The cabin is located in a remote area of Bear Swamp State Forest. It is about 5 miles from the nearest paved road but has seasonal roads that take you to the cabin. There are many close attractions like Skaneateles Lake and Carpenters Falls. The Cabin doesn’t have electricity or water but we do have a generator available. We do not have a shower or bathroom but we have an outhouse. We do ask people to bring their own gas if you want to run the generator and woods to make a fire. I highly recommend 4x4 vehicles but I been there in a civic and a mini van.

Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, etc. A wheelchair that can navigate grass and some ruts can enter the cabin, but not the outhouse, and the sleeping loft is up stairs (there is room for a cot or mattress on the first floor); the porch is accessible through the cabin. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. Learn more about this land: A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. The property has 3 cottages on it and is situated across the street from Cayuga Lake in a secret wild garden, but is a 6 minute drive to downtown Ithaca Commons. This cottage is not for everyone. It is a cheap option in a cute, very bare bones cottage. It is best suited for low maintenance, easy travelers who are looking for an inexpensive place to crash after a long day of exploring. Guests who stay in the Shack share the bathroom in the main house with me - the bathroom has a separate entrance from the one I use in the main house. The cabin consists of 2 rooms - the upstairs has a double sized futon and a single futon mattress that can be used for guests, and the downstairs is a lounge/studio area. Note that the bedroom is accesses via a ladder type staircase. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for the right fit it is the perfect home base to explore Ithaca's many spenders, ideally located across the street from Stewart Park and the trailhead to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. and a short walk to the Stewart Park/downtown bus line and the East Shore swimming beach. Note, there is a cat who lives on the property and he sometimes comes to visit this studio. I see guests inviting him in occasionally to visit. If you're allergic, this isn't a good option for you.

Most campgrounds have children but Stars and Sage does not allow children. Please feel free to bring your own camping needs as we only provide a fire area. The site is approximately 19 feet by 39 feet in dimension. You will be close to Mexico village and about 20 minutes from the city of Oswego. Plenty of biking areas all around . Enjoy a hike in the trail or take a short trip to Mexico point to put your Canoe or kayaks in to enjoy Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario is well known for fishing. You may see deer, Fox, muskrat, etc. you may hear coyotes in the distance. A flash light and a hatchet and bug spray are definitely recommended to have on hand.

This former hunting cabin is on a 90-acre property that we are fixing up. It is surrounded by hundreds of acres of wild land, and involves a hike in on logging trails. Eventually we hope to conserve the land in perpetuity. The land was logged about 25 years ago and has regrown quite a bit. There are beautiful large maple, cherry, pine, and butternut trees, as well as young growth and wildflowers and diverse and abundant fungi. Our land is adjacent to the Finger Lakes Land Trust's King Preserve, so you will be camping in an area with 300 acres of forest and trails. It is also convenient to a diner, gas station, pizza/bar, a playground, fishing stream, and 2 ice cream stores (all walkable from the trailhead). Learn more about this land: This is an extremely rustic hunting cabin about a 15 - 30 minute (depending on hiker) hike up from the small village of Richford, NY. The hike is along old logging roads in the forest, but it's all uphill on the way in. We do not allow vehicle access to guests, but we have a vehicle we can use to deliver potable water (make sure to check with us to make sure we can provide extra water on the dates you need). There is a wood stove (for heat) and propane stove (for cooking). There is a triple decker bunk bed, you need to bring your own sleeping pad and sleeping bag. We have added a picnic table and small fire pit. There is an outhouse and hand washing station (seasonal). Fall leaf peeping is lovely, and as the leaves fall off, there are really nice views of the valley. You will have total privacy here!

Weekend Trip to Round Top Retreat

I spent the weekend at Round Top Retreat alone to unplug, relax, and recharge and it was exactly what I needed. The wood burning stoves did an excellent job at heating the cabin. It got below 40° at night but it was probably 60° inside with the fire going. The stove is also great for cooking. It was a little rainy during my trip so I did all my cooking indoors. The driveway continues uphill past the cabin and turns into a hiking trail. I think it's supposed to connect to the Robinsons Hollow State Forest Trail but I couldn't find it (the official trial head is just down the road). It was still an invigorating 2 mile walk. 3 nights at Tequila Sunrise: Lakeside Casitas

Great location right on Cayuga Lake for a long weekend getaway! Beautiful and private setting, friendly and thoughtful host! We would absolutely visit again! Las Casitas are comfortable, clean, and cozy - and literally steps to the water! Though we stayed for a few days in October when it was too chilly to go into the lake, this is an ideal spot to swim or drop in a kayak. Susan was a great host and checked in to make sure we had all that we needed! We brought our camping cooking gear to supplement what the cabin offers. Sitting by the Solo stove campfire at night was relaxing, and the porch is a perfect spot for morning coffee! The bed was so comfortable, and a small electric heater that was provided worked well to keep us warm when the temperature dipped lower overnight. Also, we had never used an incinerating toilet before - no issues, easy to use! This spot is private (close to Susan’s cabin but separated by trees) and quiet, while also close to everything the area has to offer - specifically state parks with amazing waterfall hiking (Taughannock is a quick 5 minute drive south, while Buttermilk Falls and Treman are 15-20 minutes south), and cideries and wineries (don’t miss the incredible Finger Lakes Cider House, just 10 minutes north). Likewise, it’s just up the road from Trumansburg and about 15 minutes into Ithaca for more amenities. Thanks again, Susan!

