Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana. Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish. The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota.
While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

Our Cabin # 2 “Old Phil” Is located on the west side of the lake in a 15 acre woods. About 1-1/2 miles away is Our cabin # 1 “Little Elk” Is located near the little Elkhart River. Nestled in its own 10 acre woods. Both of these properties are primitive ( no running water in an out house for a bathroom). Firewood is provided and there are trails in the woods to walk. The Mirror lake property has been a family farm for over 185 years. There is a family cemetery that dates to 1832. If you want to be around a lot of people in the fast track this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, tranquil, social distance but still enjoyed this is the place for you!

Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast.
We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods.
Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles!

I absolutely loved this place. Titus welcomed me as soon as I arrived, and showed me around. I had planned to go out and see the area on my second day but I was so comfortable and relaxed at my site that I couldn’t bring myself to leave. The sites are private, the animals are so cute and the property owners provided everything I could have needed.

Upon arrival Titus showed us around and was available if we needed anything. The only downside was that the water station was a bit farther of a walk than we had anticipated.

As of today this is our favorite camping site, can't wait to go back. Titus was an awesome host! We cannot think of anything he could change to make it a better time camping. Free firewood and brought right to our site. We loved hearing about how he started this camping area. He has a place to use the restroom and also has a shower available. There is a pound for fishing. Sheep can run free at times and we loved watching them. It is surrounded by Amish farmers with cows, horses and beautiful landscapes! He also has chickens and kittens. Thank you Titus for a wonderful and peaceful retreat!

Weekend Trip to Sheepy Acres
The Fisherman's Wharf cabin at Sheepey Arcres is our "Happiest Place On Earth." We have visited many times, living our time there more after each departure. Titus, and family, are amazing hosts, being genuinely concerned about your stay. The fresh air, lack of light pollution, and calm quiet moments make it "our" spot. I can't recommend Titus' cabin and hospitality any more to anyone considering a stay. (If you do opt to fish make sure you have strong enough line for the few 'lunkers' in the pond!!) Titus is a very thoughtful and attentive host and the property is extra special. We enjoyed morning coffee with the curious cows checking things out and every now and then the timid herd of sheep and lambs would swing by. Great wooded camp site (wood chip trail) with a nearby rustic but private toilet, sturdy firebox with cooking grate, firewood and plenty of space for hammocks. Central shower also available. Titus made the rounds every morning to check on the bathrooms and make sure things were clean and dry. Very flexible to allow us a late checkout. Lovely spot at a good price for what all it offers.

Host gave us the info we needed to know and let us be.
There’s a flowing river and you can have a great time playing around fishing etc.
people will go by on kyaks so be aware lol.
Mosquitos weren’t crazy bad. Nice big fire pit. Very primitive so be prepared but we brought a camping toilet and was fine.

We rented the cabin, the starlight hut and a tent site for a small family get together and everyone loved their stay. We all felt welcomed. We enjoyed staying here - Marla was so kind and flexible. She allowed us to switch from campsite 3 to 6, a bit more space. The bathroom was well kept, the hammocks were lovely to hang out it, and we enjoyed the opportunity to rent out the pool. All and all a great experience!
