3 nights at Rustic Haven Retreat on 80 acres

We loved camping on Adam's "little slice of heaven"! The views are amazing and the area is quiet. We realized at the last minute that we need power for our teardrop camper and Adam responded immediately. The area is close to many lakes and we visited a few. We loved swimming at Half Moon Lake. We also loved our walks to and from Union Cemetery - just up the road. On our last night of camping we were gifted with a rainbow and a family of swans on the pond. This was a lovely, peaceful spot! We had a great night in the cabin, and we had everything we needed. Peter was responsive and welcoming, but gave us space as well.

Weekend Trip to Rustic Haven Retreat on 80 acres

We enjoyed a quiet and peaceful weekend. The view of the barn and pond were lovely. There were swans on the pond and Sandhill Cranes and deer that came around every day. We parked our 30ft camper up near the house where the power was, nobody was around all weekend. If you wanted to feel more secluded you could set up down at the far end of the barn (without power hookup). Nice fire ring and the wood was right there too.

The location is on a quiet gravel road with nice views of a pond and rolling hills with woods in the distance. The firepit was nice with a pile of wood right by it.

Don’t let the smaller size of this Hipcamp fool you, this spot is awesome! We stayed right on the edge of the river, and the soothing sound of the flowing water made for the perfect backdrop all weekend long. It was incredibly quiet and serene; even though there are a couple of cabins nearby, we hardly knew they were there. It truly felt like we had our own little slice of nature to ourselves. The site was clean, easy to access, and offered just the right mix of comfort and wild. Whether you're looking to relax, fish, paddle, or just listen to the river with a cup of coffee in hand, this place delivers. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a peaceful escape. We’ll absolutely be back!

This was the perfect place to stay for the night. Such a cute little cabin and had everything I needed. Went for a walk in the nature trails after dinner and was so serene and quiet. Wild definitely stay here again.

We biked in to Jubilee Homestead and were met not just by Rick, who warmly welcomed us and helped us settle in but also by a flock of chickens, herd of goats, and a bold cat. They all made us very welcome! We had a great time, I'll be coming back.

Great place to camp right on the river. It rained a lot during our stay and our host, Rick, was very thoughtful to make sure we had dry firewood, a safe walkway to our site and also gave us great recommendations of where to visit in the area. The tent sites are a little uneven but that is to be expected in an area susceptible to flooding and wouldn’t stop me from visiting this hidden gem again, just something to be aware of. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to O'Dalaigh Hideaway

This is an amazing spot to camp! I went camping with my 2 younger boys, they had a blast!! The swimming was a nice way to cool off. We did some fishing and caught bass. The firepit is set up right on the river. It was perfect. The host was great. You do have to walk your stuff to the site, but the wagon makes it easy enough. I would highly recommend camping here!

Beautiful farm near the Twin Cities with a great auto site. We needed to try our RTT before a trip out west and decided this was a perfect spot to give it a try. Only about a mile from the Gateway trail and a speedy 25 mile RT bike ride to downtown Stillwater for breakfast on a patio. Really a great option if you are looking to avoid crowds and noise at a public campground.

