The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn and surrounding property with animals and greenspace. The Camp Cabin: Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed! The cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay. The Farm Property: Pet and interact with goats and other farm animals. The goats and chickens love it when guests bring them tortilla chips, crackers or vegetable scraps. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and around the property. Guests are welcome to use any of the common areas for fires or grilling. Quiet hours are from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. The Barn: The barn has a recreation area with basketball, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and swings. The climbing wall is off limits to guests. This facility is open May through October. The barn is available for parties for an additional fee, depending on the size of the group. We have seating for up to 60 guests. Please note that the barn is not climate controlled (no air conditioning in summer, but the doors open and we have fans). The barn is closed November through April.

The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

Going in the pastures with horses while unaccompanied by the owners is prohibited; however, it can be arranged for you to meet and interact with the mustangs if interested. There are other farm animals including a sheep, a goat, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, ducks and barn cats on the premises. Weekend Trip to A-frame rustic cabin

wow, what an inspiring place to get away. the landscape is stunning, and the cabin even more so. jim’s incredible thoughtfulness and attention to detail made this spot feel like a home away from home. the area is very clean and well maintained. my husband and i were only able to stay for one night, but we will definitely be returning! next time, we’re excited to check out the surrounding attractions that the hosts mapped out in the welcome book. cant reccomend jim and tracy enough, thank you both!

I enjoyed my stay. I liked the deck in the back of the cabin. I'm glad I brought a good pair of hiking boots and warm blankets. As long as you not a person who expects their cabins to be hootell room then I think you will like it. If you are a tent camper and don't wanna worry about pitching tent this perfect or if you are used to glamping and wanna try something less polished this good for that to.

We last minute decided to go camping and found this cute little spot! It was a very much needed break from the stress of the "real world" and we loved everything this place had to offer. Getting to sit in a hammock and listen to the birds was awesome, the hummingbirds got close enough to hear their wings buzzing. We spent a lot of time around the fire, identifying different bird calls, and listening to the spring peepers at night. We brought a few of our own things and bedding to make the cots extra cozy, but they provide a lot for you such as different ways to light the fire, a bug zapper, and a solar powered port with USB slots! It was super cozy and great for the soul. We will absolutely be back 🤙🏻

This spot is amazing! The cabin is nested up a small hill that is by a creek, its super private and peaceful. You have the site all to yourself. Its very well equipped for a comfortable camping stay. We were on a tent camping streak and days were rainy and this gem is just what we needed to give us a break. Hosts were really welcoming, attentive and thoughtful. It was also inspiring to read about the cabin’s story and how it all came together in the manual. They were also really generous with the first free bundle of woodfire they offered, along with all the little attentions and details left for us. You can tell they are campers themselves and that they really put their heart in taking care of the place. Check in was smooth and simple, instructions were clear, communication was good. Our only regret is we couldnt stay longer. One of the best quality price deal we’ve found on hipcamp so far! Thanks so much Joe!

2 nights at Shady Owl Ranch

Stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and to relax after life chaos. My only regret was not staying longer. We stayed with our dog Sally, who is 100000% a city dog and has never seen chickens or turkeys. She did great. Her scariest moment was the paddle board moving in the wind or Tommy (the turkey) yelling at me to get out of the cabin HAHA. We stayed in the songbird cabin and it was perfect waking up to the pond out front and the roosters/Tommy's calls (I already miss those guys!!). The trails are perfect with lots of wild flowers and cute stump decor throughout the trails. The amenities were perfect and just what one would need for a get away...and the beds, they were the comfiest ever (even better than ours at home) so not only will you relax from the atmosphere, but you will get a great night's sleep. We added on the eggs and honey; highly recommend as they are worth it! My favorite part was definitely Tommy and the chickens! They gave us some needed joy we needed at this time. Though, if you try to befriend a chicken...they will trick you and say no while the others by the barn laugh leaving you embarrassed HAHAHAHA. We will definitely be back throughout the year as a relaxing home away from home. Highly recommend staying more than 2 nights!

2 nights at Ashcraft Hills

This is our second time staying here. We have a nonverbal 10 year old so it can be difficult to find places that are safe to camp with him. This place is perfect! They've added wifi, a gravel driveway, hardwood floors and a beautiful sliding door that opens up The entire cabin. We love that there is a washer and dryer because our boy loves to play in mud and get dirty. They have everything you could possibly need. The owners are super nice and accommodating! Walk the trails, play in the creek, enjoy the fire and forget about the world for a few days !

2 nights at The Wild Pines Of Ohio

We ended up booking last minute to celebrate our anniversary here. Tom was not only able to get us booked but also had the tent ready for us even earlier than the check in time. The tent was supplied with everything we needed and was very clean. We loved the outdoor area and spent most of our time relaxing out there. Had the area all to ourselves since it was in the middle of the week and the other cabin wasn’t occupied. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

Weekend Trip to Canvas Cottages Glampsites

The place was easy to find and the hosts were very nice people. So much to do that you can just enjoy a whole vacation being there. Tipi was really cool with all the amenities provided. Cooking was a lot of fun there as you have a tripod and an assortment of cast iron pans and a grill nearby with plenty of camping cooking supplie and general kitchen items. Spirit, the host dog, had a very friendly demeanor and snoot boops were 10 out of 10

3 nights at A-frame rustic cabin

Jim and Tracy were very generous hosts ...they've carved out a beautiful little corner of the world and included this cozy rustic cabin with thoughtful detail. I spent three peaceful nights there alone, getting to take in the natural scenery, complete with a lovely lake very close by. During my stay (around mid-May) I could hear all the way from the cabin porch the little cascades and riffles from where the lake rushes into what looks like a small creek. You'll hear a plane overhead once in a while as well as occasional commuters along the main road mainly in the morning and evening; otherwise, it's pretty quiet for stretches at a time (even quieter on the weekend). I didn't see or hear a single person the entire time, except one vehicle that had clearly made a wrong turn and went right back out. Most sounds are just the wildlife, the wind in the trees, and the water. It was very easy to find, and check in went very smoothly. If you have to park at the entrace, it's not a far walk to the cabin ...only about 100 feet up a gentle incline. The toilet is located in a hunting blind and very clean. I have T-Mobile and got service, though I kept my phone off for most of my stay (and downloaded the area in Google Maps just in case). I'm a solo female traveler and felt very safe here. If you're thinking about getting away for a while for some peace and quiet, don't hesitate to book this site!
