Riddle Hill Homestead is a family-run property on 24 acres in Grafton, New Hampshire, bordered by the Smith River and Manfeltree Brook. Our campsites are tucked into the woods, along field edges, and in the meadow, with a mix of open skies, tree cover, brook sounds, and quiet places to sit by the fire.
We are a working homestead, not a traditional campground, but we try to make off-grid camping comfortable and welcoming. Campers have access to a community picnic and BBQ area, non-potable water, an off-grid shower area, and a real port-a-potty near the movie and community area. We also provide one gallon of drinking water when you arrive.
Most individual sites include a portable camp toilet inside a small pop-up privacy tent. The Meadow sites do not, so please check the individual site description before booking.
Most sites also have their own fire pit. The Meadow sites and Overnight Adventurer use community fire pits instead. Your first bundle of firewood is included, and additional bundles are available for $5.
Our roadside Cookie Shop carries fresh-baked cookies, cold drinks, novelty ice creams, local products, eggs from our hens, snacks, and a small honor-system selection of camping basics and forgotten essentials when available. In October 2025, the shop was featured as the first stop on NH Chronicle’s Cookie Crawl.
During normal rainfall, the brook is a nice place to wade and explore, though water levels depend on the season and weather.
Nature provides most of the background noise. You may hear hens announcing a freshly laid egg, Mister the rooster crowing, peepers, frogs, birds, crickets, the brook, or an occasional owl. We also have dark skies and quiet country evenings.
The town beach and Northern Rail Trail are a short walk away. Hiking, lakes, mountain views, Ruggles Mine, and Haunting Whisper Vineyard & Spirits are also nearby.
Please remember that Riddle Hill Homestead is a working rural property. Wildlife, farm animals, uneven ground, tall grass, changing weather, bugs, and country sounds are all part of the experience.

Bordering Rollins State Park and Kearsarge Mtn. State Forest, that encompasses 3,893 acres that covers most of Mt. Kearsarge. My campsite is located at the historic property settled by the Watkins family in the early 1790's.
Abner Watkins was a founding father of Warner and a soldier in the Revolutionary War serving under Ebenezer Webster, father of Daniel. With other men from Warner and surrounding communities, they fought in the Battles of Bennington and Saratoga and came back victorious. Abner with his wife Ruth and family retired up here on the mountain and are buried at the small cemetery down the road.
Enjoy this peaceful spot surrounded by beautiful oak, maple, birch, pine, hemlock and ash trees.
Abundant wildlife lives on the mountain including deer, moose, bear, bobcat and turkeys.
Plenty of shade with a new outhouse, fresh water, fire pit and a picnic table.
Plenty of free firewood to gather from around the site.
Right next door is the Rollins State Park toll gate to drive up Mt. Kearsarge and also access to miles of hiking trails.

We are at the top of Raccoon Hill. Overlooking a valley with Punch Brook at the bottom. You can see Belknap Mountain across the way. There are many trails nearby. The state snowmobile trails run nearby with access at the power lines that cross Raccoon Hill, Great for hiking, biking in the summer. And snowmobiling in the winter. State rail trail is nearby also (bottom of Raccoon Hill and rt 11) Giving access to the entire state! Highland Lake is a few miles away. Webster Lake is a bit further down the road. Fishing ponds are all over the area. Ragged mountain is 20 minutes from here. The mountain biking park in Northfield is about 20 minutes away. Black Bear Vineyard is a few miles away. Hello, welcome to Know Town located amidst the close knit hills of central Vermont and nestled in the heart of the Stony Brook watershed in the town of Stockbridge. We have just over 40 acres of diverse natural beauty to explore and bask in, which includes a beautiful stretch of the brook with multiple dunking spots, as well as a larger swimming hole. Currently, we offer three options for your overnight stays, as we just added The Swimming Hole site. This new site is very special and is sure to be a place that you will want to return to. Our Geodesic dome is the epitome of glamping with the comforts of home, but still integrated into the natural surroundings. Located right on the brook with a private fire pit and outdoor dining set up. There is plenty of room for games in the large field and a separate camp spot overlooking a little water fall and one of our swimming holes.
For those who enjoy car camping we have the Apple tree camp site. Located right on the brook with a big rock for sunbathing and a spacious area for tents and rooftop car campers. There are a couple of apple trees to relax in the shade under and a large picnic table and fire pit.
Know Town welcomes well mannered dogs (2 per site). We are 420 friendly and geared towards hosting those interested in arts, music, meditation, and ecology. There is virtually no light pollution which makes for optimal stargazing.
Also, it should be noted that there is currently no Wi-Fi or cell service. Please be aware that Vermont prohibits out-of-state Firewood. We sell firewood for dome and campfires, and guests are welcome to scavenge the plethora of downed dead wood on the property.

