This immaculate small cabin near Asheville is ready to treat you to a luxurious retreat experience. We are located only 15 minutes from Asheville and a few miles from the parkway, surrounded by 14 acres of forest. There is a private hot tub that is all yours! Sauna available upon request. Professional massage therapist onsite as well. The house is hand crafted with unique creative touches for your delight. We look forward to having you! This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well. There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it. Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night. If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know. And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away. On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on. This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

Very private cabins in a beautiful woods at a great price near the Smokies. Much needed during a summer week with intermittent rain storms. They were out of water when we were there so no flush toilets the first day and then still no shower or running water in sink. The owners are very friendly and available throughout your stay. The little camp store has goods that are best to pick up when you arrive.

My husband, daughter (3), and I all had a wonderful 2-night stay at Cabin 2! I can’t recommend the experience highly enough. We took advantage of all of the trails—and the view from the Upper Bald is especially out of this world. Although the trails are short, they are steep (or maybe they just felt especially that way due to the humidity); however, it’s absolutely worth it. We had such a great time, and I am so thankful we decided to book a stay. Our daughter enjoyed swinging on the front porch and picking wild strawberries on the Upper Bald. Again, this is a fantastic experience. If you’re hesitating, just do it! We hope to come back again in another season!

The land and camp setup was great. After experiencing Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, it was nice to get to a remote place surrounded by nature. The community bathrooms and the showers were a plus. The charging station and the community outside kitchen was nice. We did not partake in the coffee bar setup but that was a nice touch as well. The shower attached to the tent was great. The only issue we experienced was that if you step out of the shower to go back to the tent to dry off or want to dry off on the outer part of the shower area, anyone going to and from their car can see one doing so, cause the privacy wall surrounding tent 3 was not high enough. Also, something to hold the pull string of the water knob in the shower would have been great, but not necessary if you’re good with washing and rinsing using 1 hand, which we did so it worked. Ticks in the tent was a bit of a problem. They were all over the bottom of the entry way and since the zipper doesn't zip all the way down, they were coming through the opening. I ended up sweeping them off the tent entry and from inside. Its nature, so a couple insects can be expected. We had a noise issue, but the hosts responded to my message in a short amount of time.

This place made our time in the Smokies so magical! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Bambie cabin and it was so peaceful and serene. You really do feel like you have the whole woods to yourself. Rhonda and Roberta were wonderful and so helpful and kind. Rhonda even gave us a ride up to our cabin one rainy night when we were nervous that our low-clearance sedan might have trouble. Things to bring: extra linens because it can get pretty cold at night! We had two extra comforters in our car and ended up using both. Also, bring ample light options! We used all the lanterns and flashlights/headlamps we had. It gets really dark inside, as another reviewer mentioned. You can tell that a lot of love and care has been poured into this campground and that they really want you to have a positive experience. Overall a really beautiful time that amplified the quality of our trip. 💜

Two Great Smoky Mtn National Park entrances are within 8 miles! Leave No Trace mentality and simpler living, where wildlife abounds and zero city lights are visible. Motivation behind the creation of Smoky Mountain Sky Camp is to share with the public an alternative, nature-based vacation inspired by conservation with minimal impact. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom. You can dine al fresco in the trees! "There's no place like Dome." Grandpa Squirrel's Dome's sits on 4.1 acres at the base of Granny Squirrel Mountain in the foothills of the Appalachian's and less than 5 miles from the town of Andrew's North Carolina in Cherokee County. Highway 19 abuts the land providing easy access to destinations of your choice. These destinations may include white water rafting, tubing, hiking, cruising the Tail of the Dragon, antiquing, hitting the casinos, and any other adventure of your choosing. Of course, you may also choose to find a place to just sit down, relax, and enjoy the sounds and energy of the noisy creek that pulses along its western border. Perhaps a simple picnic along the banks, or maybe you'd like to feed the fish that inhabit and grace this land. Short History The Cherokee's called this land "Konehete", aka "The Long Valley Place", and it was thought of as, "Cherokee Paradise". They grew the Three Sisters (Corn, Beans and Squash), hunted the rich lands, fished its creeks and lakes, worshiped and gave thanks to the great Creator and to the spirits of the land, as well as the animals which inhabit it. The military removal of what remained of the Cherokee Nation began in 1836 along what we now refer to as "The Trail of Tears". It started here in Andrews, which at that time was called Valley Town. The first fort built along the Trail of Tears was Ft Delaney, all that remains today is the remnants of a stone wall, it lies nearby. Running along the western border of Grandpa Squirrel's is an always running creek which is fed by a mountain top spring as well as rain runoff from the surrounding mountains. Along the creek there are 3 geodesic domes (soon to be 5) which provide 250 square feet of living space within. The domes are furnished with a queen size bed, a small dining area and a place to store your things. Each dome also has a small gravel patio and seating is provided. Additionally, there are propane BBQ grills located at the outdoor community kitchen area, as well as potable water. This is also where you will find your coffee in the morning. Transparency and Setting Expectations: THE BAD There are no flushing toilets. There is an outhouse on site. To avoid trips to the outhouse late at night, each dome comes with a porta potty. If you choose to use the porta potty in your dome, it is your responsibility to transfer the waste to the outhouse and to properly clean it out. Cleaning supplies are provided. Granpa Squirrels is not secluded deep in the woods and off the beaten path., It abuts the main highway and there is a considerable amount of road noise. The road noise dies down at night but returns early the next day as delivery trucks make their way down the highway. With that said, it's also kind of cool to see packs of cyclists and car enthusiasts blowing past the property ready for another glorious day in the mountains of North Carolina.

Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. There is a small exit due to construction (BE CAREFUL, as we have had Hipcampers miss the exit) Keep left, go underneath the interstate and up the gravel road (going around the road closed signs) to our hostel which is the first building you come to. We are first-come, first-served in Northbound thru hiking season (March 15 through May 15), however, reservations are available at all other times of the year by contacting us via phone 4234870014 (Call) or 4236080149 (Call or Text). Hike or drive-in. Business hours: 8am-8pm. Open year round and on holidays. Call ahead if arriving early in the morning or late at night. We offer guests an off-grid and authentic Appalachian experience at our hike-in cabins and campsites located on 500 private acres atop the Newfound Mountains in Western North Carolina! Our Trailhead is located 45 minutes west of Asheville, NC and our hike-in trail is 2 miles long with 1,250 feet of elevation gain. The hike-in trail utilizes an old forest service road which follows a creek providing verdant landscapes and soothing sounds as you make your way up the mountain to our cabins and campsites. We have two antique Appalachian cabins on-site and two campsites available. Our cabins and campsites are priced per person and can be reserved individually or collectively through an entire property buyout. A hearty and healthy breakfast is served each morning in our Main Lodge and is included and you'll never pay a cleaning fee on this mountain because we believe in Southern hospitality! Our Main Lodge (Cabin #1) has a huge front porch with spectacular views, a nicely appointed off-grid kitchen, full bathroom with hot shower and an upstairs loft that sleeps up to 10. Our on-site host/s stay downstairs in the Main Lodge in private bedrooms so they can keep the home fires burning, tend the garden, cook breakfasts, clean the cabins and ensure all your needs are taken care of during your stay. Guests in our Upper Cabin (Cabin #2) enjoy a wooded and secluded setting in a rustic cabin that sleeps up to 6. The downstairs area features an open floorpan with a queen size bed, off-grid kitchen, dining area and the loft upstairs sleeps up to 4 people. Cabin #2 also features a full bathroom with and a tree-house like view from the front porch! Our cabin adjacent camp space features two spectacular campsites and is located 100’ from our Main Lodge. Camp 1 and Camp 2 both measure 12’x15’ and feature a soft grassy surface surrounded by natural boulder walls. Both campsites sit beside our neighboring property owned by the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and feature a long-range mountain views. Motivation behind the creation of Smoky Mountain Sky Camp is to share with the public an alternative, nature-based vacation inspired by conservation with minimal impact. The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. All bath towels/washcloths, plus shampoo/wash are provided in each treehouse bathroom. You can dine al fresco in the trees! The kitchenette boasts wide concrete countertop table dining with four stools, two-burner propane cooktop, potable water and drain sink, and separate propane grill. Provided cookware includes pots, pans, cooking/grill tools and utensils, cutting board and knife. There are complete place settings for 4 glampers, plus coffee percolator and mugs (bring ground coffee.) There is no refrigerator, bring your own cooler and ice. We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there.
