There is a microwave for cooking, a charcoal grill on the deck (charcoal and grill necessities included) and a fire ring for open flame cooking. There is a hammock provided for warmer days!
Please note that when temperatures dip into the teens and the single digits make sure to bring warm clothing as dome can still get a bit chilly on those nights. Also note that there is a hand washing station outside of the dome next to the port a potty however when temperatures dip into the teens and single digits the water can freeze up in the hand washing station. We do also provide hand sanitizer as a back up. The outdoor shower is only open typically from April through October. In addition, the only form of heat is a wood burning stove with starters and wood provided, so it will be your responsibility to make sure that the stove keeps burning with wood as to keep the dome warm. This most likely will entail getting up at least once a night to stoke/put wood on the fire. On very hot summer days the dome can get very warm inside. We have a high powered fan and black out curtains to help but it still can get very warm. Best to utilize the outdoor space in the late morning/early afternoon hours or use this time to explore the area. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING!
Also, there may be some bugs that you see. Especially stink bugs in September and October. We do our best to keep bugs out, yet this is a Glamping experience which is between camping and a typical Airbnb experience so please plan/pack/expect accordingly. Thanks!

Our gateway to Pisgah camper van is set on top of a mountain on 10 acres. It is parked on the land in the front of my home, with a separate parking area for privacy. It is the perfect spot, centrally located between Asheville, skiing and tubing resorts, and national forests, each being between 20 and 30 minutes drive. It has a bed that sleeps two, as well as a seating area that the table goes down and converts into a small bed. The camper van is air-conditioned and has a space heater, has a conduction cooktop in the kitchenette, as well as running water in the sink. There is a portable flushing camping toilet inside. On-site extras: A massage therapist is often available on-site — just ask about pricing and availability. We also offer 2–3 hour wood-fired sauna sessions for an additional fee (covers the labor and wood involved) — well worth it, and easy to arrange with advance notice.
Location: You're 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, with easy access to great hiking, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and art galleries. Asheville is 15 minutes away, Weaverville about 10.
A note on noise: This is a quiet retreat, not a party spot. Our nearest neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill, so we ask all guests to keep noise low, especially in the evening, which is also why the back deck is reserved as a silent space.

The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

3Feather Sanctuary is surrounded by beautiful, stately trees and has a creek meandering through it. The closest town is Hot Springs, which is 20 minutes away and the Hot Springs are a definite must-see if that peaks your interest! The town itself is also pretty cool. There are some good shops, restaurants & our favorite hardware store!! Downtown Marshall is also close, about 25 minutes and has a lot to offer! Gr8 restaurants, thrifting and cute shops along the river.
Our property is about an hour away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the adorable city of Asheville - which makes for a fantastic day trip with delicious restaurants, breweries, cool shops, and more! The Great Smokey Mountains and Deep Creek are about 1.5 hours away from the campsite. The Appalachian Trail is closeby and there are countless opportunities for stunning hikes. There's also kayaking, tubing, white water rafting opportunities as well as zip lining and horseback riding. There is something for everyone to enjoy and we can't wait to share it with you!
Full disclosure:
We have a camera pointed at the entrance and one at the bath house door, which we can move around to make sure that when people check in they make it to the right spot since I manage remotely part of the year. We have regular yard maintenance, however, we are Country natural landscape, not parking lot type campground, so the grass is slightly higher in some small areas but truly those things are part of a sustainable and uniquely beautiful camping experience!

Nice secluded campground on an angora bunny farm. Listen to the sound of the mountain creek while you sleep, and cuddle with bunnies by the running water wheel during the day. Very relaxing spot to decompress and unplug on 7 acres that are mostly wooded.
Pisgah National Forest is just two miles away with plenty of hiking to explore. The charming town of Burnsville is just 10 miles on a beautiful, scenic highway. Homeplace Brewery, Birdfoot Taproom, Carriage House Sundries, and Snapdragon are among the local spots to visit. Asheville is also nearby at just under an hour’s drive.
The trail entrance to Big Butt is a couple miles away with a few great overlook points.

We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground.
*FAQ: Is this a good spot to bring my kiddos?
Our campground is not equipped to handle the magical, whirlwind force that children release unto the world. There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids.
WHAT'S NEARBY?
- There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away.
- Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes)
-Hiking! Waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers... There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes.

