Sacred Nectar rests on the land of the Wabanaki Tribes. This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's most treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an ecofriendly, Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. Recharge by a cozy campfire under the stars. You should be looking forward to experiencing a digital detox during your stay. Experiences such as hiking, birding, snowshoeing and biking at various levels surrounds your campsite – pick quiet country roads or challenging mountain trails. Telmark or cross country skiing, sledding and snowmobiling opportunities makes Nature In-tents a year round getaway. A mountain creek is a few steps away providing a tranquil, private spot for “rewilding” your soul. The clear cut boosts plenty of blackberry bushes for picking during late August/September. Wise Pines is a holistic and sustainable Bed and Breakfast/Hiker Hostel with a unique farm stay experience. It sits on 40 acres of land with wooded trails and a pond to sit by. We have a veggie garden, fruit trees, chickens, and goats. *electric fencing is LIVE!* We utilize solar energy and have energy efficient rated buildings. Goats are natural escape artists and love to explore the property to eat trees and more grass. You may see them running around or taking an afternoon nap on the hill, outside of their fenced in area. The owners of the property, Chelsey and Jon live with with their two young kids and dogs on the premises. The dogs are unleashed and friendly (though they will come running and barking loudly to say hi)! We have a yoga studio and offer classes upon request and Reiki sessions by appointment. BREAKFAST is available at 9:00am Thursday-Sunday (October-May) and daily June-September at 8:00am. Breakfast items rotate with the seasons, and change daily. Much of our food is sourced from our own garden and hens or other local sources. You can expect, and are not limited to an offering of: frittatas, breakfast tacos, quiches, quinoa breakfast bowls, root veggie hash, fresh fruit, sausages, smoothie bowls, pancakes, baked goods and more! All food is prepared by our Chef, Alex. Each day we have one offering, but can easily accommodate dietary restrictions. "At Your Leisure" or To-Go breakfast options may be available as well! We have many games for you to use, a bluetooth movie projector, walking trails (sometimes needing a bit of maintenance), a fire pit and grill. The property is in the woods rustic woods of Vermont, amongst all of its seasons. Please note that we do our best to maintain the property as weather arises, but the walkways, some of which are a bit steep, may be snowy, icy or otherwise. Please come prepared with a vehicle and shoes that are suited for the season of your arrival (mud, snow and ice) for both our property and the town road we live on. Checking in during daylight hours is advised. Nearby, the town of Woodstock in only minutes away with cute shops and restaurants. There are many local hikes, national and state parks, the Quechee Gorge, white water rapids, The VAST (snowmobile trails), ski resorts and array of local events to attend.

It overlooks the village of Chelsea, the shire town of Orange County. Free Verse Farm is a hilltop herb farm run by two art-making, herb-loving farmers. The property boasts twenty sloping, knoll-laden, open acres overlooking the First Branch of the White River as it passes through the scenic village of Chelsea, Vermont. We have incredible views, forest trails that offer magical woodland wanderings, and spacious campsites in our fields. We also invite you to explore our cultivated fields of herbs and vegetables and become acquainted with the wide variety of tea, culinary, and medicinal herbs that we grow and process on our farm. You can also visit with the cows that spend their summer munching our delicious green pastures. Our full line of herbs and herbal products are for sale via our website or at Free Verse Farm Shop, located just one mile from our farm in downtown Chelsea. Our Farm Shop offers a wide variety of fresh produce, provisions, fresh baked goods, alcoholic (& non-) beverages, and more to enjoy during your stay or as you continue on your journey. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: We also run Free Verse Farm Shop (OPEN: Tuesday-Friday 11am-6pm, Saturday 9am-3pm), a local grocery, café, and apothecary to serve our community and visitors to the area, while supporting local farms and artisans. The village of Chelsea hosts a weekly summer farmers market May-September on Fridays from 3-6pm (mid-May through September). In downtown Chelsea there is also a pub (The Wagon Wheel), gas station (110 Quickstop), two town commons, a small library, and a general store (Will's Store), and a farm stand (Chicken Wiggle Farm). Within 20-45 minutes of our farm you can reach the larger towns of Montpelier (state capital), South Royalton, Randolph, Woodstock, White River Junction, and the Upper Valley Region (Dartmouth College), all of which offer a wide variety of attractions and services. Hopkins Center, AVA Gallery, the Lebanon Opera House, Northern Stage, and a wide array of restaurants are within 20 minutes. Despite the proximity to town and even to my home, the simple studio space is serene in its sumac baby forest. The space is one of a kind, with a giant salvaged chapel window, cathedral ceilings, a candelabra, a clawfoot tub, a quirky outhouse, on-demand hot water, electricity and wifi.

The breakfast bar is constructed with live edge hemlock from Williams hill and topped with a slab of native granite, Open concept kitchen/living room. Fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, (outdoor enclosed shower.) BBQ gas grill.*** Non potable hot and cold water. Guests need to bring their drinking water. TV and DVD. Large lending library available by owner. Second floor bedroom with 1 queen and 1 double bed with privacy knee wall. Double futon on first. Screened in porch with dining, surrounded by nature. Separate screened in platform for a third dining option. Attached fully enclosed outdoor shower with hot water. Access to your own large dock with 2 kayaks. Swim, paddle, hike and wildlife viewing from the privacy of your own cabin. Steep drop offs and uneven terrain, make this ONLY appropriate for children over 4 yrs old and Seniors please take caution, 50 steps to water. Reliable cell service and wifi using your data with some carriers. Owners are nearby and have a landline for emergency calls. Broadband may be available 2024. Fabulous, serene retreat for writers, artists, fishermen or ladies w/e! Exercise class, yoga and guided kayak and Mine tours (off site) available for added fees. Walk the many brooks, small streams and 10-foot waterfall. All accessible from the pond. Due to COVID guidelines, guests need to supply their own linens, pillowcases and bath towels.
