The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.
And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

Our 15 acres butts up against some BLM land offering more terrain to explore in the buff. When you’re done exploring, cool off with a skinny dip in our 16’ x 32’ above ground pool. Or just lounge in the sun and work on your tan.

A great place to relax under the stars, have a camp fire, and kick back next to your travel rig after a long day. You might just want to crash for the night in a safe location out on the rangeland or stay a day or two to enjoy the land to walk, mountain bike antelope trails, and maybe even Sniffers the pronghorn antelope will find ya before you head out. This is a primitive site, so leave no trace practice is appreciated and pack in/out is how we do it here. If you come in the summer prepare the morning coffee early and enjoy the desert sun's rays hit the Capitan, but by 9am it will be hot, so be ready! Best star gazing and satellite watching in the world!
I have several sites to choose from. But remember to keep an eye on the wind and weather as it can get crazy out here sometimes…..!!! I try to keep the sites stocked with firewood, but fill free to bring your own.
Lonely Bull Camp 1 is my most popular site. It is very private and is easily accessible by most vehicles and campers.
Ask about Lonely Bull Camp 4x4 if you have a capable vehicle. Amazing stars!!
Old Highway Camp is a great alternative if you want something closer to the highway and have a safe private place to pull over, camp, kickback, make a fire and get back to your life on the on the road in the morning. It is closer to the highway, but is quite at night and has great star gazing. Enjoy being greeted by The Mountain in the morning. Lush high desert river oasis on three acres, nestled in a fertile valley in Carson National Forest, right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. At the moment we have five options 1) Spacious, cozy, and private Vintage Camper that can be heated, with kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. 2) A Gazebo Tree shaded campsite for tents only, with fire pit, outdoor seating and the tranquil sounds of the gently flowing river in the background. 3) The Riverside Gypsy Wagon with electric, heat and kitchen, 4) The Riverside Campsite for tents, and 5) If you would like to bring your own camper/or tent we have a Willow brush enclosed meadow with stunning views.
You can go on a panoramic ridge hike right off the property, or just relax by the flowing creek, or listen to the bird symphonies. Some campsites have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house, others have private outhouses.

The land is beautifully wild with lots of animal life. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. If you're pulling your trailer/camper you'll need 4W.
With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and/or a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

Ducks, geese, herons, egrets, sandpipers, kingfishers, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, bobcats, and texas horned lizards. Native plants including mesquite, cactus and puncture vine, also know as goatheads.
🌿 About Bosque del Rio Camp
Bosque del Rio Camp is situated on the Rio Grande between Elephant Butte Lake and Caballo Lake, bordered by 15,000 acres of surrounding BLM open space. The setting offers a quiet, natural river corridor with beautiful views and direct access to the Rio Grande.
River conditions vary seasonally. Peak flows typically occur from May 1 through June 30. Water levels are much lower in summer, fall, and winter. Guests planning to float the river should plan for early-season visits.
Bosque del Rio Camp is privately owned and lightly occupied. The host may occasionally be on-site in a separate RV, but the setting remains very private and quiet.

We’ve even got a fancy grocery store where they sell those little boxes of cheese from the world-famous Tucumcari Mountain Cheese Factory. Isn’t that right, Tex?

You’ll have access to a bathroom and shower and if you ask real nice (and we remembered to pay the gas bill), we even have hot water.
If you’re tired of smelling like bug spray, we’ve got a few rooms in the rock house you can maybe rent (but not right now because we have been too busy and they don't have usable beds in 'em ) assuming some other campers or one of those traveling nurses haven’t already taken them. Isn’t that right, Tex?

We’ve got all the features you’d expect from a primitive campground, plus a few extras like a place to build your fire as long as there’s no burn ban in effect. Please check with us before lighting a fire, ’cause when fires happen and they shouldn’t, they can get scary real fast.
And we will throw you under the bus, not that we’d have to since the firefighters can always tell where it started. The wind pushes the fire away from your campsite, leaving a burn pattern like a big arrow pointing right back at you. If you don’t believe me, just ask Mr. Williams, who had to explain to his wife why he couldn’t come home from his hunting trip just yet.
While I was writin’ this, Tex told me, “Edna, erase all that and just say, ‘Nice campground. Cheap.’”