Welcome to my peaceful homestead in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This rustic studio space I affectionately call Chicken Church, has been a labor of love, using all the materials I have collected from my many construction projects over the years... and many states. My friends all know who to pass the junk along to. The space is heated with a wood stove and has an antique 1922 wood cook stove--do you know how to cook on one? The kitchen is set up with a sink, water kettle and cooking amenities, including an electric stove.
Bathroom amenities: cold water sink and toilet. No shower inside, but there is an outdoor shower, propane heated. (NOTE: Heater gets removed at first 32° and won't be available in November.)
The main house on the property is within 200 feet, where I share the space with Airbnb guests. There is a close neighbor family to the left, about 250 feet away. Because my property is in a residential neighborhood, respect for neighbors and other guests is greatly appreciated.
Outside, you’ll feel an instant sense of peace and tranquility surrounded by horses, happy, free ranging chickens, abundant woods, gardens, ponds with some new baby geese chicks soon, open lawns and a fire pit for your restful getaway. I have a pup who monitors the outdoors... and to keep it uncomplicated, i cannot accept other pets.
Asheville is about a 12 minute drive: Known as the craft beer capital in the US, there is no shortage of breweries. You don't have to go very far to find a plethora of trails in this town, including the mountain to sea trail which is easily accessible from this neighborhood. The farm to table scene is amazing... so much good food! Eat! Eat! Eat!

If you're looking to escape to the mountains, look no further! Wild Ridge Trail is a place where you can come to unwind, relax, and take in the fresh air of our N.C. mountains! We are located only 10/15 minutes from all of the exciting things Asheville has to offer and just as close to the charming small town of Black Mountain!
The cabin at wild ridge is OFF GRID (meaning no power or running water) but I promise, with our solar panels and rain collection system you won't miss being ON the grid at all! The cabin and the drive (or hike) up was designed for the adventurous at heart! So, drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear and hike on up! (The hike in is steep... about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice :)
Please note: We have to close the outdoor heated shower during the cold winter months, however we provide an all season 5 gallon solar shower bag to use during this time. We also have a list at the cabin of other places nearby that provide hot showers in the winter months for a small fee.
In the rare event that heavy snow is expected, we will have to close the road leading up to the cabin because of its steepness. If this occurs, you will be given a full refund for the cancellation.
To heat the cabin, there is a un-vented wall mounted heater that heats the space really well! Since the cabin is insulated, the heater works quick to heat the small area up so you will stay nice and cozy!

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling.
Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood.
You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7.
Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more.
Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Many people write that they’ve learned an enormous amount about themselves, about homesteading or permaculture, and about alternate ways of being.

The location ended up being great for us because we wanted something near the Appalachian Trail to hunt for some mushrooms and then we wanted something near Hot Springs as well it’s only about 23 minutes from Hot Springs so it totally met our needs

Weekend Trip to Bee Our Guest
Terra was excellent about communication before, during, and after my scheduled stay. There was bad weather (hurricane) and we decided not to go at the last minute, which is a bummer! But Terra offered a rain check for another time, which was a very pleasant surprise and felt like going above and beyond!

The cabin is cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with all the essentials and more. A lot of kindness went into the design of this place. The forest, trees, and mountain views are serene, with lots of birds and other small (and large) animals...from the porch you can safely hear all the creatures at night. The fire pit and hanging lights make for a special camp-like experience, but with all the amenities of being indoors. Also my son loves the chickens and the swing. It's a really gorgeous, awesome, wholesome place ❤️

Weekend Trip to The Baying Hound Campground
Great place for laid-back people. We really enjoyed it here it was so calm and peaceful being right on the creek. We also love that it was OK to let your dogs off leash. Everything was perfect. My dog even got to play with a few others. No worries, no cares. Everybody minded their own business and was very kind!!! thank you for having us

Kathryn has thought of everything to make staying away from home easy and rejuvenating.
I’m not sure if my favorite part of our stay was the shower or doing yoga (may & blocks provided) outside.

We had an excellent stay! It was the perfect mountain get away for a couple and their fur baby! The bed was spacious, comfy, and clean! The little kitchen was perfect to make a little breakfast of eggs and bacon and the firepit was easy and fun to make hot dogs and smores on! Although small, the bathroom was great with a hot and strong water pressure! The front porch is so serene and an absolute vibe! A perfect spot for a weekend get away for a single or couple!

Group trip
We had a great time at the bunny farm! Cat met us on site and walked us through everything. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Beds were comfortable and there were extra linens for the two extra fold out beds. The toilet was just a short walk from the tent, right beside the parking area, not too bad if you have to go in the middle of the night. The rabbit shearing was a really fun add on and very low pressure. Thank you Cat for making our stay so enjoyable!
