This is a beautiful piece of property located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and Wine Country of NY. It features a stunning spring fed waterfall and nice forest land. Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. Please order enough wood initially as I have found I spend a lot of time delivering extra wood to campers. It seems as if you will typically go through 2 bundles per night on average. Also I supply a contractor size garbage bag to you if you choose garbage removal. It is also a good idea to text me when you have a solid ETA so I can be here to take you to the site. I want to mention that the two sites closest to the waterfall are a slight hike in and can only accommodate up to 4 person tents so if a bigger group or vehicle camping you will be placed at another site. These are beautiful wooded camping country sites with plant and wild life located just 10 miles from downtown Corning, New York. There is one rustic cabin available for rent, along with a teepee site, and 2 tent sites. We are between the Finger Lakes and the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, just 1 mile off highway 99/15. Sites are located less than a 400 yard hike from the parking area, each site having both a picnic table and fire ring. There is an outhouse located within 250 yards from all sites. There is river access one mile from camp. Campers that require help getting to a site, can be driven up the hill via side by side. Every site is connected to state land with over 2,700 acres worth of hiking trails. We have a number of mountain bikes, kayaks, canoes, snow shoes, tents, sleeping bags/mats, etc. available for rent on site. In addition, if guests are interested in classes on site, I am a wilderness and survival expert willing to offer assistance as a guide through the trails, on the river, with setting up camp, etc. Some of my survival classes include fire making, shelter building, edible food foraging, self defense training, and fishing and hunting.

When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or std. bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is (I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions (aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

We have our own fields and wood for hiking, quiet dirt roads for walking or biking with horses often available for trail rides at an extra fee. We are also: 5 minutes from Stony Brook Park with its natural stone spring fed swimming pool and miles of hiking trails along the streams; 35 minutes from Letchworth Park, the Grand Canyon of the East with its amazing waterfalls. Whether it's a big event or the Arkport Summerfest, there's always something fun to do, besides just relaxing. We also offer limited stabling for outside horses so you can enjoy the trails at more than 5 different parks. Phillips Creek/Turnpike Forest/Palmers Pond, Coyle Hill, Sugar Hill, Wag trail, Mendon Ponds and several others. Have a different hobby? Just ask and we'll let you know what's available.

Weekend Trip to Round Top Retreat

I spent the weekend at Round Top Retreat alone to unplug, relax, and recharge and it was exactly what I needed. The wood burning stoves did an excellent job at heating the cabin. It got below 40° at night but it was probably 60° inside with the fire going. The stove is also great for cooking. It was a little rainy during my trip so I did all my cooking indoors. The driveway continues uphill past the cabin and turns into a hiking trail. I think it's supposed to connect to the Robinsons Hollow State Forest Trail but I couldn't find it (the official trial head is just down the road). It was still an invigorating 2 mile walk. I spotted lots of birds and a couple deer.

Weekend Trip to Elk Creek Escape

We spent 2 nights and had a nice stay. It was cooler weather so not many people camping, nice and quiet. Rus who manages the campground was awesome. Friendly, helpful, fun guy. Some feedback for the Hipcamp listing, all we got was an address which lead us to a cabin a mile or so away from the actual site. We had to knock on someone’s door to get help figuring out where to go. I had messaged the host early in the day to let them know when we’d be arriving. No response.

We loved this private rural space! The well water was delicious, and having cows and sheep and turkeys on our road made taking a walk so interesting! It was easy to get to Ithaca and Watkins Glen. Dawn, our host was very responsive and helpful. We even had wifi!

Weekend Trip to Stoney Goat Homestead

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at Stony Goat Farm. It was magical. Gary is a humble and helpful and generous host. We had a romantic and adventurous little getaway and I definitely want to go back. The fall foliage was majestic, the animals were endearing and the cabin was quaint and perfect. It got pretty chilly during our late October trip but the stove kept us cozy. This place is a hidden gem of New York.

I arrived late, but Matt and Sheryl were so welcoming and helpful, I felt comfortable right away. Very easy to communicate with. Nice, private, flat place for a little car camping overnight. Just right.

Site adjoins large gravel area. Most critical: Do NOT drive in roped off areas! (septic system and soft areas there). You are welcome to walk thru the woods and down to the stream with small waterfall.

This is a fantastic off grid experience! Gary is so friendly and helpful that I felt right at home. The goats and pigs are friendly and my tent site was perfect with a fire pit nearby. I would recommend this experience to anyone.

Ivan had a great little spot for an RV/travel trailer. It’s relatively flat, enough space to comfortably set up and he offers water and electric access. It’s a super short drive to Ithaca. Plus, he’s a really great guy and I enjoyed chatting with him.
