You'll notice that our property is also home to horses. They live and graze freely on the land, so from time to time, they may wander near your campsite. The horses are gentle and friendly, and many guest enjoy their quiet company during their stay. We do ask that you admire them respectfully. Please don't feed them, and give them space if they get curious and come close. They're part of the land's charm, and we're happy to share their presence with you.
Old School Farm and Workshop is a 40-acre modern homestead located in the heart of Ohio's Appalachian Country. We are 10 miles from Salt Fork State Park, Ohio's largest State Park and Ohio's Bigfoot Capital. While there, visit the new Eco-Discovery Center. Boating? We are only 6 miles to the Morning Glory boat ramp. Take your kayak on the Tuscarawas River, Simonds-Heller Park is only 13 miles away. Ride bike on the Great Guernsey Trail or check out their self-serve Kayak rental kiosk. The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. Edge of the Ledge Camp is a 4 site primitive campground located in a mature oak hardwood forest that offers bright light under a full forest canopy. In our many camping adventures over the years our favorite campgrounds were in our National Forests. We have built the campground with that "feel" of a forest experience.
Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself!

The 7 Principals of Leave No Trace
*Plan Ahead and Prepare
*Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you'll visit.
*Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies.
*Schedule your trip to avoid times of high use.
*Visit in small groups when possible. Consider splitting larger groups into smaller groups.

Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
*Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
*Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
*Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
*Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
*Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
Leave What You Find
Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light.
Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires.
Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand.
Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes.
Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience.
Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail.
Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock.
Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors.
Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises.
These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s. This relationship continues today. The principles are based on and informed by scientific research in the fields of recreation ecology and human dimensions of natural resources. Purchased in 2019, these overgrown acres are now a federally registered Farm with the crop being Trees, and have a 10 year Woodland Stewardship Management Plan with the Ohio Dept of Natural Resources. I will be working hard over the years to bring this back to a healthy stand of mixed hardwoods, full of wildlife habitat, and native vegetation. 2024 saw the start of our EQIP contract which includes killing the non-native invasives, like Tree of Heaven, Autumn Olive, Honeysuckle, and more. 2025 was planting, staking, and tubing of 800 tree seedlings, including Black Walnut, Red Oak, Scarlet Oak, Sugar Maple, Persimmon, and Tulip Poplar. 2026 we will be planting another 600 native trees and shrubs consisting of 55 species!

Enjoy approximately 10 wooded acres with hiking trails cut throughout.
A common area has a Fire Ring, Outhouse, Water Station, Picnic Tables and Seats, where you can socialize with fellow campers, whether they be family, old friends, or new acquaintances.
Or you can retreat a short distance away to your own campsite, for some alone time. The two campsites are adjacent to each other, but divided by walls of brush and newly planted shrubs. You may hear other campers, but your space is well defined. It is approximately 100 ft from the center of one campsite to the next, and a similar distance from the center of each campsite to the common area.
Hiking trails are cut throughout the woods, so feel free to explore. Just stay within the wire fence lines to avoid crossing onto neighboring private lands. The main pond seen from the parking area is off limits for liability reasons. I am working on a smaller ravine pond in the woods, which I will stock with fish for feeding.
This is a Federal and State managed Woodland, so please do no harm to any living tree or plant. Feel free to pick up any dead wood for use in the fire ring. (Cut Firewood also provided for free at campsite. Do not bring your own firewood.) We have a self serve store, that will have charcoal, farm fresh eggs, and other seasonal and camping items. Bring some cash.

While this is a working ranch with farm animals, our aim is to create a peaceful relaxing environment in order to unwind and enjoy the creation around us. Going in the pastures with horses while unaccompanied by the owners is prohibited; however, it can be arranged for you to meet and interact with the mustangs if interested. There are other farm animals including a sheep, a goat, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, ducks and barn cats on the premises. This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn and surrounding property with animals and greenspace.
The Camp Cabin:
Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed!
The cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay.
The Farm Property:
Pet and interact with goats and other farm animals. The goats and chickens love it when guests bring them tortilla chips, crackers or vegetable scraps. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and around the property.
Guests are welcome to use any of the common areas for fires or grilling. Quiet hours are from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The Barn:
The barn has a recreation area with basketball, foosball, air hockey, ping pong and swings. The climbing wall is off limits to guests. This facility is open May through October.
The barn is available for parties for an additional fee, depending on the size of the group. We have seating for up to 60 guests. Please note that the barn is not climate controlled (no air conditioning in summer, but the doors open and we have fans). The barn is closed November through April.

Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep.
Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy.
The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time.
Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table.
Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone.
In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

We loved camping here! The camping spot was so nice with the wooden base for our tent and the picnic table. They put flowers on the picnic table which was very cute. Also everything you need for a fire and cooking over the fire. The outhouse was the best outhouse we’ve seen hipcamping. It was so clean and had extra supplies. The land is also beautiful for walking and hiking. The hike was hard but worth it through the forest. It was all maintained very well. We saw the horses when it started to get dark and they did come to our campsite while we were sleeping which was very cool. They are a very sweet couple who made sure you have everything you could need during your stay and we will definitely be coming back! We had a great time here.

The camping sites was beautiful and peaceful with a great location right by the river and easy access which was a huge plus. The host was very friendly, informative and helpful through out our stay. If you enjoy fishing, definitely bring your fishing rod and don’t forget your water or riding equipment. You’re next to the flowing river, you’ll regret not taking advantage of it. We had a wonderful experience and would defiantly recommend this campsite!

I love solo camping/traveling with my dogs whenever I can. I have a high pressure job and am always looking for peace whenever I can get away. That is exactly what I found at this beautiful property. You feel like you are in your own little nature preserve away from all the stress of the normal day to day.
It was the perfect escape.
Jim and Tracy are very respectful of your privacy and also so friendly and so helpful with everything.

I was looking for a relaxing birthday getaway and am so glad I found the Wild Pines! The pups and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pine Cove. The site and the rest of the property was beautiful, and you can tell how much thought and pride Tom & Melissa have poured into this place. The site had everything we needed and more…we are used to primitive/tent camping, so the amenities here were so nice to have!
We enjoyed exploring the property, relaxing by the fire, and just being immersed in Nature. It was so quiet and lovely, and exactly what we needed. We even got to experience a cozy evening in the tent listening to a summer thunderstorm.

My son and I bicycled the OTET and stayed at Turkey Hollow Campground on Day 4 of our ride. We came off trail onto Routes 92 to 83 to 102 (which is a gravel road). Route 102 from this direction is kind of tough, but shorter, steeper, and more direct to the campground. There is also a switchback going to the campground once you leave 102. We met our friendly host, Matt, upon arrival. Once you are there, the tent camping area is fabulous! Spacious flat area, soft green grass, tall trees provide shade, picnic tables, fire pits, port-a-potty near the barn, and barn kittens to play with! The water was good, with no sulfur smell we had encountered at other campsites (we are used to municipal water). The showers are quite interesting and definitely make for funny memories of staying here - in a good way - you just have to have a sense of humor. He also has two nice cabins with woodstoves, if tent camping is not your thing. Leaving the next morning, we followed Matt’s directions of turning right out of his driveway and followed Route 102 to 58 – all paved and down hill – to the traffic light across from Walmart. We cut through the parking lot and used the Amish Access Road back to the trail. We made a quick stop at Jitters Coffee House before crossing at the traffic light – great muffins and coffee! Happy and safe pedaling!!

We loved getting to experience a mixture of rustic and glamp-ing at The Camp Cabin!
It was perfect to have an actual roof while it stormed during our stay—my husband’s favorite part was hearing the rain hit the tin roof. There was plenty to entertain our busy busy 6yo. We would definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved this place! It was beautiful, peaceful, and truly felt like a real experience in nature. We especially loved that it wasn’t the typical campground packed with RVs. We really felt connected to nature and enjoyed every part of our stay.
If you’re someone who truly enjoys being outdoors and having an authentic nature experience, this is the perfect place. Please keep it just the way it is—no RVs! We will definitely be coming back. It was also very easy to find.

Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch
When we booked this place, we were very excited because we read all the glowing reviews. I can say that it still exceeded our expectations in every way!!!!! The host could not have been more gracious, kind, and welcoming to us. She is an absolute gem.
The cabin was lovely, and I kept forgetting that we didn't have a sink in there because it has every other amenity you could ask for! Air con, a heater, electricity, comfy beds, even wifi for goodness sake! The horses and other farm animals were absolutely lovely, so cute and silly.
I recommend that you bring binoculars to see the beautiful wildlife at the pond, pillows, bug spray and maybe a citronella candle, and you will have the absolute best time EVER!
