The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.
And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

Set above the historic town of Madrid N.M. is Waldo Mesa, the location of past mining operations and stunning vista's.The campsite is 0.9 miles off highway 14 in the historic town of Madrid and up to the mesa. Site 1 can accommodate RV's and tall setups as well as tents. The hill going to the site is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navigate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and nice outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. Both towns are very rich in history, from past ocean existence to Native American civilizations, silver and gold mining to booming wartime coal mining industries, to ghost towns.

This glamp zone occupies only 1.25 acres. Part of our mission in creating this space is to bring folks together. We encourage campers to mingle. Maybe organize a group float down the Chama. The float from just above Bodes to our very own shore is wonderful. It takes about two hours. There is one challenging spot, but beside that, the float is calm and tranquil.
Please be aware, we have cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses and dogs that live on the property. Your pets are welcome only if they are guaranteed to not pester or hurt our posse of pets. Also, we will not tolerate excessive barking or inappropriate running around or bothering ourselves or other guests. You must pick up all your and your pets waste and take it with you when you leave.

We stayed in #7 The Pines. It was so relaxing having a spread of land for your own spot and not side by side with others. They also were so thoughtful to leave the bag of extra items that may and often do come in handy at camp along with the grill utensils. The best addition, besides the bird feeders, was their jug of water hung on the tree for handwashing. We also loved their well water. If we come back to this area we definitely will have the E<< on our list. Only drawback if staying more than a few nights is showers, but we didn’t need full showers this trip. Their property was awesome and it looks like they are in the works for new projects.

Staying at the Casa de KAMA silo was extremely peaceful. It’s an excellent place to enjoy the landscape, to watch the sunset, and to drink coffee by the birds and lizards.

The views were insanely lovely, Kim was a delight (and very responsive when I had questions), and although I had intended to spend the day in Santa Fe after spending the night here, I ended up spending the whole day poking around in Madrid. Fabulously quirky, artsy vibes all around!!

We loved our trip to Elk Ridge! Site was level and all hook ups worked great. Susan and Dale were awesome hosts! They were super friendly and very informative about what they do and how they do it. They let us bottle feed the new bison (not buffalo) babies, hand feed their elk cows and bulls, and even took my son out on the backhoe to dig some holes! The pond was very refreshing and the whole family had a blast swimming in it, even our dogs! Dale's business model of offering to cook us bison steaks for dinner totally worked as we left with steaks and jerky. We would totally go back again!

We had a great time at ECC site 3. The weather was nice and cool and the views were great. We really enjoyed the lighting at night that is displayed throughout the campgrounds. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

We spent two nights at site #8 and LOVED IT! "The cliffs" was a perfect spot for tent camping. The layout is great with enough room to have separated eating, firepit, and tent areas. The pond was surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The accommodations were perfect!

Enchanted Circle is a great dry camping option in Angel Fire.
We did 3 nights in a 26 foot Class C in sites 3 and 5. The setting was fantastic with lots of wildlife. Landon and Kendra have put some great added touches to the sites. You can’t do dry camping any better than this.
Another cool aspect of camping here is it is a working ranch so you see the animals as they are raised ethically. We even bought some ground pork from the hogs raised onsite!!
$75 is a little steep for dry camping but given the amazing sites and property we would gladly pay it again!

This is a terrific campground. We camped at site number five for two nightslast week and really enjoyed it. We also stayed at site number eight a year ago. The campground strengths are its privacy and security. It is quiet and very beautiful. If we did not love it, we would never have returned. Because the ranch is so large, it is rare to see anyone else. We did see deer and some of the horses wandered past our camp. My wife and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a beautiful place that is private and secure.
