McKee Farm is rich in memories and rich in history. It has been in the family for over 150 years and we were told that it was one of stopping points for the underground railroad. The 240 acre farm boasts a hidden cave, wide open fields, breathtaking forest land, and historic and rustic barns. Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep. Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner. Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures). The lighting over our back field is divine in the late afternoon, or if you prefer a wooded setting, we have a small wooded area across the street from our house. The area is hilly and rather private-- only one neighbor is visible when the trees are leafed out. Electric is accessible from an outlet at the backyard fence or in the barn. We often have fresh veggies and fruit in the garden in the summer, and sometimes extra farm fresh eggs. Nearby (10 minute drive) is Hargus lake, with boat rental and fishing. Also nearby is the Slate Run Historical Farm, (15 minute drive) which is a farm that is fully functioning as a farm from the 1880's with sheep, draft horses, hogs, and poultry at Slate Run Metro park, which has many woodland and wetland trails, as well as a covered bridge and several playgrounds. We are about 35 minutes from the Hocking Hills area, which is one of the most beautiful and unique areas in Ohio.

4 nights at Camping with Unruly Goats

This is the second time we have stayed with Unruly Goats. We had another trip planned out but it fell through at the last second. Our last minute reservation was easily accommodated and our stay was quiet, quaint, and filled with lots of fun animals. Communication with the host was a breeze. The site was clean and well kept. The porta-potty was clean and available even during winter. The animals were curious about our set up but never overbearing and never messed with our stuff. Parking was easy and made set up a breeze, no need to hike to your site. Thanks for another great stay!

The pond is quite large and had a canoe, two kayaks and a paddleboard for us to use

Weekend Trip to The Lake at the Flying J Farm

I've stayed at Flying J now 5+ times, and have stayed at sites 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The only one I wouldn't choose again is 3, as it's the site right in the open by the boat dock (as Richard clearly describes in the site profile). Site 1, 5, and 6 are all great sites in the woods. 1 and 5 have nice lake views, and 6 is up on a little bluff with farther views of the lake through the trees. Site 4 is the one you cannot drive to as it's across a small earthen dam. It's got more of an open view of the lake than sites 1, 5, and 6. Again, all the sites are great and Richard is an awesome host!

PJ and Michelle always offer wonderful hospitality. They have spent a great effort into updates to the cabin, such a new flooring on the first floor and new furniture. It feels very homey and relaxing. It is a great place to relax, recharge and catch up with family or friends. We look forward to this weekend every year!

3 nights at Ashcraft Hills

What a great place. So much to explore. I enjoyed it greatly. The cabin is cozy, and there are acres of privacy; the scenary is beautiful. There is plenty of space inside the cabin for people to walk around, get comfy, and eat a hearty meal. The upstairs has 2 beds that are at queen-sized. There are plenty of books and DVD movies, a wall-mounted TV, 2 big sofas (3 seat and 2 seat), a massive bean bag, and a dining table. The restroom includes a toilet, sink, bathtub shower, and a washer and dryer. The kitchen has a mini fridge with a freezer, dual sink, microwave, gas stove, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of pots, pans, and dishware. There is plenty of heat to keep you warm in the wintertime. The place is very clean - vacuums included. Wi-fi and cell phone signals are not really accessable at the United Cabin but they are at the host's home property, which is a 3 min drive away. Nearby, there is a small pond, a cornfield, plenty of hills, and forests with trails. Thank you Michelle and PJ for sharing your Cabin with us.

Weekend Trip to Ashcraft Hills

We stayed at the A-frame this past weekend and absolutely loved it! The place was super clean and had literally everything we needed (we definitely overpacked 😅). There was plenty of firewood for us, which made hanging out by the fire so nice. PJ was awesome — super friendly, available if you need anything, and honestly willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. When we arrived, a few lights weren’t working, and he was super concerned it might ruin our stay. He even offered to come fix them right away, but it really wasn’t an issue for us at all. We also loved that we could bring our dogs! They had the best time running around off leash and exploring. Cell service isn’t great out there, but honestly, that was exactly what we needed — the perfect little disconnect. This was our first time using the Hipcamp app, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. We’d 100% come back again!

Weekend Trip to Countryside Corner

Thanks to Michelle for making my first-time Hipcamping a breeze! She greeted me just as I pulled in and showed me to the best spot for my car camping. Appreciated the nearby private toilet and got to use the firewood and fire ring my second night. Nights were peaceful and mornings so pretty with the field of fog! Wish I had been there during the daytime to meet the goats - another time!

I'll tell you, the pictures are great but they don't do justice to the peace and comfort this place brings. When we arrived the camp host told us to ask for anything we needed, and they held true to that. The property has tons of places to hike. Everything around you is gorgeous. The beds are comfy, and the cabin is warm. There's no wifi or cellular signal, which was a benefit in my opinion.

We booked the Bison Tipi Retreat for a last minute, late season trip to Nether’s Flint Quarry and I am so glad we did! The property is beautiful and unique to most stays one may find. We really enjoyed watching the bison eat by the light of the moon and hearing the creek that is nearby. The kitchen supplies were adequate for cooking our meals. The tipi was roomy. The camp toilet was clean and had no smell. We are already talking about a trip here next year! This was a great break from the hustle of everyday life.

We loved camping here on top of the ridge! The site was beautiful, private, and with the UTV service was easy to access and transport our gear. The host was very responsive and kind, and was an excellent host. He got us more firewood when we needed it and even offered us farm fresh eggs. The bike trails near by were also excellent and provided a very fun weekend.

My kids and I had an absolute blast camping at Tullihas in the Trees! It's just as amazing as it looks in the pictures and so much more! The beds were unquestionably comfy, the cabin very well appointed, and despite the freezing night temperatures, the little heater in the corner kept us toasty warm without a struggle. My kidds loved the swings, I enjoyed the hammock quite a bit, and that was easily the nicest latrine I've seen in my 30+ years of camping. A perfectly sized cabin for a family of three!

Weekend Trip to Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch Creekside Retreat

This was the perfect place for our first time camping with two girls and our dogs. we were with a two year old (in a blow up toddler mattress), a 9 month old (in a pack and play) and two German shepherds on a dog bed. It all fit spaciously in the tipi. The amenities were great for cooking over the fire (that cast iron skillet is awesome!). And the toilet was SO CLEAN! Omg! We loved walking around the space and being able to see the bison from our site was top notch.
