The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. We continue to offer camps for children and their parents and grandparents (family camps), as well as welcome adults and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge.

Register for our nature education activities and resources lead by The Wilderness Institute (available for all of our guests). These topics include sustainability, recycling, composting, water conservation, wildfire prevention, outdoor safety, and nature awareness along with the use of our hiking trails.

There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

The land is beautifully wild with lots of animal life. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. If you're pulling your trailer/camper you'll need 4W.
With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and/or a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

We are excited to share our little A-frame cabin in the woods! The cabin is quite rustic ( and quite cute). Think of it like glamping -- outhouse, wood burning stove, dirt roads, and beautiful trees and mountains included.
** To keep the cabin affordable, all guests are responsible for cleaning up the cabin at the end of the stay and making it ready for the next guest. There are no cleaners coming in after you. **
The cabin is a 432 square foot A-frame in a small mountain community, which is surrounded by the Jemez National Forest. There are a few places to hike right from the front door, and many, many trailheads within a 20 minute drive.
Fenton Lake is a short drive away, and the San Antonio Hot Springs is a 2.5 mile hike, bike, or ski away right out the front door for the confident adventurer.

This glamp zone occupies only 1.25 acres. Part of our mission in creating this space is to bring folks together. We encourage campers to mingle. Maybe organize a group float down the Chama. The float from just above Bodes to our very own shore is wonderful. It takes about two hours. There is one challenging spot, but beside that, the float is calm and tranquil.
Please be aware, we have cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses and dogs that live on the property. Your pets are welcome only if they are guaranteed to not pester or hurt our posse of pets. Also, we will not tolerate excessive barking or inappropriate running around or bothering ourselves or other guests. You must pick up all your and your pets waste and take it with you when you leave.

A word about our wildlife is important at this point. We are a registered wildlife sanctuary and take all steps necessary to protect it. This is the desert southwest. Diamondback rattlesnakes, black widow spiders, quail, rabbits, and the rare horned lizard all call our land their habitat. Stay alert! Issues with wildlife are very rare; any concerns will immediately be handled by host.
Your Camp Host, Chef Üdø, is onsite most days and evenings, and has 30 years' experience in the catering and private chef biz, and as a camp host. He's happy to coordinate hot meals for you and your companions! No more need to go into town to get a pizza or some icky fast food! We will make you a homemade pizza, dry-aged steak, brined chicken, smoked Wagyu burger, or lasagna...all in-house. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! Chef Üdø maintains current local food handler's certification, as well as HAACP federal certification. Prices are friendly and competitive with local restaurants. Vacuum-sealed frozen meals, aka “sous vide” available for most recipes.

We feature unparalleled views of the sunrise over the mountains, as well as convenient access to Lincoln National Forest, White Sands National Monument, BLM off-road parklands, and nearby Alamogordo. Pet Guidelines: Up to 2 pets are welcome. If you leave your pet unattended, we kindly ask that they are safely secured or kenneled inside. Due to high summer heat, leaving pets unattended for long periods is strongly discouraged.
Embracing Authentic Desert Life
We want you to love the desert as much as we do, so here are a few fun "insider tips" for your stay:
Desert Flora (Goat Heads): Natural stickers and thorns are a staple of desert terrain! We highly recommend wearing sneakers or boots outdoors. Doggy booties are great for sensitive paws, though most pets handle it just fine.
Monsoon Season (June–Sept): Summer brings vibrant desert blooms, warmer temps, and quick afternoon rain. To keep curious desert flies outside where they belong, just give the front door a quick snap when coming and going!
Desert Critters: The dome is on a regular professional pest control plan! However, because we are nestled right in the high desert, an occasional curious bug might still pop in to say hello—it's just a natural part of desert living. Keeping doors closed helps keep them outside where they belong!
Security: For your peace of mind, Ring cameras are located on the exterior of the dome.

Michaela's place was just as described and what a treat! Yes, the gardens, but also getting chats in the garden with her and over coffee in the morning. My service husky and I took hostel cots in the living room and; super comfy, warm and inviting. Her husband, Ernesto, greeted us and saw us off with a smile. I would definitely stay again, I feel like we have so much more to talk about!

The camp was much better than expected and had a plethora of amenities such as super clean bathrooms (including the cleanest portapotty I’ve ever seen) and showers, plenty of grills, well stocked kitchen, etc. Ciana and Bobcat Brad were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend taking an archery lesson. I only wish we were staying in a cooler season as it was pretty brutal in the heat of the day. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from our treehouse though.

I am glad I had a truck to get to the cabin, although in summer any AWD would be fine! Convenient to Valles Caldera. The hike from the cabin to the hot springs was easy and beautiful... until the 750ft elevation drop, and then it was ADVENTUROUS (there is a rope) and beautiful! The cabin had everything needed. Maybe BYO camp chair for comfort. Outdoor shower was awesome! The outhouse smells like an outhouse, but is well-kept. A great retreat space!

We loved this property and would absolutely stay here again. Ciana and Brad are incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We were interested in taking a survival course that didn’t appear available to book while we were there and Brad was able to meet with us for 2 hours and share his amazing wealth of knowledge with us. Ciana was very kind and attentive, checking in to see that we were comfortable in the tent. The property overall was relaxing and peaceful and the kitchen met our needs perfectly. And we loved watching all the humming birds!

This is such a nice space to enjoy Albuquerque without being at a hotel. As a solo female traveler with a dog, I felt incredibly safe. I had a shower, bathroom, air, and the room. I would 100000% recommend this site to any woman. I also loved the back yard garden. It felt so peaceful and serene. The hosts also offered coffee in the morning which was nice. Overall, I loved this stay!

Cool New Mexico style home under renovation. The appliances work well - toilet, refrigerator, etc. But no shower (as stated in the listing). The swamp cooler was not working when we were there, but even during the summer heat it really didn’t get very hot in the house itself. We were happy with our stay!
