Welcome to our peaceful yurt tucked into the hillside of our 38-acre dream property in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Just 5 minutes from downtown Marshall, this cozy semi-off-grid stay is perfect for those seeking a balance of rustic charm and simple modern comforts. The yurt features a sleeping area with a twin XL/full bunk (plus a twin trundle) and a queen futon—ideal for couples, small groups, or families. Inside you’ll also find a dining nook and kitchenette equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. There’s electricity, a split unit for heat/AC, and a bathroom with a Separett toilet and a sink powered by an electric pump. Outside, enjoy the quiet rustling of trees, total privacy, and starry skies. You’ll have easy access to hiking, river tubing, the hot springs in Hot Springs (20 min away), and all the arts, food, and music that Asheville (25 min away) has to offer. Please note: The yurt is not on a water line or septic system. Our off-grid system includes a composting toilet, an electric pump sink, and a fillable water tank for washing dishes. 4WD is not required but can be helpfulThe yurt is comfortably outfitted with a twin XL/full bunk bed (plus an XL twin trundle) and a queen-size futon. Family yurt glamping trip!

The cutest little spot with lots of privacy, great views, and adjacent to lots of hiking, food, etc. we are a family of four with two kids under three and felt safe and comfortable here. The host was so sweet and kind by driving us down to our car at the entry to their driveway when we got a flat tire. Awesome site, we hope to come again!

Peace and Quiet at the Yurt

If you are looking for peace, quiet and complete solitude with the comforts of home then I highly recommend Kathryn’s yurt. It was perfect for my teenage son and me to enjoy our trip to Asheville and the surrounding area for hiking and zip lining. To find the yurt, you will drive up a steep gravel driveway and about a quarter of a mile to a pull-off space to park the car. The yurt is just a few steps down a well-lit pathway. Inside the yurt is a kitchenette with a drip coffee maker, microwave, toaster, mini fridge and tiny dishwasher. There were plenty of plates, cups and utensils to share. We brought a folding table and camping stove to set up outside for cooking, which was perfect. There’s also a fire ring with chairs in the back of the yurt. There are a few grocery stores a short drive away. The beds were comfortable enough and the split heating/ac unit kept it nice and cozy. This yurt is exactly what I was looking for. We did not see or hear anyone else the whole time we were there. The views are just stunning and you can hear the rushing river from below. I will definitely stay again the next time I’m in the area.

Perfect Mountain Getaway!

My friend, daughter, and I stayed in Kathryn's yurt a few weekends ago. It was everything we'd hoped for and more! The location was perfect. The yurt is nestled on top of a private hill that overlooks the mountains. The view was breathtaking. It was secluded, but Kathryn said she lived right up the hill. This provided a sense of comfort, especially since I had a young child with me. Kathryn was at the property upon our arrival to show us around, let us know how everything worked, and she made sure we were all set for our weekend. She said we could reach out if we needed anything at all! The yurt was BEAUTIFUL inside and had everything to make our stay in nature a tad more comfortable. AC, compost toilet, sink with running water, mini fridge, power outlets, and other creature comforts we've been spoiled with. I have to say, the trundle bunk bed was a genius space-saver! We attempted to make dinner on the fire pit, but Mother Nature had other plans and threw a couple of storms our way. It did get loud inside the yurt with the heavy rainfall, but I was glad to be in a firm structure rather than a tent! The gravel was a tad tricky on the drive up to the yurt the first day, but upon calling Kathryn, she instructed us how to get around it and assured us that it was getting fixed asap. I would definitely stay here again. Heck, I would live there if I could! Kathryn was a phenomenal host. I would highly recommend this space to anyone looking for a getaway!