Meander a walking trail system through 30 acres of woods and prairie. In 2019, all 10 acres of fields were planted as dedicated Monarch/pollinator habitat. This is a full sensory experience - flowered meadow and spectacular celestial nights with serenading hoot owls, frogs, crickets and yips of coyotes in the distance. Our chickens do their daily forage through the yard and woods. This is a birder's delight turkey and deer being very common sightings. Our unique greenhouse and pergola are common use areas for all guests to enjoy. The pergola is a large cushioned area providing shade to read a book, charge a device, play cards, enjoy a beverage, eat a meal. Explore the greenhouse production of tomatoes, peppers, and ginger growing along with flowers and other hothouse varieties. Fill water containers, or use the large stainless steel sink (hot/cold water) and countertops to prep meals or wash up. You will also find a beverage service counter, yard games for use, and any on-farm items for sale in this area- firewood, plants, eggs and produce. Tucked discreetly behind the greenhouse is 1 of 2 drop-offs for garbage and recycling, and also 1 of 2 ultra clean port-a-potties found on property. *** We're family friendly! Adult occupancy is applied to 13 years and older. There is no occupancy charge/limit for children 12 years of age or under. *** We have 6 sites to offer. Providing a historical backdrop is a fully restored Norwegian cabin built in 1894 (completed July 2022). Adjacent to the greenhouse is 2 RV (or tent) sites with full water and 30 amp hookups (Meadow Camp East and West). 2 additional sites accommodate RVs or tents. (Hill Camp and Sumac Camp). One of which is a very large area that is ideal for groups (Sumac Camp). Lastly, we have 1 walk-in tent site, the most private (Pine Camp), a short distance into the woods behind the greenhouse. Don't let our sleepy little town deceive you. The locals have huge hearts - are generous creatives, with ingenious businesses that spill over with hospitality. Uber local is 2 Amish businesses within a 15 minute walk - a bakery and a woodworking shop. We're happy to direct you to other local highlights: on-farm meat sales, herbal apothecary, goat milk products, home goods, local microbreweries and quilt shops to name a few. O'Dalaigh Hideaway

Note: Address is NOT 31128 Riverside Drive, Pine City as shown on Hipcamp. It is located right next to 31128 River Bend Drive, Pine City. Hipcamp will not allow me to put correct address there. The property is on a vacant lot next to our cabin lot on the Snake River East of Pine City MN. This lot has the better river view and experience as its a small peninsula that juts out to the river with rapids. There is a swimming area right next to the campsite or feel free to jump into the rapids if you want a rush. River is not deep most of the year and there is fishing right there as well, mostly large and small mouth bass. There is parking off the road and a short walk to the campsite, just follow the sounds of the river. A small wagon is provided to help with getting gear down to the river tent site. New this year (2025) is a composting toilet along the trail to the tent site. It uses a "separator" where #1 goes back to the earth (as it is sterile and liquid) and #2 goes into a bucket and is covered with wood chips. There is also a standing urinal for men if desired. If you would prefer to use a pit toilet there is one on the property with directions marked with a sign. It is a farther walk however, about 100 yards from the tent site and on the cabin property near the driveway. If you want something even more convenient, feel free to bring your own. Firewood is available for sale onsite or feel free to clean up dead wood lying along the trail at no cost, note that it is more than likely freshly cut and wet but will burn if the fire is hot enough. The tent site is right next to rapids on the Snake river. If you struggle sleeping to the sound of rushing water, this may not be for you!

We are a small family farm. From April-October we make a living on the farm and enjoy rural life. We’re very busy during these months and if you stay with us you may be able to enjoy fresh produce for purchase- we also have neighbors that sell eggs, there is a Meat shop in downtown Lindstrom and 2 miles away is Rod's Country Corner (ice cream, pizza, sandwiches, essentials). So, you could have the opportunity for some delicious camp food while staying here. It is very beautiful with much to see and do. Things to note: 1. There are black bear in the area, please keep food stowed away in your car at night and your campsite clean. 2. Storms pop-up and tents etc. are subject to wind, please be mindful of the weather and any incidents that occur are not liable to the property owners. When you arrive pull up in the driveway we will direct you to your location... and please park your vehicle close to your site. When you are tent camping this can come in handy during any inclimate weather, which can pop up randomly during the summer months. We have a rustic composting toilet for guest use. Please read the instructions on the inside before using. This is a working farm, it can be unkempt or messy- it is also mosquito forward and wood tick forward-please bring bug spray. Many of our past campers have enjoyed the scenery despite being next to a slightly trafficked road. Also, fireworks are very popular with the neighbors in the area around July 4th. Please respect our quiet time, when the sun goes down-so do we. No Smoking Marijuana or Tobacco on the farm, and no pets.
