There is a second set of falls if you hike down the river. A most magical spot for sure. Virginia lake is in the White Mountain National forest and is only 6 miles (n a ten minute drive away) Sometimes you have to hike in a bit to get to the beach. Shallow beach is great for children and dogs. Keewayden Lake Dam is a fun place to swim in a local lake. It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others. My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable. There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes. The kitchenette has a small fridge a toaster oven a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils plates and bowls and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside. There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping (glorified camping) adventure. I provide fire some wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $5 per bundle. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is seasonal running water (May through October) for the outdoor sink which is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. Also an outdoor shower is available for use May through October and biodegradable soaps and shampoo are provided. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.

Weekend Trip to The Land Kindred

We had an amazing girls trip night in the yurt! Nicole was so helpful and responsive and the property was stunning. We met 2 of their super friendly dogs, one of whom accompanied us on a walk down to the brook! The yurt was incredibly cozy and we were lucky enough to get to see the first snow that night. We look forward to returning to the yurt again sometime!

Weekend Trip to Unplugged, No electricity, no wifi.

The cabin was adorable. I enjoyed my weekend “unplugged.” There are solar lights which work perfect when the sun goes down. The cabin contained everything needed for cooking. There were several options for additional lights if needed - including lanterns to take to the outhouse. I enjoyed a quiet and relaxing weekend!

4 nights at Waterfalls Wild And Free

My husband, myself, and our two dogs had a blast during our stay! We didn’t even go anywhere because we were having such a great time just exploring the property/nearby trails. It was a little cold at night but the heat in the RV kept us toasty and we had an endless supply of firewood for the days! We used the kitchen to cook our meals and there seriously was everything and more that we could’ve needed. Our dogs especially enjoyed the waterfall - there were quite a few people on the trail the first day we walked there but significantly less the second day. Highly recommend staying here! There was lots of privacy and nature, a little cell service for texts but not streaming which for us was exactly what we wanted. A truly fantastic getaway for a few days.

My friend and I had a great stay at Jacqueline’s! The farm was beautiful and the campsite itself was peaceful and secluded. Although it felt tucked away, we weren’t far from some smaller towns and enjoyed plenty of biking and hiking nearby. Definitely enjoyed the convenience of not having to set up a tent etc. upon arrival, and appreciated their gesture of sharing a bit of firewood and a full cooler of water to allow us to settle in easily as we arrived fairly late. 1 night at Ryegate Away Cabins

I had a great stay at Ryegate. The cabin was warm and homey, a nice break from camping when the rain and cold arrived. Jessica was welcoming, communicative and responsive. She provided good information about the stay and was kind enough to let me use the shower in the farmhouse, which was much appreciated. The cabin really has all you need... shelter, a cozy bed, a microwave, fridge, and coffee station. Sitting on the front porch with coffee overlooking the river and the mountain tree line is a wonderful way to spend a peaceful morning! The cabin is decorated very cute, which is a nice bonus. Note: You need to be up for a bit of outdoor life ... like using an outhouse and washing dishes in a sink outside. It isn't primitive but it is glamping.