Happy pastures campground was comfortable and clean and adorable. We only spent the night then left in the morning, but the cabin was clean and warm and just what our family needed. We really wanted to explore and spend time on their beautiful land.

The cabin was beautiful. It was neat, clean, and welcoming. The host was friendly and helpful providing us with information about the surrounding area and materials for a fire. The showers and bathrooms were immaculate. We will definitely return.

4 nights at Camp Earth Connection

My grandson and I ejoyed four days at the storytime cabin. It was clean, attractive, and well equipped. I am 6 feet two inches tall and slept comfortably in the large bed. My grandson slept well in the bunk bed on the other side of the cabin. It was convenient to have the minifridge because I had to keep insulin cold. The desk, chair, lamp, and electric outlets were another nice convenience. Clean bathrooms and showers were perfectly only about 30 yards away. An outdoor kitchen sink and covered picnic table also helped. Peace and quiet were in abundance. Nature amazed and was beyond words. Camp Earth Connection is a wonderful break from the stresses of life! We took several hikes on trails in the adjacent state park and enjoyed the changing colors of the foliage. The trails were well-marked. A mother deer stopped to observe me and then walked off unimpressed. Her two fawns soon followed her. Other guest across an open field were quiet and respectful. Simple clear rules ensured the few guests did not intrude on eachother's enjoyment of nature and the facilities. I highly recommend Camp Earth Connection for an outstanding peaceful experience with nature in peace. Thank you!

The cabin was so clean and lovely! It was nicely secluded and cozy as well. We were especially happy to walk the trails in bloom and enjoy our coffee by the creek - watching the chipmunks scurry. We would absolutely come back for another visit!

We loved this little cabin! All I wanted for my birthday was a couple days in the woods, and this place was exactly what I needed. You can hear the water from the stream as you fall asleep at night, and the cabin was nice and cozy during a rainy afternoon. This was the perfect place to unplug, sit by the fire, and recharge. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Round Top Retreat

Perfect getaway for myself and my two poodles. My only regret is that I only booked one night. We will be back for sure, hopefully this year if there are weekends still available. The cabin is incredibly charming and it smells so good! Not sure what I expected, maybe earthy, musty smell? It felt like home. I am not necessarily a hardy, “rugged” girl and I felt the accommodations were perfect. The sleeping loft is so beautiful with the sky lights and the large back porch is wonderful for early morning coffee while feeling immersed in nature. My dogs and I hiked through the goldenrod fields approximately one mile up the hill- great little workout for me. We went into the forest as well, found really beautiful moss-covered trees and stumps. My standard poodle is a swim-a-holic and spent more of her time retrieving from the pond and practicing her dock-diving distance. Surprisingly, I had great cell phone service everywhere I went on the property. Overall, stunning place with the warmest, most welcoming host, Nancy, and we cannot wait to be back there!!

3 nights at Deja Yu

So welcoming and peaceful! When I met Savanna upon arrival, she said, “the camp is a labor of love.” And it shows! She and her husband Brad have made a little slice of heaven in a beautiful stand of hard woods and mature white pine. The cabin is off grid but powered up by a high-capacity battery. Super comfy and cozy, it’s a great one-room refuge. Bonus points for the screened porch entryway and easy chairs. A bath house is a short walk with an outdoor work sink and a lovely interior with tile floors, nice shower, and bath sink I’d be proud to have in my home. Warm, clean, and inviting, it’s a beautiful bath house. Tho there is no wi-fi, cell works well-enough to stream a movie or podcast. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Camp Whitman on Seneca Lake

We stayed in The Loon cabin. It was super cute and nice. Simple necessities with all bases covered. The property was so large and had shoreline and wooded and field walking so we never even needed to leave to walk the dogs. We came AFTER kids camp season and we will be back! Only a half hour drive to CMAC! Bryan was easy to reach and quick to respond.

Weekend Trip to Camp Whitman on Seneca Lake

The Heron cabin was great. Each of the 3 bedrooms had a heater and fan. The common area got chilly overnight but the bedroom stayed comfortable with the door closed. The grounds were great and our dog loved exploring. The views of the lake were spectacular and it was so peaceful sitting out on the dock. We already can’t wait to go back and take advantage of the pool, and use a kayak or canoe. One thing to note is there is no outside lock on the cabin, though we totally felt our belongings were safe when we left during the day.
