas. In all we will likely have 12-15 total designated camping areas (including a group area or two, as well as a couple hike to secluded locations).

TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.
Anyone experiencing grief, widows/widowers, can enjoy a respite visit to refuel and support during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.
My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so.

Welcome to the Outdoor Stay Area at FourLeafs, a small forest campground nestled beneath the tall firs of the beautiful McKenzie River Valley. FourLeafs is also home to McKenzie Sound Therapy, where guests may have the opportunity to book a private gong-based sound bath in an indoor or outdoor setting—a unique way to unwind after a day of exploring.
The campground includes three active campsites, each with its own personality. Big Leaf Maple is slightly more open and social near the shared gathering area, Pacific Yew offers a bit more privacy with close-in parking, and the Group Site sits farther from the communal area, providing additional separation for larger groups and neighboring guests.
Flat parking areas and easy site access make FourLeafs especially comfortable for tent campers, car campers, and small camper vans. Travel trailers, tow-behind campers, and RVs cannot be accommodated.
The heart of the campground is a shared gravel gathering area with rustic log seating, ambient string lighting until 10:00 p.m., and a central table for meals, games, and conversation. During fire season, no wood, charcoal, propane fire pits, or recreational fires are permitted. Guests may bring an approved propane or liquid-fuel camp stove for cooking. Smoking is permitted on gravel only and with extreme caution.
Tent sites are covered with wood chips for a softer night's rest. Drinking-water-safe hose water is available throughout the campground.
Nearby you'll find McKenzie River access, Horse Creek, hiking, mountain biking, waterfalls, scenic drives, whitewater rafting, fishing, nearby hot springs, Tokatee Golf Club, and Cascade mountain pass exploration.
Wildlife sightings are common and may include deer, elk, foxes, and a wide variety of birds. If you enjoy birdsong, you'll likely fall in love with the Swainson's Thrush, whose beautiful calls echo through camp each morning and evening.
The property is also home to the Hygge A-Frame retreat cabin, available separately on Airbnb and Vrbo.

The Ranch has 1/2 mile of Nestucca River frontage where you can swim or fish, whichever floats your boat.
Niagara Creek/Pheasant Creek falls is a nearby hiking trail and there are roads as well as deer and elk trails to explore all over the ranch. If you feel like venturing further, the beach is 23 miles away in Pacific City. Tillamook is 25 miles.
We also offer pasture raised pork for sale. A variety of sausages (breakfast, chorizo, Italian, Bratwurst and French Garlic links) and pork chops.

Crater Lake is very much open! Only one trail is closed - so ignore the news posts saying the lake is closed for 3 years - because it isn't... Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland runs through most of October and the Britt Music Festival in Jacksonville has an open-air music venue with tons of concerts June - September. So many wineries here and check out the waterfalls and hiking trails in the area. Oregon Caves is open May - September. Let us know what adventures you are seeking and we can help you find the ones available in our amazing area... Don't forget about the jetboat rides on the Rogue River May - September which are hugely entertaining and the river and scenery are unforgettable. The Dinner cruise is always a favorite. Hint (Be prepared to get wet).
Elk Haven Ranch consists of 40 acres at the base of a mountain range that is BLM federal land. The Hidden Forest Get-Away campground is spacious and rural where so much wildlife, birds and even an occasional elk herd or family of deer can be seen. This property is a haven for them all, no hunting is allowed.
If you are looking to throw a Frisbee with your dog in a forested and meadow setting, without tons of campers right next to you, then this is your place. Room to roam, fresh air to breathe and clean water available at your site April through September. Easy access to a common electricity plug-in where you can charge your cell phones and air mattresses on the electric pole by the entry gate. A common comment we hear from our campers is how much they love using the open air "hot water on demand" shower - at night - looking up at the stars. It's pretty amazing. The porta potty is kept clean and is privately situated, yet convenient. There's tons of firewood available to purchase for only $5 and a cart with wheels you can use to cart the wood easily to your camp site.
If you are looking to play games, just ask us for the corn hole or horse shoes, or help yourself to the games already out and available.

Lori's farm is incredible. Both sites are very private, far away from anyone. We brought our dogs and like to let them wander off-leash; we always worry a bit about them bothering other people. There's no problem doing that here; you've got ~300 yards (3 football fields) between each campsite, and much farther than that to any other property. We were a larger group, so we actually rented both campsites; they're both great. The river is a 15-second walk from Site 1 (you can hear the river in camp; it's a literal stone's throw from where you sleep), while at Site 2 you're 10 yards from the river's edge. That said, Site 1 gives you a bit more room to explore a wooded area and has the pyramid (which part of our group liked sleeping in, so they didn't have to set up a tent).
I noticed only one negative review mentioning a "weird vibe with burned area"...I'm constantly astounded by people, to say the least. There was a small brush fire due to a city-owned powerline that #1 very fortunately got put out quickly and #2 you can barely tell occurred -- I think there are two trees that have black markings at the base. How that could bother anyone on a huge farm with hundreds of trees is mind-blowing. But hey, I won't complain about this place having more availability :)

Lori's farm is incredible. Both sites are very private, far away from anyone. We brought our dogs and like to let them wander off-leash; we always worry a bit about them bothering other people. There's no problem doing that here; you've got ~300 yards (3 football fields) between each campsite, and much farther than that to any other property. This was a fanatic trip! The late season meant we had the entire campground to ourselves and it was magical. We got to explore every nook and canny of the place and agree it's out new favorite place. We definitely plan on being back quite a bit next year. The creek is amazing and totally walkable. Bring able to purchase firewood and ice on site was invaluable. The host was very responsive and staff was super friendly. We really enjoyed our trip.

Sweet property in the foothills. Tiny Cabbose very cozy. Sauna,hot tub and cold rinse all good. Clubhouse in the common area if you want tv and tunes. Quiet after dark.

Host has put a lot of intention and care into the grounds. She is responsive and absolutely willing to help, though we didn’t need anything. It’s clean and homey with breathtaking views! We do not have 4WD and easily navigated the roads, with a trailer on our 24ft RV. Though, we can see how it might be challenging with winter or early spring weather. Would absolutely stay here again.

What Cheryl and Tom have built here is truly amazing and awe inspiring. Usually when I camp, I spend nights at my campsite and go out for the day to do activities, this spot was so amazing that I spent all my time there, and even wished I had more time when I had to leave. If anyone is in need of respite or rest, this is the spot! Best sleep and relaxation I’ve had at a campsite or resort. The view of all the mountains and sunsets is superb. Cheryl is very responsive, welcoming, and kind.
