The property is located just on the outskirts of the town of Portland, Indiana. It is a country feel with the nearby conveniences of town. Laundry mat, Walmart, Dollar Tree, city parks, and a variety of restaurants are within 2 miles. The property features my beautiful 1950's red brick home, and 2 restored red historic barns surrounded by farm fields. Parking is always available in front of the barns on gravel. When the ground isn't too soft, you can also park within the couple acres of open, mowed ground behind the barns. 30 amp electricity is available near the barns. New for 2025 we have our own flock of chickens and will usually have fresh eggs available. The flock includes roosters, so you may get an early morning wake up call! Leashed pets are welcome.

Our beautiful 1800’s cabin was moved to the property in the 1970’s by a former neighbor who owned the property at the time. The same neighbor also had a historic train depot moved to the property where she sold antiques out of for several years. It is not sure what the cabin was used for at that time but it certainly added charm to the antique store property. When we acquired the property years later, the cabin was in need of work. It sat for a few years until we decided to restore this lovely cabin back to it’s beautiful charm and character. Jim spent a couple years on the project working in his free time and added the porch using old wood in keeping with the natural look and feel of the cabin as well as some interior areas. Upon completion, we opened the cabin as a gift shop selling unique items including antiques, primitives and decor for a few years. We decided to transition the cabin into a place of retreat for traveling guests and still keep some of the goods we sold in the shop available for purchase. At Cabin and Company, you will be parked beside this beautiful cabin and will be allowed access at your leisure for a place to sit and relax. (No overnight sleeping allowed inside) Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea (provided) while watching tv or on our covered porch outside. You may also select a movie or two from our large selection of DVDs or find a book to read among our stash of books. The barn drive offers a view of the creek area about 100 feet away and is about 175 feet from the patio common area. WiFi covering the entire camp and all cellular carriers work great here. 30 Amp electrical in many spots. White tank water fill is available in select locations. Plenty of room for tow vehicle at your camp site.

7 Mile Road (Height restriction 10' 6" and very sharp turn to bridge)

A suggested route from traveling North on State Route 127 to Camp Rocky Run is to turn in Camden, OH on State Route 725 and head East to Wayne Trace Road.
!! NOTE on RV types !! You must have a self contained RV with on board restroom facilities. We have no restroom facilities available. For this reason, we do not offer tent camping.
!! NOTE on camp fire location !! The fire ring provided on the shared creek side patio is the only spot a camp fire, of any kind, can be built. (Sorry, but we have had too many damaged spots in the grass from the use of 'portable' fire ring units.)
!! NOTE on Class A RVs with towed vehicle !!
If it is too wet to access the creek side spots, we can still accommodate your stay in the nearby barn driveway but if you are unable to back up with the 'toad' then a detach will be required. Again, this is only if it is too wet to access the creek side camp spots. You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a fish in this pond! Swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, cornhole, small beach area for the little ones, and 2 acres of wooded trails for those who enjoy a peaceful walk. Wildlife is abundant and they prefer to be left alone. Please stay on the trails to preserve all vegetation. If you see a fawn or other babies, please do not touch these animals. Momma will be back! If you see one in distress, please contact the host.
The community area at the gazebo offers a charcoal grill (charcoal available for purchase), seating, electric outlets, and water. Please be considerate to other guest while using this area. Trash receptacles are available at different areas on the property.

Yellow Springs: With a bike trail that is part of a 360 mile paved system in southwest Ohio and 2000 acres of preserved woodland to the east, Yellow Springs is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Explore over fifty small locally owned boutiques featuring one of a kind merchandise from handcrafted pottery to custom designed jewelry to designer shoes. A truly unique shopping experience.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The campsites felt private and secluded, making it the perfect peaceful getaway. The views of the water and surrounding farmland were beautiful, especially in the mornings and evenings. We spent hours exploring the woods, relaxing by the creek, and enjoying all the wildlife around the property.
The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful from start to finish. They made us feel right at home and even offered to show us around the farm and trails. If you’re looking for a quiet nature escape with amazing scenery and great hospitality, this is the place. We will definitely be back!

The site was very peaceful, and hearing the horses while enjoying the fire was nice! The firewood bundles are generous and there's plenty of stores nearby if you happen to forget something while packing, or accidentally ruin a camp meal 🤣 I would definitely recommend this site for a relaxing getaway!

This was the perfect secluded getaway. Peaceful, and the creek provided great sleep sounds. My dog absolutely loved the open space and freedom to explore—it made the experience even more special for us. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, making sure everything was comfortable without being intrusive. Overall, a truly great camping experience. Will be returning :)

Can not say enough good about Grey Oaks. This property is absolutely stunning. Very private. Excellent host. The cabin was just perfect for a quick getaway. Highly recommend and would definitely revisit.

We loved the space! The sites are far enough away from each other they feel private, and the bathrooms were close. We loved the shared space of the pond, kayaks, sand pit, and patio. Even got to have our girls fish for the first time!

We loved this space! There was so much to do, the bathroom was great, and we loved the little shop there too its snacks and last minute essentials. It’s also a 10min drive from a Walmart if you need anything else.
Having Steve help haul our stuff to the campsite in the golf cart was a massive plus.

This is a great Hipcamp host and property. Incredible creek side views a plenty of area to walk along it. If you enjoy primitive and private camping.this is it. I can’t wait to return! In addition to the scenery the resident farm dog Iris is a fantastic host, social director and guide. She knows all the best places to swim and sit in the shade. She really enjoyed sharing snacks and water with my dog buddy Belle.

The site is wonderful! A nice private space on a beautiful property. Camping next to the water was so relaxing. The hosts are friendly but not at all intrusive. Some of our plans were cut short by rainy weather, but if we are in the area we will definitely be back.

Cozy & eclectic space. The Lyra hoop is super fun…wished we didn’t need to hit the road as I would have played on it for longer 😊 We loved the decor & peaceful surroundings outside. Very nice host. She hosts workshops & sells handmade items— again, with more time I would certainly partake. Breakfast was appreciated & was one less thing to worry about for us before continuing on our drive!

I almost want to keep this spot a secret for myself, but I won’t be greedy. It has everything I could want in a campsite: a huge fire pit, a picnic table, a heady-duty table with propane stovetop, a swing overlooking a shallow creek, and an outhouse. Well-maintained trails and very close to Sycamore State Park. I believe they only have one campsite which is super nice when you’re looking for some quiet time away from people : )
