The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country. We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible. We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can. And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

Bare your soul (and everything else) in the Desert. Please read the full description. Step out of your tent and feel the sun kiss your cheeks…all of them. This is a private, Adult-Only (18+) clothing-optional dry tent camping experience designed for those who want to strip away the noise of the world. Because we are a hidden gem and still growing, there is a high chance that you will have the horizon to yourself. Imagine a morning coffee or sunset stroll where the only other living soul you might see are the hawks and the bunnies. We are a work in progress with a mission: turning one man’s trash into campground treasures. We work to upcycle as many materials as possible, including a former football field turned grassy landing sites for tents and RV’s. Solar showers from recycled pallets. Signage created from old drill pipe and bed boards. Our 15 acres butts up against some BLM land offering more terrain to explore in the buff. When you’re done exploring, cool off with a skinny dip in our 16’ x 32’ above ground pool. Or just lounge in the sun and work on your tan. Gateway to the 4 Corners: Within 45 minutes (New Mexico): • World-class fishing at San Juan Quality Waters, or a day at Navajo Lake State Park, or Farmington Lake. • Step back in time at Aztec Ruins, Salmon Ruins or Jackson Lake Wildlife Refuge. • Grab a tube for a fun afternoon on the Animas River Within 60 minutes (Colorado): • Hike or drive LaPlata Canyon (only 30 minutes away!) or have an adventure at Purgatory Ski Resort. • Visit world-famous Mesa Verde National Park, Canyon of the Ancients or Chimney Rock. • Check out Lake Nighthorse • Spend a day in Historical Downtown Durango. If you’re looking for a crowd, you’ll have to bring it with you. If you want a quiet, liberating sanctuary where you can be your most authentic self, we can’t wait to host you.

STARGAZING & MYSTERIOUS LIGHTS ABOUND! Dusty Rabbit Van Life @ Schrimsher Ranch is an alternative camping and Star Gazing location just outside of ROSWELL, yet close to the open road. A great place to relax under the stars, have a camp fire, and kick back next to your travel rig after a long day. You might just want to crash for the night in a safe location out on the rangeland or stay a day or two to enjoy the land to walk, mountain bike antelope trails, and maybe even Sniffers the pronghorn antelope will find ya before you head out. This is a primitive site, so leave no trace practice is appreciated and pack in/out is how we do it here. If you come in the summer prepare the morning coffee early and enjoy the desert sun's rays hit the Capitan, but by 9am it will be hot, so be ready! Best star gazing and satellite watching in the world! I have several sites to choose from. But remember to keep an eye on the wind and weather as it can get crazy out here sometimes…..!!! I try to keep the sites stocked with firewood, but fill free to bring your own. Lonely Bull Camp 1 is my most popular site. It is very private and is easily accessible by most vehicles and campers. Ask about Lonely Bull Camp 4x4 if you have a capable vehicle. Amazing stars!! Old Highway Camp is a great alternative if you want something closer to the highway and have a safe private place to pull over, camp, kickback, make a fire and get back to your life on the on the road in the morning. It is closer to the highway, but is quite at night and has great star gazing. Enjoy being greeted by The Mountain in the morning. Let me know where you would like to stay and I will do my best to accommodate you! Safe travels!

