The property is located just on the outskirts of the town of Portland, Indiana. It is a country feel with the nearby conveniences of town. Laundry mat, Walmart, Dollar Tree, city parks, and a variety of restaurants are within 2 miles. The property features my beautiful 1950's red brick home, and 2 restored red historic barns surrounded by farm fields. Parking is always available in front of the barns on gravel. When the ground isn't too soft, you can also park within the couple acres of open, mowed ground behind the barns. 30 amp electricity is available near the barns. New for 2025 we have our own flock of chickens and will usually have fresh eggs available. The flock includes roosters, so you may get an early morning wake up call! Leashed pets are welcome.

Welcome to Narnia! Or Atlantis!? Or... The Property? The Hidden Valley? We just haven't committed to a name yet so it's a little bit of everything all rolled into one! 8 acres on the magical Ganges, er, White River makes for a fun time. You can expect a certain amount of privacy while still potentially making a new friend or two depending on the night. You will be nestled under some giant sycamores, cottonwoods, black walnuts, catulpas, and a mess of bush honeysuckle that is always being battled! We have 2-3 sites directly on the river and then scores throughout with trails, hills, and other interesting features. Multiple firepits though I CANNOT guarantee firewood. There is often plenty to collect or available on site but if you can bring your own that'd be safest bet!
We are (somehow) located partially inside Muncie city limits right on the river. Yes you may occasionally hear some trains or even particularly loud cars while camping deep in the woods but this is the tradeoff for a one mile drive to bars, restaurants, and groceries! Best of both worlds. The Muncie Eagles, whose nest resides directly across the river from us, do not seem to mind! This location is also directly on two main bike trail routes and our trails are fun for low impact mountain biking! We also have a small armada of kayaks/canoes on site; IF arranged that option does exist for cost of transport! We have 2 porta potties on site as well and fresh water hose available at main house.

Rocky Run Creek is a tributary to Seven Mile Creek in Preble County, OH
Small creek near residential area. Choice of wide open spaces, partial or full shade spots available. Short walking trail along the creek line is maintained. 'Rocky Cross' Geocach nearby. Please be aware that if we have had a lot of rain, the creek side spots may be too wet and difficult to get back up the hill with the wet grass. If this is the case, we do have the gravel barn driveway that can accommodate your stay. During peak busy season, the barn drive may have additional guests due to site, weather or general camping conditions. The barn drive offers a view of the creek area about 100 feet away and is about 175 feet from the patio common area. WiFi covering the entire camp and all cellular carriers work great here. 30 Amp electrical in many spots. White tank water fill is available in select locations. Plenty of room for tow vehicle at your camp site.

If traveling here from the South (only on Ohio State Route 127), please note the height restrictions on three roads that connect SR 127 with the parallel Wayne Trace Road. The names of the roads to avoid:
Consolidated (Height restriction 9' 9" under the railroad)
Brower (Height restriction 10' 0" over Seven Mile Creek)
7 Mile Road (Height restriction 10' 6" and very sharp turn to bridge)
Please watch what route electronic devices may may pick avoiding these routes.
A suggested route from traveling North on State Route 127 to Camp Rocky Run is to turn in Camden, OH on State Route 725 and head East to Wayne Trace Road.
!! NOTE on RV types !! You must have a self contained RV with on board restroom facilities. We have no restroom facilities available. For this reason, we do not offer tent camping.
!! NOTE on camp fire location !! The fire ring provided on the shared creek side patio is the only spot a camp fire, of any kind, can be built. (Sorry, but we have had too many damaged spots in the grass from the use of 'portable' fire ring units.)
!! NOTE on Class A RVs with towed vehicle !!
If it is too wet to access the creek side spots, we can still accommodate your stay in the nearby barn driveway but if you are unable to back up with the 'toad' then a detach will be required. Again, this is only if it is too wet to access the creek side camp spots. Generally we will be able to help you back in, but at times we may be away and suggest a helper in guiding you into the barn drive. Note, the barn driveway is not a pull through site.

Awesome host and site. My first time RV camping. Just picked up a new camper and wanted to give it a shakedown for an evening before leaving the area. Stopped at a State Park not far away. Was super packed and didn't want to embarrass myself as a new camper. Shawn was able to accommodate on very short notice. Site was level, had all needed amenities and then some. But most of all, was very pieceful. Made learning the camper very easy. Site was also very well maintained. Would definitely recommend. Shawn set the bar high for future hipcamp stays.

Greatly accessible for my son in a wheelchair.. the amenities there were helpful and relieved alot of stress. Utensils provided for fire cooking absolutely helpful. Lighting, electrical, heat and a/c all there to make comfortable even with changes in weather.

This was by far the best camping spot that my friends and I have found 🫶 Not only was the actual site so beautiful, but the rest of their land was as well. The shower was great, the bathroom was clean, and we had fun visiting the animals. This sweet little camp ground was adorable! Each site was private but you were well immersed in nature. There was easy access to a bathroom and little basement shop and the wood and kindling was dry despite the rain! The gentleman who showed us to our site was lovely and we learned it was named after the moon landing. Had a great time here! 😆

Yesterday was nothing but rain and storms. We had a couple breaks here and there but made the most of it back at the campsite. From the moment we arrived, our hosts greeted us with a golf cart for us and our luggage. A super nice gazebo where we hung out and played games, listened to the rain, a little farm, kayaks, paddle boats, cornhole, ax throwing, multiple trails to walk on. We wish the weather was better so we could have a campfire but there’s always next time 😉 our hosts was very informative about updating us with weather updates and where we needed to go if it got severe enough. The communication was top tier.

My family enjoyed our stay at the Firefly Nest. We are not big campers, so we needed a site that could better suit our inexperience. The Firefly Nest provided that with a roomy tent that made sleeping adventurous, yet comfortable, an inviting firepit with firewood, and a very nice step up from a campground outhouse. The development of the trail is a great plus for the site. It's a great place for some quiet time. Hopefully our next trip provides some better weather (less rain!).

This was my first time using HipCamp and it was incredible. I stayed here for 5 nights while I attended a 5 day health and wellness conference.
The family who owns the property are so kind, thoughtful and helpful. They made me feel comfortable right away.

The site and piece of property is beautiful. As someone who loves camping the site was more than I could ever expect. Large, extremely private, peaceful, all the sounds of nature with a toilet and shower near by.
While visiting the shower I got to say hi to a cow and turkeys which day my morning.

Maybe it was just my unlucky night, but the traffic noise (some local motorcyclists) was quite audible at the site.

I booked another night just to relax at the camp site for one more day. Hummingbirds feeding on the honeysuckle near my site was a huge highlight!
