Grateful Acres was one of the coolest campsites I've ever stayed at. They really balance taking care of you while giving you plenty of privacy. The canvas tent my friend and I rented had everything from spare phone chargers to an electric fly swatter included in it. It was incredibly helpful (I doubt you've ever seen accommodations like that at other campsites, private or public). Stephanie and her son Noah were such friendly and welcoming people. I would 100% recommend others to camp at Grateful Acres. If you have down time, go and appreciate their Grateful Dead themed cornhole they have set up. It's wicked

1 night at Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

I came and stayed on one of their older campsites a while back and they have done an incredible job creating more beautiful spaces to retreat from the city. This time we booked the Sparrow and the two new campsites for an overnight with our kids and their friends. From the moment we arrived, it's apparent how much care and intention goes into creating each site. Everything felt thoughtfully placed and it made for a really pleasant and fun experience. We spent the day hiking down to the waterfall (steep but beautiful!). It was too cool to swim but we took off our shoes and waded and even found a fossil. At night we fully enjoyed the fire pit and it was a perfect experience that we deeply needed. Tip: bring a few extra solar lights or lanterns for your path at night, especially if you’re staying in one of the more tucked-away campsites. It gets dark at night but makes for incredible stargazing. I couldn’t recommend this host and their property more. We left rested, reconnected, and already talking about the next trip to come back.

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

We loved camping at Upper Shire! The cabin was amazing. It was cozy and had all of the amenities that we needed and then some! It was well built and very cute. We definitely recommend taking the canoe out on the little pond. It was gorgeous. Joanna was extremely hospitable. We are definitely coming back.

Grateful acres is a beautiful, scenic camping area. Every year I take my young sons on a dudes trip and this year we enjoyed a couple of nights at Grateful acres. My work schedule changed last minute and I needed to adjust my nights, Stephanie approved the change quickly. She was also kind enough to offer us a cabin, as opposed to our tent site, due to inclement weather. We didn't take her up on the offer, but it was much appreciated and very kind nonetheless. I am a dead fan, own an off leash dog training and boarding business, and love the outdoors, Grateful acres checked all of those boxes. We were fortunate enough to essentially have the place to ourselves being this early in the season, I'm sure thats not always the case! HIGHLY recommend checking this place out.

I recently had the pleasure of staying overnight at Wyomanick Farm, and it was a delightful experience. The lush landscape and beautifully mowed paths created a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. I loved wandering around the property, enjoying the picturesque ponds, vibrant wildflowers, and towering pines. While the frogs sang us to sleep at night, Tom was incredibly accommodating and pleasant, making us feel welcomed throughout our visit. I highly recommend Wyomanick Farm for a peaceful getaway!

Weekend Trip to Graceful Acres Farmstay

Great campsite, very beautiful and private! We enjoyed our stay. Hearing the birds was so amazing, I recommend the Merlin Bird ID app to help identify them! We also brought battery powered fairy lights to hang up in the tent for an extra magical touch. It rained on and off the whole weekend and we stayed warm and dry. It would be nice if newspapers were supplied for the wood stove as I had to use up my glove box supply of napkins haha, but other than that had everything we needed! While we brought our own supplies and food, the farm store was a great touch knowing if we needed anything, it was just down the road. Would stay again!

This is a magical place to disappear and forget about real life for a while. The air is so fresh and the mountain views are exactly what we needed surrounding us, along with our hosts. Stephanie and Noah will do anything possible to provide a comfortable stay for their guests. We had a cold and rainy weekend and any time our heater ran out of propane, they had more. Stephanie even asked if we needed anything from town when they ran errands. I had read reviews (all good) regarding Site 1 being “closest to the road”. To clarify, it is a 7+ mile dirt road with 1-2 cars passing per hour. If anything, it confirmed how off-the-grid we really were.

My husband and I stayed at The Hemlock site for 3 nights. We agreed that it was the most beautiful site that we have ever camped at. It was clean, secluded and well laid out. The bathroom was spotless and beautifully constructed. The extra touches- well seasoned firewood, water for cleaning, and wagon for moving gear were much appreciated. Adele really thought of everything!

Absolutely beautiful natural camping experience on Mikes Land, every site is amazing and surrounded by trees, from the breath taking views up top on the “green mt” site to the site by the small pond it was a wonderful private peaceful trip, mike is an amazing easy going guy who respects your privacy and also you may be visited by the cutest group of chickens ever! Right across the street is shaftsbury lake state park for amazing hikes and only 10/15 minutes to bennington VT for any supplies needed. 10/10 will definitely be back to healing springs again!

Christian was very responsive in advance about answering questions. He greeted us, gave us a brief tour of the farm, and escorted is to our camp site. We had views of the mountain from our site. Sites are private, not stacked on top of one another. Trails on the property and you can connect to the state forest from this property. 4 minutes from the new visitor center and trailhead to various trails. It was a perfect location to camp before hiking and an amazing stay overall. We'll be back.