Come sit by the water with a fire going, watching the sunset go down in front of you after a day of kayaking, fishing and hiking. Beautiful spot right on the water includes kayaks, (life jackets available upon request by size) firewood and chairs. Plenty of room for multiple tents and tent sites are welcome to spread out down trails off both sides of the flat spot. Riddle Hill Homestead is a family-run property on 24 acres in Grafton, New Hampshire, bordered by the Smith River and Manfeltree Brook. Our campsites are tucked into the woods, along field edges, and in the meadow, with a mix of open skies, tree cover, brook sounds, and quiet places to sit by the fire.
We are a working homestead, not a traditional campground, but we try to make off-grid camping comfortable and welcoming. Campers have access to a community picnic and BBQ area, non-potable water, an off-grid shower area, and a real port-a-potty near the movie and community area. We also provide one gallon of drinking water when you arrive.
Most individual sites include a portable camp toilet inside a small pop-up privacy tent. The Meadow sites do not, so please check the individual site description before booking.
Most sites also have their own fire pit. The Meadow sites and Overnight Adventurer use community fire pits instead. Your first bundle of firewood is included, and additional bundles are available for $5.
Our roadside Cookie Shop carries fresh-baked cookies, cold drinks, novelty ice creams, local products, eggs from our hens, snacks, and a small honor-system selection of camping basics and forgotten essentials when available. In October 2025, the shop was featured as the first stop on NH Chronicle’s Cookie Crawl.
During normal rainfall, the brook is a nice place to wade and explore, though water levels depend on the season and weather.
Nature provides most of the background noise. You may hear hens announcing a freshly laid egg, Mister the rooster crowing, peepers, frogs, birds, crickets, the brook, or an occasional owl. We also have dark skies and quiet country evenings.
The town beach and Northern Rail Trail are a short walk away. Hiking, lakes, mountain views, Ruggles Mine, and Haunting Whisper Vineyard & Spirits are also nearby.
Please remember that Riddle Hill Homestead is a working rural property. Wildlife, farm animals, uneven ground, tall grass, changing weather, bugs, and country sounds are all part of the experience.

Beautiful, peaceful, private location on Mt. Kearsarge in Warner, NH.
Including the new dog-friendly fenced campsite for off-leash camping with your 4 legged pals.
Vehicles can easily enter private driveway, room for camper van and class B but not large RV.
Bordering Rollins State Park and Kearsarge Mtn. State Forest, that encompasses 3,893 acres that covers most of Mt. Kearsarge. My campsite is located at the historic property settled by the Watkins family in the early 1790's.
Abner Watkins was a founding father of Warner and a soldier in the Revolutionary War serving under Ebenezer Webster, father of Daniel. With other men from Warner and surrounding communities, they fought in the Battles of Bennington and Saratoga and came back victorious. Abner with his wife Ruth and family retired up here on the mountain and are buried at the small cemetery down the road.
Enjoy this peaceful spot surrounded by beautiful oak, maple, birch, pine, hemlock and ash trees.
Abundant wildlife lives on the mountain including deer, moose, bear, bobcat and turkeys.
Plenty of shade with a new outhouse, fresh water, fire pit and a picnic table.
Plenty of free firewood to gather from around the site.
Right next door is the Rollins State Park toll gate to drive up Mt. Kearsarge and also access to miles of hiking trails.

We are at the top of Raccoon Hill. Overlooking a valley with Punch Brook at the bottom. You can see Belknap Mountain across the way. There are many trails nearby. The state snowmobile trails run nearby with access at the power lines that cross Raccoon Hill, Great for hiking, biking in the summer. And snowmobiling in the winter. State rail trail is nearby also (bottom of Raccoon Hill and rt 11) Giving access to the entire state! Highland Lake is a few miles away. Webster Lake is a bit further down the road. Fishing ponds are all over the area. Ragged mountain is 20 minutes from here. The mountain biking park in Northfield is about 20 minutes away. Black Bear Vineyard is a few miles away. Enjoy our 73 acres in peace. Our site has a well you can use to fill up your tanks, we recommend using an in-line filter as the water is not tested. We recommend using it for showers and toilets. 2 50amp hook ups. And septic hook ups.

We loved staying at this site. The tent was very cosy and warm (in late September). The site is private and you can wander into the woods. Shannah was extremely welcoming. She introduced her family and her animals to us. This campsite is perfect for families with kids. Our niece and nephew (4, 6 yo) really enjoyed the experience!

Really great site for those camping with pups!! There is one other site on Ed’s property so you share the outhouse, but the sites have tree cover for privacy and unless the other campers are loud you won’t really hear them. The fenced site has a great amount of space for the dogs to run and play, and is fully contained with wire fencing so you don’t have to worry about keeping them on a leash… unless your dog is an escape artist :) Really great size fire pit, and we were excited that the site comes with a picnic table too. Ed was very welcoming, and there are lots of nice touches for the pups throughout the site — highly recommend!!

What a beautiful campsite! Yes, it is close to a road, but the trees and vegetation are more than enough to make this an extremely private site. The camper was clean and well supplied! I have never been to a campsite where so much was taken care of! Bedding was included in the very reasonable cost along with use of kayaks, canoe, and rowboat (with provided lifejackets!). Plus all the firewood you could ever want! On top of all that, Matt provided basic food stuffs and a fridge full of drinks!
This was our first HipCamp and our first trailer camping experience. Wow!
The only issue we had was our own making in that though the trailer had full power, the water was limited. We had to learn conservation which actually is a good thing to learn! However, the toilet in the camper was an issue for the 5 of us. No problem as Matt came by halfway through our stay to empty the grey & black water tanks and to refill the portable water for us.

Their 24 acre property is sunny, spacious and has a babbling brook that meanders through embankments covered in wild flowers. Come here to relax, reconnect and rejuvenate. The site is beautiful and remote! The walk to the campsite is about 8-10 minutes (and I was carrying a lot of gear and my 3 kids under the age of 8 were walking). It wasn’t a bad walk, definitely not doable with a wagon. The wheelbarrow provided would also be hard to use. We ended up only staying one night as we forgot the rain cover to our tent and there was rain in the forecast for the second day, but the kids had a great time! The stream isn’t directly at the campsite, it’s near another close campsite. The site is also large enough that it fit our huge 12 person tent just fine! I only wish there was maybe a grate for over the fire or a small table for food, but we made it all work!

The location of this site along a brook is fantastic! The turn around design makes it easy to situate a camper easily. The site is well shaded - which may be an issue if you rely on solar to recharge a solar generator like we do. We had to get creative and set up our solar charging along the access road. The composting toilet was great. There’s some slight road noise but it’s not intrusive. We absolutely plan on returning to this site!
