Weekend Trip to Artemis Gardens BnB

Lisa was great! Very kind, great communication, just all-around lovely person! Her place was sweet and welcoming - out in the country and away from the noise of the city, yet just a short drive to town, restaurants, stores, etc. She made wonderful breakfasts for us, as well as a special dessert for our anniversary - shaped in a heart! We definitely will be back and highly recommend her place!

We loved staying at Shawn’s place. The kids had a blast playing on his G Croquet course. It is quiet and very well kept. Having a dumpster right there as you leave is huge. We had a great stay and will definitely be back. You can tell he loves having you and we enjoyed a great night out at the campfire. Definite must stay!!

Fabulous space, reminds me of the home of a good friend. Lisa was a wonderful host, gorgeous property inside and out, and she made a wonderful breakfast as well. We are in the middle of a three day drive to our new home and this was a safe and comfortable place to rest for a night, late check in was no problem either.

We loved the property! Very private and secluded. Our family of four, and two pups, absolutely had a blast. The kids loved floating, swimming, and fishing in the pond. Mary was a great host!

Weekend Trip to Sky Lake Camping & Fishing

Loved the spot. Was a bit hard to find-GPS doesn't tell you that you have to turn right on Opposum Road again to find the entrance. Next issue is recognizing that this is RIGHT NEXT TO a traditional RV campground. Even the host's personal instructions were a bit unclear. If you go left at the second "fork," as directed, you end up in the campground. What they call a first fork I would call a 90 degree right turn. When we came in at 8 pm, the couple who came to greet us in a golf cart asked if we were looking for the campground and we respondeded yes, thinking they meant Hipcamp. Very confusing. Once you get there, it's beautiful.

Lisa has created a wonderful, relaxed bed and breakfast experience. The little log cabin is picturesque with gorgeous big windows looking out onto the property. The bedroom was cozy, charming and clean. We had a lovely time socializing with Lisa and the other guest staying there, both of whom were dog lovers- fantastic for us, since our little dog was with us. Lisa also sells her handmade soaps (we bought five or six!) and beautiful artwork. Lisa was the perfect host and even made us a delicious homemade breakfast at 6:30am before we had a long drive ahead of us.

The campsite was everything we expected and more! The tree canopy over the camp site provided so much shade over the campsite that we were comfortable during 90* weather! Many activities provided! Would stay again.

Great secluded camping site!!! There was a very large tree that was perfect for two tents and the picnic table. The fire pit was under a beautiful star filled sky and the pond was perfect and gave our dogs a chance to wade/ swim. Great spot, we will definitely be back.

Camping here was amazing! Heather and her family were very welcoming and made sure we felt comfortable on their land. Seeing all the fish in the ponds was definitely a unique experience. My family and I loved it! There was plenty of space for our 2 young boys to run and get some energy out after a long drive. Lighting a camp fire at the edge of one of the ponds on a clear night was a perfect way to end the day. Thank you Heather and family! We are already thinking of a time when we can return to enjoy your land once again.

This 5 acre property is loaded with activities! The stocked pond (catch and release) is a great place to teach your kids how to fish. You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a fish in this pond! Swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, cornhole, small beach area for the little ones, and 2 acres of wooded trails for those who enjoy a peaceful walk. Wildlife is abundant and they prefer to be left alone. Please stay on the trails to preserve all vegetation. If you see a fawn or other babies, please do not touch these animals. Momma will be back! If you see one in distress, please contact the host. The community area at the gazebo offers a charcoal grill (charcoal available for purchase), seating, electric outlets, and water. Please be considerate to other guest while using this area. Trash receptacles are available at different areas on the property. Fresh eggs and produce will be available when in season. Please ask if you are interested. Campsites are located in the woods and are primitive. Sites include picnic table, fire pit, and trash can. Campers have access to a bathroom with a shower that is located in the basement of the cabin. All campers need to check-in with the on-site owners. All gear can be transported with a golf cart. Dogs are harmless but do bark when they do not know you... City of Springfield is less than three miles away. A Sheets and Loves Truckstop are 300 yards away with the Loves having a dump station. Next door to this property is a BP Station and Carryout. The Loves Truckstop has a Wendys, Subway, and dog park. Sheets also has a food court. All within walking distance. Great location as Columbus is 30 min to the east, Dayton is 25 min to the west. 13 min to I 675 and 20 min to Interstate 75 N/S. I 71 N/S Columbus is 35 min away in downtown Columbus... NOTE: Little over a quarter of a mile off of Interstate 70, and on a State Route, If looking for absolute silence and desolation, this is not for you. Back off of the road but all the sounds carry.....

Good Knights Reserve

Good Knights Reserve is located in Union County, Ohio just on the outskirts of Marysville. With a total of 60 acres, you'll have nothing but peace and privacy on the back 15 acres of the property. A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site currently offered. Here you can pitch your tent, build a campfire, catch and release a few fish from the pond, or choose to sit on the floating dock with your feet in the water. A shooting range for target practice is available or take a short walk through the wooded trail. The camp site sits next to a wooded wetland so you'll fall asleep to the sound of croaking frogs and various other creatures communicating back and forth. A clean porta-john is close by and a small charcoal grill and picnic table with seating for 8 is available. With miles of sandy beaches, bird-filled marshes, and wooded shoreline, there’s enough space for everyone at Indian Lake State Park. Bring your own boat, jet ski, or kayak and set out to explore, go fishing, or cool off with a swim. If you don’t want to get wet, there are several short hiking trails, as well as a paved bikeway, or you can drive over to discover the islands on the south shore. Indian Lake State Campground has electric hookup, full hookup, and tent-only sites, many of which are right by the lakeside, as well as nine boat camping sites.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve one of the park’s 451 campsites via the Reserve Ohio website.
Campsite reservations open from 7am, six months in advance for all campsites.
Campsites can book up fast, so book as early as possible, especially if visiting during peak season or on holiday weekends.

When to go

Day-trippers and campers descend on the lake in the summer months, and the park can get busy, especially on weekends. Expect crowds at the campground and picnic areas. Camping is possible year-round, although some sites close in winter. Bird-watching is best during the spring and winter migrations, while off-season campers can enjoy seasonal activities such as ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

Know before you go

Indian Lake State Park is northwest of Columbus, about a 1-hour 10-minute drive away. The main entrance to the park and campground is on the north side of the lake, but the park also encompasses the Moundwood area at the south side and the lake islands.
