Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

The drive to camp is about 1/2 miles. Each site includes a fire pit, wood and trash bin. Cook your own meals or try and catch your own fish from the river. Campsites can be secluded or grouped.

We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. Catch and release. NC fishing license required.
JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. The Jones Family owns and operates JCO (Juniper Creek Outfitters) since 2020. The Historic Pond dates back to 1773 where a grist mill, sawmill, general store, and blacksmith shop were established. The land was once our 6th Great Grandfather's and how Fountaintown was formed. The property consists of 84+ acres: 22-acre lake, swamps, creeks, and farmland. We are in a farming community. We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. Catch and release. NC fishing license required.
JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. Kayaks and trolling boats are welcome. No gas motors. Upon booking we can send a local tourism guide for the area. We are only 50 minutes from the beach and coastal towns. Pet Friendly campsites. Hi there! The Cozy Heron is an 𝙞𝙣-𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙣, riverside glamping resort. Noises of traffic from nearby highway is audible. Each wagon is equipped with calming sound machines that also double as bluetooth speakers to assist guests who may be bothered by sounds of nearby traffic. We currently have five covered wagons and one bath house. The property offers a community stone patio, firepit, grilling area, and large expansive lawn. We had a great time. It wasn't very busy so it was pretty quiet and peaceful. Every campsite had views of the river and some had access to the river. The host was nice and checked on us after we had settled in. It was a short drive to refill water at Vollmer's farm(which also had coffee and ice cream!). Each site had its own portable toilet which was great. Will definitely be back to explore the river by kayak!

We had a great 3-night Easter/Anniversary getaway at Bright Star Farm in our little camper, Bonnie Sue. We enjoyed the country atmosphere, including being around the animals - horses, peacocks, chickens, etc. The location is easy to get to. Steve met us there as we arrived, showed us where to park, gave us info on the restroom location and supplied an electrical extension. The restroom was a nice sink and toilet, but no shower. Bonnie Sue has a shower, so no issue for us. Water pressure was great and everything worked well. We were going to go into New Bern, but ended up just enjoying the sunshine and peacefulness at the farm. We did visit Kinston one night to eat at Vivian Howard's restaurant, Chef & The Farmer, which was very good and unique. There is a Dollar General 5 miles away if you need anything, so that's good. Steve & Connie were great hosts. We will definitely go back to this location again in the future!

Our trip was delayed slightly, but Jeff and Megan were very easy to work with. Even though we arrived much later than expected, we were greeted by Jeff. He met us at the entrance and helped us get parked, took time to show us around even though it was raining.
Jeff and Megan were great hosts, offering suggestions for local food and gas stations. Nice peaceful Hipcamp for our “halfway to the coast” stop.

Great camping spots. We really enjoyed our spot. Unfortunately they have a pretty bad alligator weed infestation which grows along the edges of the pond making fishing difficult or impossible in many areas. We were able to fish at our spot but didn't have much luck despite trying everything. Overall we had a good weekend and enjoyed the site we picked. Several species of frogs calling at night, owls, and turkeys were heard. Got some good views of a Bald Eagle and an Osprey.

We stayed here due to its location within a few miles of our family/friends. Monte is a very friendly host and very welcoming. My husband was working remote through the day and we went to our friends’ home in the evenings. I spent daytime hours exploring the area recreation areas and parks, of which there are many. There is a lot of contracting type activity that goes on around the site during the day but it quiets down at night. We were also there Sunday-Sat and weren’t there over a weekend. If you are looking for seclusion and camping in the woods, this site would not be for you. If you are looking for a jumping off point for exploring the area, work, or visiting family/friends, this site works fine.
