Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike to the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Immerse yourself in nature alongside a working farm! Our 15 acre property has many features. Enjoy hiking trails, a small 3 season creek, rock walls and large boulders, trickling waterfalls and caves if you're feeling adventurous. (The cave is currently an off trail experience, is only accessible at certain times of the year and requires steep hiking and some climbing large rocks.) An abundance of wildflowers and native flowering trees grow amongst the beautiful rolling hills of forest. In spring the wildflowers paint the landscape, in the summer the fireflies compete with the stars in a sparkling symphony and in the Fall colors fill the trees. You will experience true darkness, bright stars and the simplicity of being out in the country. We are a small homestead raising much of our own food. It's likely you will be greeted by dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, pigs and a cow. The property is adjacent to hunting club land, which means hundreds of acres of undeveloped, wooded and wild. Wildlife is abundant, including coyote, fox, bobcat, turkey, raccoon, hawk, owl, (reportedly) bear and lots of deer. Most are nocturnal, so you may hear them rather than see them, but they are near. Our livestock guardian dog keeps the pasture occupants safe, but that means nighttime barking. We provide noise machines in the cabin for white noise and you are welcome to bring a small fan. We live in a rural neighborhood, so there will be occasional sounds from other dwellings, there is a dog rescue across the street and although infrequent, you might hear ATV's and gun shots from down the road. There are copperheads snakes in the area as well as black widow and brown recluse spiders. You will not likely see them but it is wise to wear boots and stay on the trails. The cabin and campground currently share a composting toilet/outhouse with a space for hanging a shower bag (you must bring your own shower bag). There are 5 gallon jugs of water for filling shower bag, hand washing station and dish washing. There is a Berkey water filter in the cabin, but campers will need to bring their own drinking water. Please be aware that you may have minimal cell service during your stay and there is no wifi. The best place to get a good cell signal is the parking lot. The town of Amesville is filled with personality and is just 7 miles away. With a convenience store, park and a wonderful restaurant, Parks Place, which serves American fare cooked with a chefs flare and local ingredients. There is also a community studio that offers yoga and other fitness classes. Amesville hosts Coonskin Saturdays from May to October with music, food, classes and more on the Third Saturday of each month. The city of Athens is 20 miles away, with many restaurants and shops, ample grocery stores, movie theaters etc, as well as the beautiful campus of Ohio University. Strouds Run State Park and several Nature Preserves are within 15 miles of us, Baileys Bike Trail System is 20 miles away, Burr Oak is 25 miles away, and Hocking Hills State Park is 50 miles away. It is a spectacular area with so much to offer in the way of hiking and other nature related activities.

Buena Vista Rd is one exit after Oppossum Hollow if you are heading East on 33 and also one exit pass 374 if you are heading West on 33. GPS will usually route you onto Oppossum Hollow Rd or State Rte 374. The State Rte 374 route will have you turn onto Oppossum Hollow. Oppossum Hollow road is a one lane unlined rd and is not the best for RVs. Taking Buena Vista Rd will only add about a mile and a few minutes to your trip. Be advised Buena Vista is a very curvey road but is traveled by large vehicles all the time. Just take it slow and you will be fine. We have a dully truck and 45 ft rig that we bring in and out just fine. If you are coming in from the South (Chillicothe area.) From State Rte 180, please take Jack Run Rd. This is also a paved two lane road. All other roads in the area are single lane rds and are not the best for RVs (don't use Middlefork, Long Run, Stump Run, or Clapper Hollow off of State Rte 180). Our doors opened in September 2020 with the intention of creating a simple, yet functional and secluded space for individuals, couples, and groups to come together and enjoy the serenity of nature's beauty. We are one of Ohio's only openly clothing optional and naturist friendly rentals. You of course do not have to be naked during your visit, but it is a safe place to explore the naturist lifestyle if you've ever been curious! We're located about 25 minutes south of Athens, Ohio and are within 30 minutes of some of the best hiking in the state. Learn more about this land: Come get cozy in the private and secluded hills and hollows of Pomeroy, Ohio! Only 25 min south of Athens, but a world away from work, hurry, and distractions. Retreat into nature with us and return to your inner peace and wellness. WiFi free zone with 1-2 bars of reception, typically. Ohio's only openly clothing optional and naturist friendly rentals. Pet Friendly!  Dogs under 65 lbs acceptable as well as cats and other animals. Please provide pet info in request.  Maximum 2 pets, please be honest about this and do not bring more animals into this space. Guest parking is at the front gate of the property. Be prepared to walk and carry all of your belongings up a steep hill that is about 50 yards long. To access the queen bed in the loft, you will need to be able to assemble and hang up a ~40 wooden ladder to the loft. There is no outdoor lighting, so if you plan to arrive after dark, bring a bright flashlight or head lamp as you will not be able to see anything. The cabin is stocked with spices, teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and all you need to cook meals. There is a microwave, toaster oven, crockpot, and propane grill. Please DO NOT flush toilet paper. Put in lined trash bin.

