Our 22 ft "Elk" Tipi can sleep 4 with a king bed and a bunk bed, and sits on an elevated wood deck. The interior is beautifully furnished with a King sized bed, a bunk bed, bedside tables, a device charger, and a camp stove for making coffee and tea. *IMPORTANT* Be sure to fuel up before arriving, the nearest gas station is 30 miles from the property. We’re located 45 minutes away from Taos, and just 30 minutes away from the Ojo Caliente Hot Springs Resort. There’s hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and other outdoor activities galore all around us. We also have some of the darkest skies in the US, We are a perfect location for stargazing or astrophotography. We like to say we are in the middle of nowhere and the center of everything. We provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. The Elk Tipi is well-equipped with a Queen bed for two, and a bunk bed.  In the Tipi, we offer a single-burner camping stove, a kettle for heating water, a french press coffee maker and a selection of coffee and teas. We also have a cooler, and a drinking water dispenser. Outdoors, we offer a grill for outdoor cooking, a fire pit and camping chairs, a picnic table, and a ramada with a hammock for sleeping or lounging. Outside the Tipi you'll find a bath house with a composting toilet, a shower with hot water, and an outdoor sink for cleaning up. Well-behaved dogs are welcome during your stay. Please keep your pet under control, and please cleanup after your pet and put the waste in the provided trash can. The ranch is fully off-grid. We have a solar powered charging station for you to plug in your electronic devices. Cell service and WiFi are limited at the campsite. The Tipi is located on a 70 acre working ranch. Follow the signs and pull through the gate to the guest parking area near the campsite. We ask that you keep gates closed, and give the horses and livestock space. You'll have access to the full grounds, and you may fish in our private stocked pond (no license required,) or in the stream for rainbow trout (NM fishing license required.) We are absolutely loved our stay! Deb was a fantastic host and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The kids loved every minute of total freedom. They loved the canoe and fishing in the lake. The star gazing was out of this world!!! The ranch is a slice of paradise and we were so sad to leave. We are already planning our return!

What a magical, one-of-a-kind place. Staying in the tipi was an experience we’ll be talking about for a long time. It was cozy, comfortable, and surprisingly sturdy—we stayed perfectly dry through a monsoon storm! The location is absolutely beautiful, but what truly made our stay special were Deb and Gil. They are incredibly generous, welcoming hosts who invited us to a barbecue with their friends. We spent the evening swapping travel stories and enjoying wonderful conversation, and it felt less like staying at a rental and more like visiting old friends. We also had breakfast at Deb’s restaurant, Chile Line Depot, and it was fantastic—the perfect way to end our stay. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you’re looking for something whimsical, memorable, and unlike anywhere else, this is it. 10/10—we’ll absolutely be back.

Deb's place is amazing! We had an absolutely fantastic time. The Tipi was so comfortable for our family of 4 and 1 dog. We flew kites, taught our 5 year old to ride his bike, took a trip around the pond in the canoe, and even caught a fish! Our dog loved all of the room to run and swim. Beautiful area and the hosts were so kind and fun to chat with. They had everything you could possibly want and need. We can't wait to head back.

We loved our time at the ranch. The hosts were super friendly and quick to respond to any queries. Everything was exactly as described. Deb was super gracious and invited our teenage daughter to go wrangle some cows with them which she was super happy to participate in. The dog and cats were friendly and came to visit us. The tipi experience was great. We had a good view of the night sky and the Milky Way. The hosts even had a telescope for us to use. We also ate at the restaurant in town that Deb and Gil own and the food was really good. We would definitely stay there again.

Do yourself a favor and book a stay here! We only did two nights and wished we’d been able to stay longer. The property is so beautiful and Deb and Gil are great hosts. They made us feel like family! We were comfy and cozy in our tipi, even when it stormed during our first night. When the weather cleared, there was so much to do to enjoy this spot (fishing, canoeing, badminton, cornhole, etc.). The best glamping experience we’ve had and our favorite spot on our cross country road trip so far (by far)!

This place was fantastic! Some of the best hosts we’ve had. The place was beautiful and fun! The hosts were fantastic with communication and help when we needed it. They were giving and kind. They had firewood for us and drinking water. Offered ice for the cooler and chatted with us a bit. We brought our kids and the hosts were understanding that kids are loud! The place itself was a little life of heaven and a perfect getaway. Plenty of blankets and the pellet stove was so helpful for night. They even came to work on it to make sure we were warm one of the nights it wasn’t working or we couldn’t figure it out quite right. So grateful. Fantastic experience and we can’t wait to plan our next trip up.

