The property is located just on the outskirts of the town of Portland, Indiana. It is a country feel with the nearby conveniences of town. Laundry mat, Walmart, Dollar Tree, city parks, and a variety of restaurants are within 2 miles. The property features my beautiful 1950's red brick home, and 2 restored red historic barns surrounded by farm fields. Parking is always available in front of the barns on gravel. When the ground isn't too soft, you can also park within the couple acres of open, mowed ground behind the barns. 30 amp electricity is available near the barns. New for 2025 we have our own flock of chickens and will usually have fresh eggs available. The flock includes roosters, so you may get an early morning wake up call! Leashed pets are welcome.

Property is an former farmstead. There are two beautifully restored historic barns on the property that, along with my red brick home, highlight the property. The property is a long narrow lot with a couple acres of open, mowed grassy space to enjoy behind the barns. Campfire space is available back here. An hill with an interesting history crosses the back of the lot at an angle. The hill is the remnant of an old railroad line that was only in service for a short period of time. The engine for the line was shipped to Europe for war and the line was never put back into service afterwards. The ship carrying the engine never made it as it sunk in the Atlantic in route. Most of the farmers tore the rail line hill out, but this section remains in place. Parking is always available on the gravel areas around the barns. The grassy, back lot is flat, but low in places. When the ground isn't too wet, you may also choose to park to camp on any of the grass behind the barns. A 30 AMP electrical plug-in is available outside one of the barns. If you need water hook-up, we can connect to the faucet in one of the barns. Property is only 1 mile to Portland - laundry mat, Walmart, Dollar Tree and several restaurants are all just up the road.

Easy setup and helpful host

Farmstead Camp Spot - 15 AMP hookup

We had a great stay! The setup was a breeze, and Audrey was incredibly helpful throughout the process. What We Loved: Easy Setup: Setup was easy and Audrey was very helpful. The electric hookup was conveniently close, and Audrey even provided a hose extension since the water was a few yards away. It was a unique experience waking up to the sounds of the chickens and crowing rooster. There is also an abundance of grass to hangout if that's what you're looking for. Could Be Improved / Important Notes: The actual spot I stayed on (15amp) was part of the rock driveway. The turkeys are a bit curious and hopped onto my truck and camper. I was worried their talons might damage the cloth. However, after messaging Audrey, she quickly put them away which eased my worry. Overall Impression: Audrey was a very responsive and accommodating host. I would book again if heading to that area.

A Farm Stay at Its Best

Farmstead Camp Spot - 30 AMP

We had a lovely weekend stay on Audrey's farm. It was picture perfect with rows of corn as privacy and a lush open lawn space to walk the dogs. The nighttime sky was completely unobstructed making way for a blanket of stars. Set up was incredibly easy, and we'd absolutely recommend a stay here to a friend.

We totally enjoyed our eclipse experience here. The space had wonderful views and was very well maintained. Lushest grass I have seen in a while. The host was welcoming, friendly and accommodating. I would totally recommend this hip camp!!

Farmstead Camp Spot - 30 AMP

We found Audrey’s listing with only a two hours notice and she accepted us right away. She lives just outside of Portland’s city limits and right down the road from a really nice park and a Walmart if you need anything. Her property is BEAUTIFUL! It was super simple to just pull in and park, hookup up electric and water, and relax. We have two little boys, 5 and 3, and she brought one of her bulldogs out to play. Audrey is very nice and friendly. You won’t be disappointed if you need a place to stop through for a night or two!