A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike to the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. Immerse yourself in nature alongside a working farm! Our 15 acre property has many features. Enjoy hiking trails, a small 3 season creek, rock walls and large boulders, trickling waterfalls and caves if you're feeling adventurous. (The cave is currently an off trail experience, is only accessible at certain times of the year and requires steep hiking and some climbing large rocks.) An abundance of wildflowers and native flowering trees grow amongst the beautiful rolling hills of forest. In spring the wildflowers paint the landscape, in the summer the fireflies compete with the stars in a sparkling symphony and in the Fall colors fill the trees. You will experience true darkness, bright stars and the simplicity of being out in the country. We are a small homestead raising much of our own food. It's likely you will be greeted by dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, pigs and a cow. The property is adjacent to hunting club land, which means hundreds of acres of undeveloped, wooded and wild. Wildlife is abundant, including coyote, fox, bobcat, turkey, raccoon, hawk, owl, (reportedly) bear and lots of deer. Most are nocturnal, so you may hear them rather than see them, but they are near. Our livestock guardian dog keeps the pasture occupants safe, but that means nighttime barking. We provide noise machines in the cabin for white noise and you are welcome to bring a small fan. We live in a rural neighborhood, so there will be occasional sounds from other dwellings, there is a dog rescue across the street and although infrequent, you might hear ATV's and gun shots from down the road. There are copperheads snakes in the area as well as black widow and brown recluse spiders. You will not likely see them but it is wise to wear boots and stay on the trails. The cabin and campground currently share a composting toilet/outhouse with a space for hanging a shower bag (you must bring your own shower bag). There are 5 gallon jugs of water for filling shower bag, hand washing station and dish washing. There is a Berkey water filter in the cabin, but campers will need to bring their own drinking water. Please be aware that you may have minimal cell service during your stay and there is no wifi. The best place to get a good cell signal is the parking lot. The town of Amesville is filled with personality and is just 7 miles away. With a convenience store, park and a wonderful restaurant, Parks Place, which serves American fare cooked with a chefs flare and local ingredients. There is also a community studio that offers yoga and other fitness classes. Amesville hosts Coonskin Saturdays from May to October with music, food, classes and more on the Third Saturday of each month. The city of Athens is 20 miles away, with many restaurants and shops, ample grocery stores, movie theaters etc, as well as the beautiful campus of Ohio University. Strouds Run State Park and several Nature Preserves are within 15 miles of us, Baileys Bike Trail System is 20 miles away, Burr Oak is 25 miles away, and Hocking Hills State Park is 50 miles away. It is a spectacular area with so much to offer in the way of hiking and other nature related activities.

