1 night at Mountain Homestead

Such a great stay that we added an extra night! The perfect blend of on site amenities like a propane cook top and water to wash up, and time in nature. Enjoyed walking around the property and the sound of the creek all night. Will probably book another stay here in the fall, I'm sure it's beautiful.

1 night at Peace Of Pisgah

I loved glamping on Vicki's property. We booked site #2. It was very secluded and had a creek running by it. Vicki was amazing and showed us around her beautiful property! It was so nice that the tent had an additional covering so we could stay dry in the rain. The site had cots, sleeping bags, and even earplugs for sleeping. It was conveniently located 10 minutes from Brevard and close to so many beautiful hiking trails. Vicki sent us some of her recommendations! I will definitely come back here!

Weekend Trip to Above the Fray Glamping, Black Mtn.

This is our second trip to the glamping decks and we had another wonderful time. It rained pretty heavily the second night and we were completely comfortable and dry on the deck. We didn’t even close the tarps. Having access to electricity is very convenient. It’s so peaceful and beautiful and is becoming one of our favorite places to go for a quick mountain getaway. Our four year old and dogs also had a great time.

Weekend Trip to Mountain Top Cabins

Lisa’s land was incredible. Cabin 1 is shared with the land’s caretaker, Doug, and Lisa when she is in town. There is a space for guests in the loft above the main living area that is very private and comfortable. The cabin is well equipped with everything you need to cook meals, a fully functioning bathroom, around 10 beds, and various board games and books. The views from the cabin are amazing. You are high above the surrounding mountains with views looking out for miles and miles. The sunrise is fully visible from the cabin either from your bed or the front porch with a cup of coffee in hand. Hike up to the big bald for the highest point on the property and an incredible view of the sunset. Lisa and Doug even cooked us delicious breakfasts each day with local goods! The hike up to the cabin is very manageable and well worth it. Plan for an hour or two depending on your pace! Our group had some pretty heavy packs but didn’t have any issues making it to the cabin.

Weekend Trip to Above the Fray Glamping, Black Mtn.

This was a lovely place to camp for a weekend! We loved our deck... the view was incredible and we didn't even have to set up a tent! We just rolled out our sleeping bags right on the deck. The 2/3 roof and tarps kept us sheltered from the wind and a little bit of rain on the second night. Also, Black Mountain was a great town to explore and it was only a 10-15 minute drive from the decks!

Loved the views from our semi-covered platform. Having access to electricity and fresh water was very handy. The sheltered portion of the deck helped massively when it got windy and rainy. Located close to many trails (even more when everything opens back up) and not far from the Black Mountain shops and restaurants. Highly recommended!

3 nights at Hidden Acres Mountain Camping

Hidden Acres is truly a magical place to experience. So much thought and creativity has gone into each and every campsite. Spring Haven is the second site I have had the pleasure to stayed at. I appreciate our hosts for being so nice and welcoming to us. We had such a lovely time and have never relaxed more during our camping trips as we did this past weekend. The campsites are very spacious and not too close to each other so you can definitely have privacy if you want. I enjoyed the free range chickens that were always happy to greet you as you make your way to the bath house. The bath houses were always clean and are very nicely built as well. We also enjoyed feeding the fish in the water feature pond at Spring Haven. They were fun to watch. If you get a chance to experience Spring Haven or any sites available at Hidden Acres you won’t regret it. One of the best camps I have had!

Stayed in at The Summit cabin for two nights with my girlfriend, It was a lovely time, very relaxing and quiet! The property owner, Hans is a super laid-back, intelligent, soulful man and respected our space and time! He is a joy to be around! I’d recommend this place if you’re looking to unplug and feel free! Weekend Trip to Peace Of Pisgah

I just wrapped up a fun-filled weekend at Peace of Pisgah (Site 2). The location is great, minutes from the Pisgah Forest main entrance, as well as downtown Brevard. The layout with the sites is very accommodating and accessible, yet each site has plenty of privacy. The fact that the tent is just feet from a small flowing creek adds to the ambiance. Perhaps the most special thing about Peace of Pisgah are the owners. Vicki and her husband are genuinely nice people who went out of their way to ensure my visit was no less than stellar. The whole area, from the tent site to the shower and privy, are decorated with niceties from Vicki's artistic touch. Thanks for such a quiet and relaxing stay :)

Had a great time!!! The cabin was cozy and very welcoming. A nice cool breezes help keep the cabin nice and cool even when we had some warm days on our stay. The cow kept us company in the mornings and evenings, so friendly and sweet.

2 nights at Smoky Mountain Sky Camp - Cosby

Brenna did such an awesome job making our group feel right at home in the woods. A perfect balance of rustic comforts, VERY comfortable beds, and being deep woods. The property is set up as good if not better than a national park, way more cozy, without the traffic, all the campsite amenities you could hope for and very clear helpful instructions from Brenna, she doesn’t leave you guessing at all, and can feel comfortable and confident in respecting their space. We stayed with two couples in a treehouse and had an awesome time. Cooked lots of food (brought our own cast iron pot for larger meals) and bring plenty extra water if there’s more than two of you. Five gallons goes quick if you are making coffee, cooking, and hiking. The trails on property were also so amazing, perfect for stretching our legs out after a late arrival being stuck in accident riddled interstate traffic. I immediately had my shoes off to enjoy the cushy moss bedded trails of the forest floor. These folks are awesome! Their property truly shows their passion for nature. I live off grid jungle in Kauai and already dream of coming back. I know my brother in Nashville will be there again sooner than I.

The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some roofs are full size, some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in normal weather conditions. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system, allowing guests and dogs be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned on a weekly basis. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, et I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people yo Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Good Egg Tiny Home & Remodeled Barn

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more. Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Many people write that they’ve learned an enormous amount about themselves, about homesteading or permaculture, and about alternate ways of being. This Spring (2016), we’ve increased the price a bit reflect more accurately our costs to maintain and improve the buildings & the property as well as carefully and lovingly transitioning it between guests.
