First, the hosts were very communicative and graciously allowed us a last minute change of plans. They were great! Loved this spot. Really nicely perched on a hill with lots of greenery and trees and a nice walk down to the river. Felt very private. Not too far from the car, but far enough to feel peaceful and wild. Can’t say enough good things.

The spot itself us totally awesome - right by the river and you get some sweet soothing water sounds when you're going to sleep. It's also pretty nice that its right by "civilization" but right on the edge of town and the hike is just enough distance to feel like you're away from things. The only thing was that the tent that was placed for the compostable toilet was knocked down at some point. We might have been able to fix it ourselves but we only stayed one night and didn't need it that badly. Overall, totally rocking spot that I'd highly recommend for anyone looking for a quaint spot to go to for camping!

Perfect Site for Privacy

My friend and I had a lovely stay! Definitely be prepared for a hike to and from the site. I’d say no less than 3 people to the River Site because it gets dark very quickly, if you need to go back to the car around sunset. The markers to and from the site are perfectly navigable in daylight and at night with a headlamp, but in lowlights, can be difficult, even with a headlamp. But it was the perfect site to expose my friend to “dispersed” camping in a more controlled setting!

Great spot to enjoy the woods, parking was pretty easy and straightforward, the campsite at the tree swing was quite spacious. The walk to the river is quite the adventure, would recommend just a backpack and 1 floaty if you plan on chillin in the river lazy style. Go to the left for the swimming area, the right is rocks haha. Had to explore and find that out. Found a cool clay bowl that had the letter V on it. Good spot.

We had a great weekend camping at this site! All of the directions from Jessica and Greg were clear and easy to follow, so all good there. The site was pretty spacious and there's a nice flat, mulched area to pitch your tent. The walk from where to park your car to the Swing Site wasn't bad at all either. You can hear a lot of train noise overnight, but we kind of liked that, it was very relaxing. We'd definitely come back!

Camping at Dreamland was great! The site is private but still in an area where if you need something its right down the road. Don't recommend a tent larger than a 6 person, but our 6 person fit perfect. Trail from the car parking is easy to find, but slippery when wet. Would recommend to a friend and would be happy to stay again. Dog did great and had lot of space to roam

We enjoyed our stay. There’s only 1 flat spot for a 2 person tent right near the fire pit. The next best option is in a gully so don’t camp there if there’s a chance of rain and you need to set up two tents. My buddy’s massive 8 person tent was ridiculous to bring up there but even smaller tents would have been flooded to some degree. Otherwise a great spot. I would recommend it just check for rain in the forecast.

My fiancee and I stayed here while we were in town for a concert. The site was very well-maintained and felt very private. There was a short hike down to some amazing river access for swimming and hanging out. The only drawback was some pretty loud gunfire from a nearby gun range but I would not let that dissuade you from staying at this lovely site.

Amazing spot back off the road and close to downtown Saugerties. We wanted to get out of the city and drove up with our two dogs. Everyone had a blast. Definitely check out the river and bring good shoes as the walk is a bit steep at parts.

Really beautiful site! Pack light because the hike in can be tough on a hot day. Recommend hanging perishable foods for the sake of avoiding critters. Definitely spend time down by the river. Bring strong bug spray!

Lovely campsite! We were unable to do a long hike into camp this weekend due to my partners ankle injury’s— so Greg’s property was perfect. There is a short trail across the labeled parking area to the campsite. The site itself has plenty of tree cover, was relatively bug free, and easy to bring supplies in and out of. The swing at the site is currently out, I would love to revisit when it’s back up and running. The description doesn’t lie about the trail down to the river—my gps clocked it as about 1 mile and 400 ft ascent round trip. There are ropes to help out, but make sure you’re in your best hiking shoes. Lovely little swim spot down there though!

Lovely space near the Catskills! River was magical and all to ourselves given we were the only ones there. Composting toilet in good conditions, bring your own toilet paper. Low cell connection, lost near the river.

My buddy and I had such a great time camping here. Finding the right trail was a bit tricky at first but the map was a big help. I would suggest screenshotting both the map and directions prior to arrival since cell service out there is not the best. We camped at site 3 which, if you are in good shape, is about a 10 minute walk. It’s a bit steep at parts so I would pack light if you can. We had to make two trips with all of our stuff and it was doable but definitely strenuous. Once you’re there it is so nice and secluded. You can clearly see the creek from the site and the walk down to the water only takes a minute or two. Note that it is pretty steep though, so if you’re not in the best shape or if you have young children with you it may be pretty challenging. The creek itself is beautiful. There is enough room to stand along the side and go fishing (we caught a few trout) and if you’re feeling adventurous you can walk/swim out to the rock shelf in the middle of the creek. Just make sure to bring water shoes for that since it is VERY rocky. From there you can do more fishing or you can walk to the far end and go swimming as it is a bit deeper there (maybe 5-6 feet). Overall I would highly recommend checking it out and I’m excited to go back again in the future!

Dreamland vs Nightmare

First of all, there is construction within 50 feet of the site that I was staying at. Not only Friday but all day Saturday as well. I had construction workers walking through the camp totally unacceptable and none of this was communicated when I made A reservation. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I left a day early. I sent a message to the host. They never replied. I can’t see how they were one of the top Hipcamp in New York State.