Buena Vista Rd is one exit after Oppossum Hollow if you are heading East on 33 and also one exit pass 374 if you are heading West on 33. GPS will usually route you onto Oppossum Hollow Rd or State Rte 374. The State Rte 374 route will have you turn onto Oppossum Hollow. Oppossum Hollow road is a one lane unlined rd and is not the best for RVs. Taking Buena Vista Rd will only add about a mile and a few minutes to your trip. Be advised Buena Vista is a very curvey road but is traveled by large vehicles all the time. Just take it slow and you will be fine. We have a dully truck and 45 ft rig that we bring in and out just fine. If you are coming in from the South (Chillicothe area.) From State Rte 180, please take Jack Run Rd. This is also a paved two lane road. All other roads in the area are single lane rds and are not the best for RVs (don't use Middlefork, Long Run, Stump Run, or Clapper Hollow off of State Rte 180). Immerse yourself in nature alongside a working farm! Our 15 acre property has many features. Enjoy hiking trails, a small 3 season creek, rock walls and large boulders, trickling waterfalls and caves if you're feeling adventurous. (The cave is currently an off trail experience, is only accessible at certain times of the year and requires steep hiking and some climbing large rocks.) An abundance of wildflowers and native flowering trees grow amongst the beautiful rolling hills of forest. In spring the wildflowers paint the landscape, in the summer the fireflies compete with the stars in a sparkling symphony and in the Fall colors fill the trees. You will experience true darkness, bright stars and the simplicity of being out in the country. We are a small homestead raising much of our own food. It's likely you will be greeted by dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, pigs and a cow. The property is adjacent to hunting club land, which means hundreds of acres of undeveloped, wooded and wild. Wildlife is abundant, including coyote, fox, bobcat, turkey, raccoon, hawk, owl, (reportedly) bear and lots of deer. Most are nocturnal, so you may hear them rather than see them, but they are near. Our livestock guardian dog keeps the pasture occupants safe, but that means nighttime barking. We provide noise machines in the cabin for white noise and you are welcome to bring a small fan. We live in a rural neighborhood, so there will be occasional sounds from other dwellings, there is a dog rescue across the street and although infrequent, you might hear ATV's and gun shots from down the road. There are copperheads snakes in the area as well as black widow and brown recluse spiders. You will not likely see them but it is wise to wear boots and stay on the trails. The cabin and campground currently share a composting toilet/outhouse with a space for hanging a shower bag (you must bring your own shower bag). There are 5 gallon jugs of water for filling shower bag, hand washing station and dish washing. There is a Berkey water filter in the cabin, but campers will need to bring their own drinking water. Please be aware that you may have minimal cell service during your stay and there is no wifi. The best place to get a good cell signal is the parking lot. The town of Amesville is filled with personality and is just 7 miles away. With a convenience store, park and a wonderful restaurant, Parks Place, which serves American fare cooked with a chefs flare and local ingredients. There is also a community studio that offers yoga and other fitness classes. Amesville hosts Coonskin Saturdays from May to October with music, food, classes and more on the Third Saturday of each month. The city of Athens is 20 miles away, with many restaurants and shops, ample grocery stores, movie theaters etc, as well as the beautiful campus of Ohio University. Strouds Run State Park and several Nature Preserves are within 15 miles of us, Baileys Bike Trail System is 20 miles away, Burr Oak is 25 miles away, and Hocking Hills State Park is 50 miles away. It is a spectacular area with so much to offer in the way of hiking and other nature related activities.

GPS will usually route you onto Oppossum Hollow Rd or State Rte 374. The State Rte 374 route will have you turn onto Oppossum Hollow. Oppossum Hollow road is a one lane unlined rd and is not the best for RVs. Taking Buena Vista Rd will only add about a mile and a few minutes to your trip. Be advised Buena Vista is a very curvey road but is traveled by large vehicles all the time. Just take it slow and you will be fine. We have a dully truck and 45 ft rig that we bring in and out just fine. If you are coming in from the South (Chillicothe area.) From State Rte 180, please take Jack Run Rd. This is also a paved two lane road. All other roads in the area are single lane rds and are not the best for RVs (don't use Middlefork, Long Run, Stump Run, or Clapper Hollow off of State Rte 180). We loved camping out here! They provided basic everything you could think of. Flashlights, cutlery, extra blankets, extra water, firewood, candles, you name it! They even have cooking equipment and spices available. We arrived later than anticipated the first night and they had started a fire for us ahead of time in the wood stove. It got down to about 35⁰ one night and the wood stove kept us plenty warm! That combined with the candles made it all super cozy. We didn't hear or see another soul the entire time we were out there, but we did see plenty of wildlife. Overall it was a wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend!!

