The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. We continue to offer camps for children and their parents and grandparents (family camps), as well as welcome adults and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge.

There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

My Hip Camp has two choices for glamping: One is an authentic gypsy wagon with a bed/couch that would fit a shorter person or two very cozy curled up people! the wagon has electric power.
Next to that wagon is a private compost toilet and an outdoor kitchen that has a camp stove, sink over 5 gallon buckets, cooler for food, and water is available for cooking, washing, and sponge baths. Someday we intend to have an outdoor shower, but not yet...
Across the little acequia (water runs through in good moisture years) is a bell tent on a platform that sleeps 4-5 people; it has two full futons and one twin mattress. Sheets and extra blankets are provided, but please bring personal sleeping bags for main bedding. All of the sides of the tent are screened in and there is a shade sail blocking strong morning sun.
The camp is on the road side of the property, but is fenced and the traffic is low on the dirt road. Walking on the roads around my neighborhood is easy and safe.
My house is in the same area of the camp on the property; I live with my adult daughter. We have a Great Pyrenees who roams around and is very friendly, I have two cats who are outdoors often and may visit in the night, and we have goats w babies in the summer, and I start milking the moms in mid July. We have turkeys on the ranchito as well. Guests are welcome to visit w the animals. The camp is named after our beloved dog Cassius, who passed this past year.
We are a mile from the village of Arroyo Seco, and minutes from good hiking trails. We are at the base of El Salto mountain and the views of Taos Mountain are stunning and different every single day I have lived here. This is a relaxing jumping off place in a semi rural neighborhood in a very popular and beautiful village, 5 miles outside of Taos, 20 minutes from Taos ski valley.

This glamp zone occupies only 1.25 acres. Part of our mission in creating this space is to bring folks together. We encourage campers to mingle. Maybe organize a group float down the Chama. The float from just above Bodes to our very own shore is wonderful. It takes about two hours. There is one challenging spot, but beside that, the float is calm and tranquil.
Please be aware, we have cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses and dogs that live on the property. Your pets are welcome only if they are guaranteed to not pester or hurt our posse of pets. Also, we will not tolerate excessive barking or inappropriate running around or bothering ourselves or other guests. You must pick up all your and your pets waste and take it with you when you leave.

With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and/or a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

A word about our wildlife is important at this point. We are a registered wildlife sanctuary and take all steps necessary to protect it. This is the desert southwest. Diamondback rattlesnakes, black widow spiders, quail, rabbits, and the rare horned lizard all call our land their habitat. Stay alert! Issues with wildlife are very rare; any concerns will immediately be handled by host.
Your Camp Host, Chef Üdø, is onsite most days and evenings, and has 30 years' experience in the catering and private chef biz, and as a camp host. He's happy to coordinate hot meals for you and your companions! No more need to go into town to get a pizza or some icky fast food! We will make you a homemade pizza, dry-aged steak, brined chicken, smoked Wagyu burger, or lasagna...all in-house. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! Contact Chef Üdø for more details and please check out our menu in the “Extras” section of our campsite listing. We can make just about anything in our sanitary kitchen facilities. We are excited to share our little A-frame cabin in the woods! The cabin is quite rustic ( and quite cute). Think of it like glamping -- outhouse, wood burning stove, dirt roads, and beautiful trees and mountains included.
** To keep the cabin affordable, all guests are responsible for cleaning up the cabin at the end of the stay and making it ready for the next guest. There are no cleaners coming in after you. **
The cabin is a 432 square foot A-frame in a small mountain community, which is surrounded by the Jemez National Forest. There are a few places to hike right from the front door, and many, many trailheads within a 20 minute drive.
Fenton Lake is a short drive away, and the San Antonio Hot Springs is a 2.5 mile hike, bike, or ski away right out the front door for the confident adventurer.
Located 1.5 hours from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, a few miles off of NM-4 between the town of Jemez Springs and the Valles Caldera National Preserve.
No outdoor fires in the fire pit are permitted at this time. As of April 10th, 2026 water is on and running, potable water is available.

Sunny Mellow Eco Villa is the land with a great history. The VERY QUIET, secret Shangra-La Valley just over the ridge from Route 66 (and I-40) was the camping place for Billy the Kid and his gang! They could quickly saddle up when the posted lookout on the ridge above signaled the passing of The Corrupt Santa Fe Cartel that bid to hold control of business throughout Lincoln County.
Even more stunning, it was the Tijeras Indian Pueblo Tribe's place of roaming and rest.
The land now sports an Organic Vineyard, Orchard and Vegetable Garden that guests my forage from when in bloom.

The land is beautiful, special & the views are beyond stunning! The accommodations are comfortable, well-equipped & curated with style & love - I stayed in the yurt & it was fabulous! The host Kate is wonderful - very communicative, quick to respond, super helpful & kind & absolutely delightful! She went out of her way to make it feel like home & I didn't want to leave! My 3 kids and I had such a lovely evening! The yurt was as cozy and welcoming as the pictures! We had everything we needed and even buckets of hot water for the outdoor shower. Kate even sent a little video to help us find the spot so it was easy to find too! Definitely recommend!!!

The tecolote 2 treehouse was lovely. We saw deer and rabbits from the windows, hummingbirds everywhere. Got a tiny little Santa Fe thunderstorm. Very sweet.

This place is exactly what I needed. Convenient, spacious, clean, simple. Do I need to say anymore.
Yes the bathroom needed some work and yes there wasn't laundry services or showers but let's be honest. You didn't pay for them. This place was an absolute steal. I loved staying here and highly recommend it.

Weekend Trip to Santa Fe Treehouse Camp & Wilderness Preserve
My daughter and I were in need of a much-needed getaway, and this was exactly what we were looking for. The owners were welcoming, friendly, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
The grounds were well-maintained, peaceful, and quiet. The other campers were also very friendly, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. One of my favorite parts of the trip was waking up early, enjoying a cup of coffee, and watching the sunrise.
We stayed in Tent 16, which was spacious and comfortable. I especially appreciated how close the restrooms and showers were to our site. This was the first campsite where I didn't hesitate to leave the tent in the middle of the night to use the restroom.
As two women traveling alone, feeling safe is very important to us, and we felt completely comfortable and secure throughout our stay. We truly enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning.

This is a great find. It is cozy and perfect for a couple, maybe two who likes camping with some conveniences. It has a nice bed on the loft with plenty of space to walk around. The bed was comfy. The first level has a complete kitchen with the essentials; a small oven, a small refrigerator, a sink for easy cleanup, pots/pans and a few other essentials. If this place had an indoor bathroom (shower and toilet) it would be ideal. It does have an outdoor outhouse. It has a deck which you can enjoy the mornings and evenings.

Deb's place is amazing! We had an absolutely fantastic time. The Tipi was so comfortable for our family of 4 and 1 dog. We flew kites, taught our 5 year old to ride his bike, took a trip around the pond in the canoe, and even caught a fish! Our dog loved all of the room to run and swim. Beautiful area and the hosts were so kind and fun to chat with. They had everything you could possibly want and need. We can't wait to head back.