Catskills Forest Pondside Hideaway

With three private sites deep in the Catskills, this special land has a variety of mature trees, open meadows with ferns and dogwood stands, remnants of an old apple orchard, trails across old rock walls and mountain streams through gently sloping topography, and abundant birds, frogs, newts, and other wildlife. Plus one of the best swimming ponds in all of the Catskills! There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer. Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies. Note: the only "Kitchen available" (Hipcamp's wording) is a grill over firepit. Also, toilet is a bucket-style dry composting toilet with urine diversion inside a protected shed. Camp site is a short hike along private trails from parking/shed area. Depending on weather/season, it's sometimes muddy.

There is some road noise from Sawkill road & the Thruway dependent on the spot you choose to set up. If your’e tenting you can be in the woods way up in the forest, but most campers prefer our spot near the Sawkill River. I have fire pits, common outdoor furniture & a gasBBQ’s that can be used. There is chickens, bees & goats & 2 guardian life stocks dogs that live with the goats. I also have a small Terrier & a farm cat. A lot of outdoor activity with bird watching, bunnies, deer & the groundhogs say good night. It’s rural yet only 10 minutes to Kingston uptown and about 20 minutes to Woodstock. About 1 hr from Hunter & Windham Mountain resorts and 45 minutes to Belleayre Ski. We also have a wood fired oven and offer pizza making classes as well as catered meals.

Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

NOTE: THIS IS A QUIET AREA for reconnecting with nature. Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty and power. It is considered a sacred site that has been central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka, also known as the Mohawks, Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, Kahonrakén:ra Waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into a hidden pool, which then empties again into the river, running into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. The effect is transporting. Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world. There are two tiny cabins on the property. Both sites have extra space to set up a tent if needed. The Forest Cabin is insulated with hemp, has electric lights and outlets, is bigger inside with a work desk, Anderson crank out windows, a bigger deck, and two twin mattresses under the bed if you need them. The Wildflower Cabin is a bit deeper in the forest, a little smaller, uninsulated with two walls of old-school wood-pane windows that open out to the forest completely, one twin mattress under the bed and a powerstrip for light electric use. Both sites have private fire pits, solar shower stalls, fans for cooling and an electric heater for chilly nights. It's a 10 minute hike down the gorge to the waterfall from the campsites. Each campsite has a private path down to the waterfall, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire at your fire pit and fall asleep under the stars listening to the waterfall and the river below. Be aware that the hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Please be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and to keep noise down after 10pm to chillax and enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside that makes Schoharie so special. In the big red barn at the entrance to the campsites there is a community room with a charging station, cold water sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, grills, and a port-a-potty for your use. There are also 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. :) This is a leave no trace site. Please take all your trash with you when you leave. And please bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms with fresh produce and organic meat within 5 miles of the house. There are several farm stands and a general store a few miles away, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, and the Sap Bush Country Store and Café just up the hill in West Fulton. Mustang Valley, a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue center, is just down the road. Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, among many others.

This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool. There’s a comfy hanging double bed with a high-quality mattress. Please note: guests need to bring their own sheets, bedding, and pillows. Terrace Farm is a multi-generation farm on 160 wooded acres of Tremper Mountain located on the outskirts of the Hamlet of Phoenicia in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. World class fly fishing on the Esopus Creek, private hiking trail to overlooks of the Esopus Valley and historic rock quarries as well as several public hiking trails including the Long Path are all within walking distance. Also located within walking distance is the Hamlet of Phoenicia. We have three sites available. Beechwood at Terrace Farm is the quietest and the most secluded. This will accommodate six guests. Maplewood at Terrace Farm can accommodate eight guests. The Hemlocks at Terrace Farm is our largest site and can handle twelve guests.

With the main house built in 1860 this property has seen many uses such as a farm, retail Christmas store, church, rental cabins, and a gravel quarry among other things. I now try to keep the back acreage by the brook and pond as natural as possible for habitat, as well as you the campers! Learn more about this land: Most will have cell service at the site or there is a free public Wi-Fi in Wilmington center. Private yet convenient to Downtown Wilmington, VT. Located between the Harriman reservoir and Lake Raponda, both great for boating, fishing and swimming. As well as the Deerfield River across the street, which runs through town. There is a public hiking trail that goes through the property. It goes from the Fairview ave. boat launch in Wilmington, all the way up to West Dover. You can access this at the back of the site. The site is only a minutes drive from downtown Wilmington, or you can hike/bike there on the trail (approx 15 min). In Wilmington there is plenty of shopping, gifts, coffee, restaurants, gas, liquor store. I also have dry, split firewood available for $10 on site. Please don't bring your own unless it is prepackaged from shaws or bought from one of the local sellers right around me. Transportation of out of state firewood can bring invasive beetles to our forests...
