Back to the basics, come and experience Tar River Life’s primitive camping on the Tar River.
Enjoy being on the river and listening to slow running sound of the Tar River. Bring your own tent or rent one of ours. You can drive your vehicle to all of our campsites.
The drive to camp is about 1/2 miles. Each site includes a fire pit, wood and trash bin. Cook your own meals or try and catch your own fish from the river. Campsites can be secluded or grouped.
Each site comes with a picnic table, 1 bundle of wood and trash can. Stay for a night or longer period of time, come and enjoy the outdoors with us. There is also the Vollmer Farm, with seasonal produce a Full Coffee Shop with breakfast goodies and baked goods and not to mention their fabulous ice cream. They have goods from around NC including, eggs, honey, meats, beers, wine and more. There is a grocery store (Food Lion) about 15 minutes away. So you can stock up on supplies on your way to your next adventure.

Each guest will have access to private parking area and wooded walkway, dome, deck area, fire pit, barbeque grill, hammock, and 3-acre pasture with pond.

About the Wi-Fi:
Wi-Fi is limited even with Starlink RV system. Guest will have the Wi-Fi password inside the dome upon arrival. T-Mobile, Verizon, and other networks have limited reception so plan ahead as we are an off the grid experience. Disconnecting is part of the adventure!
Each guest will have access to private parking area and wooded walkway, dome, deck area, fire pit, barbeque grill, hammock, and 3-acre pasture with pond.
Entrance codes will be shared to guests on the day arrival.
Guests will receive entrance codes for the private parking pad, gate after walking bridge, and dome red door.
Once you park in the private gravel parking area, guest can use our cart to haul all your glamping getaway items from the parking area through the wooded entrance and pasture to the dome. The dome is approximately 500ft away from the private parking area.

This was a beautiful place to stay. Candace and her husband were so welcoming and friendly. There’s a nice gazebo area, clean bathrooms, and a pool. We enjoyed walking around their farm visiting the cows and goats and watching the ducks waggle about. Highly recommend.

This place is comfortable, peaceful, and had several flat places to pitch a tent. Mark was very responsive and his directions were clear. One hint - there is a bright street light near the trampoline. It did not bother us but you should know.

Hands down one of the best hidden gems on the way to OBX. Their dog Fischer greeted us immediately, such a friendly pup, and friendly host/family. The lot is spacious, and the ponds are magical. Monte and Tracy (and Woody of course) are wonderful hosts and you don’t leave there without establishing a long term friendship! 50amp, water and sewer hookups were all new and worked perfectly. They held an evening fire down at the wood pile where all the guests are welcome and encouraged to come, have a beer, relax and tell stories! Great nature walks to see beaver dams or other critters of the beautiful surrounding woodlands. Our dog Cali loved the nature walks! We will definitely come back to visit our new friends again!

The Long Horn cattle were very majestic animals, my boxer was obsessed with them. They were having horse riding lessons when we pulled up, another first for my dogs. We had a nice place to stay and even filled up our fresh water tank. The farm was beautiful and the sunset was amazing! I highly recommend staying here!

We had the pleasure of staying here in the beginning of November. It’s a very scenic spot by several ponds and surrounded by forest. They had even just put in an electrical hookup for us to use. Abegail was a very responsive hostess and her husband even lent me his fishing rod to use. I probably would have caught something if my dog hadn’t thought it was some kind of fetch game lol. Lots of room for my pets to roam about and I had a couple great fires while I was there. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back someday!

I had a good night at Evan's Farm made even better by the fact I was the only camper. Spoke to the owner who was very nice. The fishing was good and the night sky was great. Pretty quiet place which is just what I was looking for. Would definitely come back.