We have very good well water. Drinking water filtration is through Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis Water Purification System G3P600: pre-RO carbon and particulate filter, then RO, then post-RO carbon filter, then UV sterilization, then remineralization… you get the safest water that “tastes” great! Conserve drinking water by using direct well water for other purposes — also safe, but does not use up the filtering and conditioning resources.

Bakers Akers
is located in what used to be Nebblett, New Mexico but is now Virden, New Mexico. The one room Nebblett school house was located on this property.
Virden was settled by the Mormons when they were ran out of old Mexico by Poncho Villa.
Kit Carson took this route guiding General Kearney and the Army of the west to California during the Mexican American war.
It is now being discussed that Coronado may have come through this area also.
The farm was used for breeding and training race horses. It is now a cow/calf operation.

Camp on the Gila River amongst the century old Cottonwoods and Mulberry trees, with Bermuda grass carpeting. Plenty of shade to pitch a tent or park under.
Wildlife abounds with deer, beaver, turkeys, javelina, and a large variety of birds.
Located on a eighty acre cattle ranch. Quiet with great views of stars at night and majestic mountains in the day.
The camp grounds are located beyond the cattle pastures and next to the Gila River.
Fire pits available and plenty of wood to gather for burning.
Eleven miles from the historic town of a Duncan Arizona, filled with little markets, craft store, antique shop, rock shop, and home town restaurants, if any needs arise or an itch needs scratching.
With prior notice and extra fees a New Mexican dutch-oven dinner and hayride can be included.

We stayed in #7 The Pines. It was so relaxing having a spread of land for your own spot and not side by side with others. They also were so thoughtful to leave the bag of extra items that may and often do come in handy at camp along with the grill utensils. The best addition, besides the bird feeders, was their jug of water hung on the tree for handwashing. We also loved their well water. If we come back to this area we definitely will have the E<< on our list. Only drawback if staying more than a few nights is showers, but we didn’t need full showers this trip. Their property was awesome and it looks like they are in the works for new projects.

What a great spot. Len, the host, was super friendly and helpful. He even loaned us bear spray to take on our hikes, “just in case”. (No bears; just a small herd (flock?) of wild turkeys. Sites were unshaded, but my solar panels loved it. The hiking on the property is fantastic (short but so tranquil, shady and scenic with rock formations). 30 minutes into Las Vegas (NM, not NV!), where there is plenty of shopping for essentials and not so essentials. Would *def*’return!

Weekend Trip to El Campo Glamping LLC
We loved glamping with El Campo. The Safari tent was so beautiful—with everything you could need and more. Great porch and rockers to sit with a drink and watch hummingbirds, deer, sunset and even the rain. A hot shower was especially welcome after a sandy day at White Sands. What was perhaps unexpected was just how welcome the extra blankets, warm bed, and study tent were during an especially intense thunderstorm. The site was secluded and just what we were hoping for.—definitely set the bar high! Thanks for a great stay!

We had a great time at ECC site 3. The weather was nice and cool and the views were great. We really enjoyed the lighting at night that is displayed throughout the campgrounds. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

This was a beautiful spot to spend a couple of nights with some friends. The yurts are spacious and have everything you need. The beds and the couch are very comfortable to sleep on! The hosts are amazing and work hard to make your stay the best you can imagine. I’ll be back when I need a nature retreat!

This place is well thought out, centrally located, and beautifully executed. There were many amenities and comforts provided by the hosts. Tiana and her family even stopped in a few times to make sure we didn't need anything and to share local tips and fellowship with us. 10/10 would stay here again and highly recommend to anyone looking for an off-the beaten path stay near Farmington.

We spent two nights at site #8 and LOVED IT! "The cliffs" was a perfect spot for tent camping. The layout is great with enough room to have separated eating, firepit, and tent areas. The pond was surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The accommodations were perfect!
