THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK! 1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm. 2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time. 3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots 4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use. 5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property. 6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns. 7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers 8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours 9. A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1). ***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

We also have the option to book all our sites for a 15-person retreat, with special extras only available for that booking, including a pavilion teepee tent. Portable toilets are available, pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted. Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

3 nights at Fruitdale Farm

We were a group of moms on a long weekend getaway, and Fruitdale Farm couldn’t have been a better choice. This cabin is so full of sunlight and cheer. It’s well-appointed with the things you’ll need, and the private deck overlooking the pond is such a peaceful place to relax and connect. We enjoyed wandering on the trails on the farm and hiking on nearby Arc of Appalachia trails.

Weekend Trip to The Viking Longhall

We had a great stay overall. The Viking long hall was definitely a standout—such a unique and memorable feature that really sets this place apart. David and Iveagh were very kind and welcoming, and made it clear they were available if we needed anything. As experienced campers we didn’t need much assistance, but it was appreciated knowing they were there. The available hot shower and water were a great accommodation and definitely added to the comfort of the stay. The campsites are not on top of each other, but they aren’t very dispersed either. If you’re looking for a more private, spread-out experience, this may not be the best fit. Regardless, we felt nothing but welcome and accommodated. Overall, a really cool spot with a lot of character. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others looking for something a little different.

Weekend Trip to A-frame rustic cabin

We had a wonderful stay at this Hipcamp A-frame site—it's a peaceful, secluded property surrounded by trees and beautiful mountain views, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The host was very thoughtful and made sure we had everything we needed, including wood and fire starters so we didn’t have to run to the store. It’s very private, so you truly get the whole place to yourself. We also brought our dog, and he absolutely loved it. Overall, a great experience—we’d definitely come back!

We absolutely loved staying in the Sugar Shack! The land was beautiful and well cared for. We were grateful for the amenities like the shower and potable water. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed for a short weekend getaway. We would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

It was so wonderful to have a tiny A-frame all to myself: I felt like a kid in my very own playhouse! I didn't use the hammock, but it was great that one existed. And the proximity to the privy was appreciated. Fruitdale is a unique and peaceful place -- plus there is a sauna and I do love a good sauna. Thank you, Aimee, for creating this welcome haven.

the Aframe is so cute and well-equipped with solar lights and tiny wood stove. The deck and yard are beautiful. I wish I'd had more time to enjoy. I hurt my back the night I arrived and could barely walk the next day. I ended up packing up and driving 3 hours home. Jim and Tracy were so understanding and even refunded my 2nd night. I hope to stay in the future

The cottage was beautiful and cozy and we loved the soft bedding and fluffy blankets on chilly nights. They provided a propane heater and had prepped a fire for us to light. The creek was clear and provided a serene soundscape. David was kind and helpful. He checked in with us to be sure we had everything needed, brought got coffee every morning, and gave us great advice on local hiking spots.

Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch

I stayed in the cabin at DLR Mustang Ranch for a weekend, and it was exactly what I needed. I came to catch up on homework for my doctoral program and to have some quiet space to recover after the loss of my mother. It gave me such a peaceful, safe, and comfortable place to be alone, focus, and heal. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe the entire time, and that meant so much to me. I can’t say enough about Renee’s generosity and hospitality and the good things happening at DLR Mustang Ranch. I am so grateful for my stay and will absolutely be back.

Jim and Tracy are great hosts. I spoke with Jim upon arrival, and he made sure I was okay. I stayed alone at the A-frame and felt completely safe. It’s listed as one acre, but it felt like I was in the middle of a huge property—very quiet, secluded, and peaceful. I loved my stay at this cabin, and I’ll definitely be back in the summertime.
