The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country.
We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet.
For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source.
The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch.
We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion.
We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others.
I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible.
We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can.
And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

With all the improvements made by his father and family through the years, you will also learn to have a love for the history and beauty here on this unique 30-acre treasure.
You can explore Native American ruins that were inhabited by some 2,000 people between 700-1100 AD. The grounds are wonderful to walk with a little lake which draws elk, deer, hawks, blue herons, etc.
Easy to access just 3 minutes off I-25. We are 5 minutes away from the Pecos Natl Monument and 15 minutes away from the Pecos River with plenty of great fishing spots ;Visit Santa Fe (20-minute drive) or Las Vegas (30-minute drive) with dozens of restaurants, museums, art galleries, etc.

Because we are a hidden gem and still growing, there is a high chance that you will have the horizon to yourself. We are a work in progress with a mission: turning one man’s trash into campground treasures. Our 15 acres butts up against some BLM land offering more terrain to explore in the buff. When you’re done exploring, cool off with a skinny dip in our 16’ x 32’ above ground pool. Or just lounge in the sun and work on your tan.

You can go on a panoramic ridge hike right off the property, or just relax by the flowing creek, or listen to the bird symphonies. Some campsites have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house, others have private outhouses.

The land is beautifully wild with lots of animal life. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. If you're pulling your trailer/camper you'll need 4W.
With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and/or a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

Set above the historic town of Madrid N.M. is Waldo Mesa, the location of past mining operations and stunning vista's.The campsite is 0.9 miles off highway 14 in the historic town of Madrid and up to the mesa. Site 1 can accommodate RV's and tall setups as well as tents. The hill going to the site is short, approx. 0.2 ml. Its dirt and rock and a little steep but everything from bikes, motorcycles, sedans and buses can easily navigate without bottoming out, just take it slow. It has beautiful mesa views with plenty of privacy and nice outhouse within 50 yards. Madrid and sister village, Cerrillos are loaded with places to explore on foot or by other means. Both towns are very rich in history, from past ocean existence to Native American civilizations, silver and gold mining to booming wartime coal mining industries, to ghost towns.

This glamp zone occupies only 1.25 acres. Part of our mission in creating this space is to bring folks together. We encourage campers to mingle. Maybe organize a group float down the Chama. The float from just above Bodes to our very own shore is wonderful. It takes about two hours. There is one challenging spot, but beside that, the float is calm and tranquil.
Please be aware, we have cats, chickens, goats, donkeys, horses and dogs that live on the property. Your pets are welcome only if they are guaranteed to not pester or hurt our posse of pets. Also, we will not tolerate excessive barking or inappropriate running around or bothering ourselves or other guests. You must pick up all your and your pets waste and take it with you when you leave.

The John Dunn Recreation Area is also less than 15 minutes drive from the campsites.
Despite accessibility to endless activities just minutes away there remains a sense of solitude, space and privacy that one would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.
Cerro Chiflo, Cerro Montoso and the Miner's Trail are within driving/hiking distance. Spend a day down on the banks of Rio Grande and unwind around the campfire and while stars light up the dark skies.

It was such a dream staying at Jayme and Doug’s property. Being so close to everything, yet giving you the privacy and seclusion in the mountains.
They did a great job providing everything you need and more, while being very communicative and being there to help.

Convenient to town, but quiet and peaceful spot along a country road. For campers, the bath house is definitely a plus! Anastasia is a welcoming hostess who respects the land and visitors' privacy. The property exudes a calming, relaxing air. We won't stay anywhere else when visiting Taos!

Great experience and very kind hosts. Debbie and Gil greeted us with a camp fire going and the pellet stove in the tipi warm. The grounds are lovely: horses, green grass, a stream and an open landscape within the Carson National Forest. Beds and blankets were comfortable and the tipi had all of the basic amenities for cooking. A bag of ice and drinkable water were provided. Great stay!

This forested camp ground/farm is always a favorite! We stayed here for our second time this summer. If you are tent camping site 1 and 2 are on the flat open land and seem to he very windy in the afternoons, so RV or camper camping would be more comfortable. The other sites are higher up in forested land with much of the wind blocked.
There is plenty for kids to do, it is peaceful for relaxation, and easy to camp on with their delicious well water and clean portable toilets.
I would recommend this camp ground for all ages!

Me & my friends had the best time! It was my first time camping and was a little worried about safety but Kim was super duper helpful. We arrived after dark and Kim guided us on getting to the site safely since we couldnt see much. I would suggest a 4x4 because the way up is pretty rocky, but the view was incredible!

Absolutely perfect! Such a wonderful place, and a gorgeous view! There were some great options for camping, and the hosts were so kind and accommodating. The facilities were clean and charming, and so fun to see the animals! Would come back in a heartbeat!

We had such a wonderful stay in the tipi tent! Deborah and Gil were incredibly kind and welcoming, and they made sure our family had everything we needed from the moment we arrived. The tipi itself was cozy and thoughtfully set up, and the pellet stove kept us perfectly warm during the cool mountain night. There was plenty of room for our family of four to relax comfortably and enjoy the experience together.
Our 6-year-old especially loved the comfy bunk bed and spent so much time watching the horses around the ranch — she said that was one of her favorite parts of the trip! And of course, the highlight for the whole family was making s’mores around the campfire under the stars. It was such a peaceful and memorable getaway.
Before heading home, we also stopped by Deb and Gil’s restaurant in Tres Piedras, the Chili Line Depot, which was such a pleasant and family-friendly experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff was wonderful with kids, and the food was delicious after a day outdoors. It was the perfect ending to an already amazing trip. We would absolutely stay here again!

If you're staying in Taos or passing through, this place is worth the stay! Deb and Gil were amazing hosts - they even let us borrow their e-bikes for a day trip to explore the area. Super dog friendly. Great lodging and amenities! Their restaurant, Chili Line Depot, is also worth a stop especially when there's live music! Would stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Creekside Glamping Tipis on Off-Grid, 70 Acre Working Ranch
My husband and I showed up late. However, Deborah turned on the Pilate stove for us, so the tipi was nice and warm when we arrived. The tipi is located on the ranch behind the house. Beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The stars were amazing! The mountain views were just breathtaking. We utilized the pond for fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything. But the horses put on a show for us. She had everything you could possibly need to be comfortable instead of having to go to the nearest store which was almost an hour away. Other than the spiders in the bathroom and shower it was perfect! I would definitely come back.
