The hosts were so patient with me while my GPS went wonky. It was late at night but they kept in touch with me until we made it there safely. They came to introduce themselves and made sure we were good. My dogs loved walking/exploring the property and Ivy offered us the shaded area which really helped us cool down. If we pass through the area again, we'd definitely stay again. If you come in the summer, you will need to bring shade.

Our group tent camped at Darkmoon and really enjoyed ourselves. The desert is peaceful, stars and sunsets are spectacular. Roan and Sara were glad to show us how their tiny houses and domes were built and gave us a tour. We ended up playing campfire games with Roan and Sara all evening. So fun! This stop was at the end of a 4-day New Mexico trip and several in our group said it was their favorite part, mostly because of how fun the hosts were.
Tips:
Don't let the thought of composting toilets scare you. These were clean and well-maintained.
Bring a track identification book. The animal tracking here was fascinating.
Bring a table if you are tent camping. The tent sites don't have tables.
There is a hidden flamingo on the property. See if you can find it!

You’ll never sleep better; but if you do stir at night, you’ll be greeted by every constellation in the cosmos! Arrive early enough to relax and take in the beauty of the expanse. Oh, and bring some stories and snacks to share with Roan and Ivy as the sun sets!

The land is well loved. You could feel it. Directions to get there were clear, and the quiet desert was exactly what we needed after a long day of driving. Wish we could have stayed longer. Loved hearing coyotes in the morning.

An amazing spot to spend an evening! Gorgeous views all around woth so much character. Would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in the area. Roan and Ivy were great communicators and great to meet as well. Our little dog loved exploring the area and was fascinated by the occasional cow bones she would find.

Remote. Silence. Beautiful & endless sky. Amazing sunset. Very friendly hosts. Fun to hang out. Campfire. Rising full moon. Remote. Wind and then… Silence. Peace.

Roan’s Casa Huevo was super cute!! It stayed pretty warm in there too, despite it being 30s in there at night. We had a great chat with him. He’s such a nice guy and we’ll definitely be back if we’re back in the area! Thank you Roan!

Nice place for a rustic get away.
If you want to experience living on the land with natural and inventive amenities you'll like this place. The land is beautiful if you appreciate desert with shrubs. We loved it. Roan is a friendly and interesting host. Lots of stars at night to!

We got to experience Casa Huevo
on a night we were the only visitors to Roan's beautiful land. It was lovely and quiet. The Casa was extremely comfortable and a fun adventure. Roan is a friendly, informative and interesting host. For something fun and different, we highly recommend.

Casa Huevo was a lovely spot! It is quiet and remote, with beautiful views of the mountains and the NM sunsets. There are thoughtful little touches. As others mentioned, having a lock on the door is appreciated for added feelings of security, particularly for solo female travelers. Roan is also a kind, welcoming host.

This place is special. Roan has set up an excellent camp and the huevo is very cozy, there are even books to read at your leisure. I had a great night's sleep and appreciated being able to lock the door of the dome for extra security. Felt very safe and welcome.

you've got to stay here!!! so peaceful with not much around at all. AMAZING and such kind and friendly hosts! I wish we had more time to hang and rest here and I wish we lived closer as I would be back here more so I could stay here haha. I even feel inspired to buy land and get some of these built lol. Definitely recommend!

Wow!! What amazing and a wonderful memory the Chef created for my little ones and my wife and I. It’s a memory that they will never forget. And the awesome food. Casa Huevo
I had such a good experience staying in Casa Huevo with Roan! The dome is so cozy and comfortable, the land is gorgeous, and the sunset and sunrise were incredible. Roan was a welcoming host and kind to my senior dogs, and it was great to hear about how these domes were made. The dome has a locking door, which as a solo female traveler made me feel very safe. I hope to come back someday, great experience!