I had a lot of fun on this trip! The dome was nice and comfy even though there were a bit of ladybugs inside seeking warmth I assume. I didn’t mind either way because being in nature comes with the bugs. speaking of warmth, the heater kept us warm throughout the night even overheating us at points until we realized there was a temperature set on it. I’m very glad that accommodation was there for the cold. I do suggest getting there before it starts getting dark so you can get a fire going for light when nighttime comes. Even though the bathroom is a bit of walk (as expected with camping), it was a very nice bathroom and well kept. Definitely bring some flashlights or have your phone with you for light because there isn’t too much lighting provided outside except for some lamps and ground lights here and there along the trail to the dome. The area around the dome and the dome itself felt very private and secluded so it really made you feel immersed in nature. I saw some reviews saying all they heard were cars because it is next to a road, but the dome is up in the hills so there were barely cars driving by and I didn’t notice them. I also saw reviews saying the dome in right next to the owners home and it didn’t feel private. Even though I saw the home in the distance, They have fences built around the dome to ensure campers’ privacy. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and suggest it for anyone looking for a getaway. One night was a relief from our unnaturally busy lives!

This was a really peaceful and chill experience. We came out to get away from the city and it was a perfect little retreat. The stay was well accommodated and the dome tent was such a fresh and easy way to camp. Even though it rained, we stayed dry and the next day was lovely enough to enjoy some of the great natural hikes in the area.

We booked the Bison Tipi Retreat for a last minute, late season trip to Nether’s Flint Quarry and I am so glad we did! The property is beautiful and unique to most stays one may find. We really enjoyed watching the bison eat by the light of the moon and hearing the creek that is nearby. The kitchen supplies were adequate for cooking our meals. The tipi was roomy. The camp toilet was clean and had no smell. We are already talking about a trip here next year! This was a great break from the hustle of everyday life.

Very nice! Cabin was tidy and absolutely lovely for the price it was. It stayed warm all night even with how cold it was. The property was beautiful, plenty of firewood and interesting stuff to see. The owners were very kind! Cows were adorable, and their dog was sweet too. Definitely keep any pets close, because we heard a bunch of coyotes right on the ridge! We got steaks from their little store, which were also great and priced very well. Overall a great trip, just wish we could have stayed longer!

This was the perfect place for our first time camping with two girls and our dogs. we were with a two year old (in a blow up toddler mattress), a 9 month old (in a pack and play) and two German shepherds on a dog bed. It all fit spaciously in the tipi. The amenities were great for cooking over the fire (that cast iron skillet is awesome!). And the toilet was SO CLEAN! Omg! We loved walking around the space and being able to see the bison from our site was top notch.

Site also has huge grassy tent area you can expand into with large fire-pit - comes with the camper so no neighbors. Owner’s family goes back to the original log cabin, that is still there off one of the trails. Owner has made his own private preserve, He was interesting, respectful and responsive. Camper pdf had all the details you need. Easy drive to Marietta Ohio River historic areas, shopping, dining, activities, and Wayne NF trails. No cell or WiFi but it comes in as you drive down the road. Unplug and enjoy!

Dogwood Cabin is an off grid experience. Think glamping. It is set on 25 acres in the rolling hills of Morgan County in southeast OH, close to the village of Chesterhill. Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has Ron's Convenience and Restaurant where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is another neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.

Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike to the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.
