The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. In our many camping adventures over the years our favorite campgrounds were in our National Forests. We have built the campground with that "feel" of a forest experience.
Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself!

The 7 Principals of Leave No Trace
*Plan Ahead and Prepare
*Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit.
*Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies.
*Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use.
*Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups.
*Repackage food to minimize waste.

*Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
*Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
*Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
*Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
*Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
*Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light.
Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires.
Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand.
Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes.
Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience.
Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail.
Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock.
Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors.
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises.
These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. Need a lift to your campsite? We'd be happy to give you (and your gear) a ride right to your campsite so you don't have to worry about carrying everything in. Just let us know when you'll be arriving. Weather permitting, all-wheel/4-wheel drives are welcome do drive right out to your site.
You'll notice that our property is also home to horses. They live and graze freely on the land, so from time to time, they may wander near your campsite. The horses are gentle and friendly, and many guest enjoy their quiet company during their stay. We do ask that you admire them respectfully. Please don't feed them, and give them space if they get curious and come close. They're part of the land's charm, and we're happy to share their presence with you.
Old School Farm and Workshop is a 40-acre modern homestead located in the heart of Ohio's Appalachian Country. We are 10 miles from Salt Fork State Park, Ohio's largest State Park and Ohio's Bigfoot Capital. While there, visit the new Eco-Discovery Center. Boating? We are only 6 miles to the Morning Glory boat ramp. Take your kayak on the Tuscarawas River, Simonds-Heller Park is only 13 miles away. Ride bike on the Great Guernsey Trail or check out their self-serve Kayak rental kiosk. We are at the back door of Ohio's Amish Country, and only a 45 minute drive to one of the largest conservation centers in the world, The Wilds. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn and surrounding property with animals and greenspace.
The Camp Cabin:
Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed!
The cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay.
The Farm Property:
Pet and interact with goats and other farm animals. The goats and chickens love it when guests bring them tortilla chips, crackers or vegetable scraps. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and around the property.
Guests are welcome to use any of the common areas for fires or grilling. Quiet hours are from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The Barn:
The barn has a recreation area with basketball, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and swings. The climbing wall is off limits to guests. This facility is open May through October.
The barn is available for parties for an additional fee, depending on the size of the group. We have seating for up to 60 guests. Please note that the barn is not climate controlled (no air conditioning in summer, but the doors open and we have fans). The barn is closed November through April.

McKee Farm is rich in memories and rich in history. It has been in the family for over 150 years and we were told that it was one of stopping points for the underground railroad. The 240 acre farm boasts a hidden cave, wide open fields, breathtaking forest land, and historic and rustic barns.
Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep.
Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy.
The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time.
Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table.
Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone.
In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

I started this 2 acre homestead! It is home to myself, my four dogs, turkeys, and some chickens. I’m very close to all the creature comforts like Walmart and Target, but the property is wooded on three sides so you feel like you’ve gotten away from the city. There is a small creek my dogs love to play in and a large field for frisbee and star gazing. There are hikes close by at Little Turtle Pond and many restaurants within 10 minutes like Woodys for breakfast and dinner at NauitiVine. If you enjoy boating Nimistila Reservoir (electric only very kayak friendly) and Portage Lakes are a quick 12 minute drive. I look forward to meeting you soon!

We loved camping here! The camping spot was so nice with the wooden base for our tent and the picnic table. They put flowers on the picnic table which was very cute. Also everything you need for a fire and cooking over the fire. The outhouse was the best outhouse we’ve seen hipcamping. It was so clean and had extra supplies. The land is also beautiful for walking and hiking. The hike was hard but worth it through the forest. It was all maintained very well. We saw the horses when it started to get dark and they did come to our campsite while we were sleeping which was very cool. They are a very sweet couple who made sure you have everything you could need during your stay and we will definitely be coming back! We had a great time here.

The camping sites was beautiful and peaceful with a great location right by the river and easy access which was a huge plus. The host was very friendly, informative and helpful through out our stay. If you enjoy fishing, definitely bring your fishing rod and don’t forget your water or riding equipment. You’re next to the flowing river, you’ll regret not taking advantage of it. We had a wonderful experience and would defiantly recommend this campsite!

I love solo camping/traveling with my dogs whenever I can. I have a high pressure job and am always looking for peace whenever I can get away. That is exactly what I found at this beautiful property. You feel like you are in your own little nature preserve away from all the stress of the normal day to day.
It was the perfect escape.
Jim and Tracy are very respectful of your privacy and also so friendly and so helpful with everything.

Great spot to camp and fish.. very clean and secluded spots that have incredible views of the river. There’s one site that has access to launching kayaks which was nice. There’s also another launch within walking distance.

We loved getting to experience a mixture of rustic and glamp-ing at The Camp Cabin!
It was perfect to have an actual roof while it stormed during our stay—my husband’s favorite part was hearing the rain hit the tin roof. There was plenty to entertain our busy busy 6yo. We would definitely recommend!

Andy does a great job maintaining the campsites. It’s a short 10 minute drive to the site from the highway, and there is no traffic noise. Firewood on site is a huge plus. Bring your kayak or canoe!

We absolutely loved this place! It was beautiful, peaceful, and truly felt like a real experience in nature. We especially loved that it wasn’t the typical campground packed with RVs. We really felt connected to nature and enjoyed every part of our stay.
If you’re someone who truly enjoys being outdoors and having an authentic nature experience, this is the perfect place. Please keep it just the way it is—no RVs! We will definitely be coming back. It was also very easy to find.

Great place to go if you want peace and quiet. Right along the river, fishing and swimming right from your site. Andy was amazing, making sure we had everything we needed. If we needed anything just to let him know! Amazing place, we will definitely be coming to stay often.

Peaceful, secluded, and clean. My 7 year old said it was lovely and we loved the tree swing. Mark is the best, so helpful and kind. They have done a great job with this place. We found our new camping spot for sure!

We absolutely loved our stay here! They truly went above and beyond all of our expectations! The property is meticulously kept, the horses are so gorgeous, everything couldnt be more perfect here! With just a quick cell phone call they even rescued us with their side-by-side at 5:30am when the thunderstorm became too much to bear! Couldn't recommend this camp enough and they have earned us as campers for life!

**A Wonderful Little Getaway**
We absolutely loved our stay at The Camp Cabin! ❤️ From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The cabin was cozy, peaceful, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway.
One of our favorite little surprises was the **dollar hunt game in the cabin!** It was such a fun and unexpected touch, and we had a great time looking around to find them and then hiding them for the next guest. It made the stay feel even more special and fun. 😊
We also loved being able to bring our three dogs along! 🐾🐾🐾 They absolutely loved having all that land to explore and enjoy. It was so nice watching them run around and have just as much fun as we did.
The property is beautiful and peaceful, making it so easy to slow down, enjoy nature, and just unwind. You can really tell the hosts put a lot of thought and care into creating a special place for their guests—and their four-legged guests too!
We had such a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend The Camp Cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, a little adventure, and a place where you can truly relax. We can't wait to come back! ❤️🌿🐾