Sunny Mellow Eco Villa is the land with a great history. The VERY QUIET, secret Shangra-La Valley just over the ridge from Route 66 (and I-40) was the camping place for Billy the Kid and his gang! They could quickly saddle up when the posted lookout on the ridge above signaled the passing of The Corrupt Santa Fe Cartel that bid to hold control of business throughout Lincoln County. Even more stunning, it was the Tijeras Indian Pueblo Tribe's place of roaming and rest. The land now sports an Organic Vineyard, Orchard and Vegetable Garden that guests my forage from when in bloom. A Large, Clean, Secluded Redwood Yoga Deck, Ping-Pong, Horseshoes, and a Giant Swing Set, along with patios and lounges that are found over the 8 acre land, and all joined by a network of Scenic Pathways and Bridges that connect The Vineyard, The Orchard, The Garden, The Solar Array, The Swing, The Yoga Deck, Ping Pong Terrace, Horse shoe Pit... Perfect Place and Feel The Akashic Records of Where Billy the Kid and his gang camped and the Tijeras Indians Lived! 8 Minutes to Albuquerque. 7 minutes to Cedar Crest, 20 minutes to The Infinite View off the Sandia Crest, 10 minutes to Edgewood. 50 minutes to Santa Fe. Located in THE CENTER of The ZIA of NEW MEXICO! Views of meadows, mountains and the Enchanting New Mexico sky from the Every stopping point on the Eco Villa Trail System. Ride a bike, take a sauna, Read a book... Take a nap. Enjoy the Unique Feel and Romance of the Yoga Yurt, The Awesome Modern Outdoor Kitchen, The delicious KING Bed. Watch 4K TV with 900 download and 35 upload! Enjoy Dining at your Private HipCamp Site! Hike into the Cedro National forest a short walk to the end of the road. If you feel sociable, join in a campfire with the guests at The Chi-Treehouse or Invite guests to the Fire-pit at your own Yoga Yurta! "Magical" is how guests describe Top of the Trail, and it's easy to see why. High desert, Rocky Mountains, and the Old Santa Fe Trail converge here and evoke images of early caravans. Artifacts left behind by previous travelers tell of journeys taken millennia ago and of a precious connection with the natural world that we seem to have forgotten. On this special piece of land, we have created a Vintage American Caravansary - a place where travelers can feel comforted, healed, and inspired by the natural world. And all just a day's walk to Santa Fe - only 15 minutes if you have a car.

Tucumcari, NM · 2 sites · Tents, RVs
Welcome to Boom Boom's Campground at Tex & Edna's! We’ve opened the first two of our twelve scrappy, scruffy little campsites sitting on just under four acres, a hair outside Tucumcari city limits. You’ll find star-splashed skies overhead, and the Route 66 glow of Tucumcari is just a hop and a skip down the road. Small-town convenience is literally a stone’s throw away. We’ve even got a fancy grocery store where they sell those little boxes of cheese from the world-famous Tucumcari Mountain Cheese Factory. Isn’t that right, Tex? (That’s right, Edna.) You’ll have access to a bathroom and shower and if you ask real nice (and we remembered to pay the gas bill), we even have hot water. If you’re tired of smelling like bug spray, we’ve got a few rooms in the rock house you can maybe rent (but not right now because we have been too busy and they don't have usable beds in 'em ) assuming some other campers or one of those traveling nurses haven’t already taken them. Isn’t that right, Tex? (That’s right, Edna.) We’ve got all the features you’d expect from a primitive campground, plus a few extras like a place to build your fire as long as there’s no burn ban in effect. Please check with us before lighting a fire, ’cause when fires happen and they shouldn’t, they can get scary real fast. And we will throw you under the bus, not that we’d have to since the firefighters can always tell where it started. The wind pushes the fire away from your campsite, leaving a burn pattern like a big arrow pointing right back at you. If you don’t believe me, just ask Mr. Williams, who had to explain to his wife why he couldn’t come home from his hunting trip just yet. While I was writin’ this, Tex told me, “Edna, erase all that and just say, ‘Nice campground. Cheap.’”

Bakers Akers is located in what used to be Nebblett, New Mexico but is now Virden, New Mexico. The one room Nebblett school house was located on this property. Virden was settled by the Mormons when they were ran out of old Mexico by Poncho Villa. Kit Carson took this route guiding General Kearney and the Army of the west to California during the Mexican American war. It is now being discussed that Coronado may have come through this area also. The farm was used for breeding and training race horses. It is now a cow/calf operation. Learn more about this land: Camp on the Gila River amongst the century old Cottonwoods and Mulberry trees, with Bermuda grass carpeting. Plenty of shade to pitch a tent or park under. Wildlife abounds with deer, beaver, turkeys, javelina, and a large variety of birds. Located on a eighty acre cattle ranch. Quiet with great views of stars at night and majestic mountains in the day. The camp grounds are located beyond the cattle pastures and next to the Gila River. Fire pits available and plenty of wood to gather for burning.