My husband and I showed up late. However, Deborah turned on the Pilate stove for us, so the tipi was nice and warm when we arrived. The tipi is located on the ranch behind the house. Beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The stars were amazing! The mountain views were just breathtaking. We utilized the pond for fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything. But the horses put on a show for us. She had everything you could possibly need to be comfortable instead of having to go to the nearest store which was almost an hour away. Other than the spiders in the bathroom and shower it was perfect! I would definitely come back.

Great experience and very kind hosts. Debbie and Gil greeted us with a camp fire going and the pellet stove in the tipi warm. The grounds are lovely: horses, green grass, a stream and an open landscape within the Carson National Forest. Beds and blankets were comfortable and the tipi had all of the basic amenities for cooking. A bag of ice and drinkable water were provided. Great stay!

A Family Getaway Under the Stars

We had such a wonderful stay in the tipi tent! Deborah and Gil were incredibly kind and welcoming, and they made sure our family had everything we needed from the moment we arrived. The tipi itself was cozy and thoughtfully set up, and the pellet stove kept us perfectly warm during the cool mountain night. There was plenty of room for our family of four to relax comfortably and enjoy the experience together. Our 6-year-old especially loved the comfy bunk bed and spent so much time watching the horses around the ranch — she said that was one of her favorite parts of the trip! And of course, the highlight for the whole family was making s’mores around the campfire under the stars. It was such a peaceful and memorable getaway. Before heading home, we also stopped by Deb and Gil’s restaurant in Tres Piedras, the Chili Line Depot, which was such a pleasant and family-friendly experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff was wonderful with kids, and the food was delicious after a day outdoors. It was the perfect ending to an already amazing trip. We would absolutely stay here again!

If you're staying in Taos or passing through, this place is worth the stay! Deb and Gil were amazing hosts - they even let us borrow their e-bikes for a day trip to explore the area. Super dog friendly. Great lodging and amenities! Their restaurant, Chili Line Depot, is also worth a stop especially when there's live music! Would stay here again!

Where do I start? This trip was so amazing! The landscape was absolutely pristine and the yurt was everything I needed for spending quality time with teen boys and daughter. There were creeks, fishing, cornhole, bikes, horses and that was just the surface of all the things we experienced. And the stars were phenomenal to top it off. Deborah was so kind, hospitable and willing to help make our stay as wonderful as possible. On last day, we stoped at their restaurant, Chili Dept Line depot, and had amazing food and pie. This trip absolutely one of the best travel experiences I have shared with my kids. This is definitely a destination you have to experience for yourself!

Traveling cross country for 3 weeks, I have stayed at a few places and this is one of my favorites! The location is beyond beautiful. Creekside with foot bridges, tipi had everything I needed and MORE! The cows and horses were fun to watch and the hammock next to my tipi beside the creek was so relaxing. I could actually see the Milky Way. Lastly the hosts were so friendly and helpful. Bringing me extra firewood for the awesome stone fire pit I forgot to mention that has beautiful wooden rocking chairs. It’s beyond amazing and unbelievably priced.

I love this land in the Tusas Valley - the sounds of elks bugling, coyotes calling, and the Rio Tusas running nearby... Deborah is such a personable and attentive host but never intrusive. The restaurant her family owns over in Tres Piedras is a treasure too. I have stayed in both the yurt and tipis, and they are clean and fitted out with everything you need. Beautiful and Friendly
"Elk" 4-person Glamping Tipi
Such a beautiful place. The views are in incredible. We could see the Milky Way and shooting stars at night by the campfire. Listening to the creek and watching the cows and horses was so relaxing. The campsite was well provisioned and comfortable. When Deb said all you need to bring is yourselves and your food she wasn’t kidding. Wonderful, friendly hosts! The nights were cool but we were warm enough with the campstove and covers provided. After a drive one day we ordered carry out from the Chili Line Depot which was so good we stopped in again for breakfast the day we left. Chili Line had helpful friendly staff, too. We hope to visit this amazing ‘Glamp’ site again in the spring.

Really fun weekend staying at this tipi! Our super nice hosts were very friendly and the tipi was very nice. We took our bikes and road some forest roads nearby and spent time just hanging out by the creek. It was a great upgrade from car camping and we'd love to come back!

The place was stunning and the hosts were great people! We will definitely be back. Would recommend this stay to everyone. It was so nice to be able to bring our dogs with us a not have to worry about them being on leash the whole time. They had everything we need as well and the set up was great.
