Black Barn Farm

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Newport, Carteret
Welcome to our little piece of heaven! Our property offers a variety of activities for you to enjoy and a variety of camping options. Set up camp in a tent, car, bus or RV, or, stay in one of our dry camping cabins. All camp areas are private from our home, with potty and well water available. Please be aware-we are a working farm. There is sometimes noise and if you are sensitive bring earplugs, head phones , etc... The ducks chatter and talk to night away, the dogs do bark if Bambi-Baloo-Thumper or their chicken siblings hang to close to the pens. We have wildlife here! Owls, coyotes, bear and deer some are more musical than others. FYI! It is now our beloved emu breeding season (Oct.-Mar) Loki and Odie are listening to Marvin Gaye and if you aren't comfortable answering some "Discovery Channel" type questions on reproduction, keep the kiddos away from their enclosure around dinnertime! LOL Just a heads up, we believe in keeping it real. There are MANY thigs to do in our area that are low cost to free, which is an added plus for any families coming to visit! Just ask me and I'll give you suggestions depending on your budget. If you love the ocean, the beach is just a short distance away. Hikers will love the nearby trails and abundant hiking options from poccosin swamps to the Mountain to Sea Trail. Our property is perfect for outdoor adventure and exploration. If you prefer a more relaxing stay, you can stay on our property and enjoy a refreshing swim in our pond or cozy up by a campfire. Birdwatching is a popular activity here as we are a family-run bird farm with a variety of feathered friends including ducks, chickens, guineas, geese, and even an emu! Fresh eggs are available for breakfast, straight from our farm to your plate . We are passionate about birds and love to share our knowledge with our guests. The porta toilet is located at the end of the emu pen and well water is available in front of the barn. Any vehicle over 6' will have to enter/exit on West (left) side of the pond due to low clearance. Cold water shower available. Our property is also conveniently located near the historic towns of Beaufort and New Bern, perfect for a day trip. There are nearby stores and farmers markets where you can get fresh veggies, and we are always willing to suggest places to go. You can also visit Fort Macon, Hammocks Beach, Carteret County Speedway, the NC Aquarium, local farms, and more. Go see a local mud bog on Saturday nights or check out the local Bogue Sound distillery and fabulous seafood restaurants, which is just a short drive away. Bring your boat because we have plenty of space to park and can direct you to whichever type of waterway you want to be on. There are nearby private fishing charters, horseback riding and ferry adventures to go see the ponies. Better yet go visit the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort and get inspired to sign up to build your own boat. Just one of our neat local treasures. Come have an assisted outdoor oyster roast! You go pick up your fresh local oysters in season) from people we can recommend, and we can help walk you thru the "how to". We will have all you need: pot, burner, knives, new condiments and table ready to go so all you have to do is cook eat and enjoy! Go clamming! Coastal Tiki Hideaway & Cozy Camper

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents1 acre · Pine Knoll Shores, Carteret
Bring your RV (or tent) to the coast or camp in our RV! Nestled alongside our home, this camping retreat is just minutes from Morehead City’s waterfront, historic Beaufort, Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, Croatan National Forest, and Cape Lookout National Seashore. After spending the day at the beach or exploring the area, come back to your cozy camper to relax in the hammock, grill out, eat at the picnic table under the expansive branches of our 30' magnolia tree, and gather ‘round the campfire to enjoy some s’mores. --COASTAL TIKI HIDEAWAY CAMPSITES-- We offer two campsites on 1/3 of an acre in Morehead City, NC - just minutes from the beach. Both are full hook-up (water, electric, sewer), 30 amp (not 50 amp), and are both set-up for RVs or tents. --COASTAL COZY CAMPER-- In addition to the two campsites, we also have our camper set-up for vacation rentals. Our 26’ Jayco Jay Flight Bunkhouse camper comfortably sleeps up to 5 and features a queen-size master bed with privacy curtain, a bunkhouse with two full-size beds and individual privacy curtains, and a convenient RV flip sofa. There is a built-in refrigerator/freezer and fully stocked kitchen with stove and oven and a kitchen table with booth seating. The bathroom has a standard RV tub shower with water heated by a 6-gallon propane water heater. The living room has a flat-screen TV, and the master bedroom has a flat-screen TV with Roku. High-speed WiFi throughout. --AMENITIES-- The campsites and camper are located in Morehead City next to our home on about 1/3 of an acre. The entire space is fenced-in. The entrance/exit, all amenities, and community space are located on the fenced-in lot next door to our home. We have an outdoor fire pit, charcoal grill, two picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, hammock, wooden bench swing, fishing kayaks, an outdoor sink and countertop area, palm trees, and boat trailer parking. --PET POLICY-- Pets are welcomed; although, certain pet breeds are restricted, such as Pit Bull, Doberman Pinscher, Rottweiler, and German Shepherd. Message host for specifics. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your pet. --WIFI-- We are a small, family-owned operation. At the current moment, we are not offering wifi. --KAYAKS-- The two fishing kayaks are complimentary and included in your stay. The kayak racks are located on the fence at the front of the property. There’s a life jacket and a whistle with each kayak, as you will need to have those on board per Coast Guard regulations. With the Crystal Coast having so many waterways and water access points, there really are several different places to launch your kayak throughout the area, so it's easy to have a unique experience with each new adventure! The two kayak launches that we recommend are the Beaufort waterfront and the Morehead City waterfront. The kayak launch on the Beaufort waterfront is near the corner of Front St and Pollock St at Grayden Paul Park. It is near all the ferry ticket booths and docks. The launch is a sandy strip of land, where you can easily get into the water and then paddle around Taylor’s Creek and enjoy Carrot Island. If you get lucky, you might see the wild horses on Carrot Island! At the Morehead City waterfront, there is a local kayak company at Jaycee Park by the transient docks, and they put their kayaks in the water there. I would instead recommend going to the Morehead City waterfront at 10th St., where there is a little beach, boat ramp, dock, small fishing pier, and kayak launch. This is just a block over from Jaycee Park where the other kayak company is located. From here, you can paddle over to Sugarloaf Island and enjoy the beaches on the island. Keep in mind that our amenities and grounds are shared with any guests vacationing at the Coastal Tiki Hideaway and the Coastal Cozy Camper, and there is not a reservation process for the kayaks. It is first come, first served. Also transportation of the kayaks to and from your destination is the responsibility of each of our guests, but feel free to message us with any questions or for any tips as you are planning your kayak trip. --THE LOCAL AREA-- The Coastal Tiki Hideaway and the Coastal Cozy Camper are located at the North Carolina Crystal Coast - NC's Southern Outer Banks - specifically the Morehead City area, just minutes away from historic Beaufort, Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, Croatan National Forest, and Cape Lookout National Seashore. 1 mile to Restaurants/Stores 3 miles to Croatan National Forest public game lands 4 miles to Public Boat Ramp 6 miles to Morehead City Waterfront 6 miles to Atlantic Beach 9 miles to Beaufort 9 miles to Fort Macon State Park 11 miles to NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores --SPECIFIC LOCATION-- *Online Maps may have our address listed as either Morehead City, NC 29557 or Newport, NC 28570. This is the same location. If you look on the map, you’ll notice we are located in a small neighborhood just off of hwy 70 as Newport meets Morehead City. Also, online satellite maps may show an older view of what our street looked like from before Hurricane Florence, so don’t let it worry you if it doesn’t show campsites. :-) --WITHIN 5 MIN-- We are located in a neighborhood just a block’s walk to places like Dunkin’ Donuts, Fiesta Burrito Mexican Restaurant, and Circle K. Across the street and also within a 5 min drive, you’ll find businesses such as Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Walmart, West Marine, Panera Bread, Chick-Fil-A, McDonalds, EJW Outdoors, Soundside Steak and Seafood Restaurant, and Food Network award-winning Happy Cakes cupcakery. --ABOUT MOREHEAD CITY-- Downtown Morehead City boasts waterfront dining and live music at places like Jack’s Waterfront Restaurant and Southern Salt Seafood. You’ll find professional offshore fishing charters, local boat tours and ferry rides to places like the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Shackleford Banks and the wild horses, and Sand Dollar Island. The Morehead City waterfront also features a white sand beach, boat ramp, and small fishing pier. It is home to events like the Big Rock Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament, NC Seafood Festival, Crystal Coast Grand Prix, Alive-at-Five live summer music series, Christmas flotilla, Fourth-of-July fireworks and live music, and New Year’s Eve fireworks and 'crab pot' drop. --ABOUT BEAUFORT-- Historic Beaufort is North Carolina's third oldest town. Take a double-decker bus tour through the historic district, visit the NC Maritime Museum to see artifacts from Blackbeard's ship The Queen Anne's Revenge, hop aboard the Beaufort Pirate's Revenge for some sailing and swashbuckling pirate adventure, visit the Watercraft Museum for boatbuilding classes, enjoy ferry rides and boat tours to the local islands, wild horses, Shackleford Banks, and Cape Lookout Lighthouse and National Seashore. --ABOUT ATLANTIC BEACH-- At the Atlantic Beach Circle, you’ll find the newly renovated and expanded Tackle Box Tavern and Bite at the Box featuring beachfront food and brews; Idle Hour Biergarten, where you can sink your toes in the sand and enjoy food and a cold drink; and the Bahia Beach House and Surf Bar. Enjoy canoeing, fishing, and hunting and a diversity of wildlife from deer, black bears, turkeys, wading birds, ospreys, and alligators. --ABOUT CAPE LOOKOUT NATIONAL SEASHORE-- Just offshore you'll find Cape Lookout National Seashore, a nature preserve comprising 56 miles of barrier islands. Popular for its white sand, clear blue waters, and wild uninhabited, remote beach scene, visitors enjoy exploring the Cape Lookout Lighthouse grounds and historic village, watching wild horses, shelling, fishing, birding, 4WD beach driving, and camping. ------ --COMMUNICATION-- Your CAREFREE beach vacation is our TOP PRIORITY! If for any reason you need anything during your stay, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are LOCAL, professional hosts, and we want you to love this space and this area as much as we do!
