Weekend Trip to Wise Woods on Fool Lake

What a great piece of lake property to camp! After a short drive up a wooded path you are greeted by a lovely piece of wooded lake heaven with open vista to the lake. The property has an elevated area where we put our Chalet and two tents. This is where the outhouse is located as well. The property has a partial "road" down to the lake where you can tell some people may have driven. Not steep however. There is a flat area by the lake where a fun two person swinging bench is located and large fire pit. Fools Lake is clean and clear for swimming and kaying, my favs. We were in the lake all the time. I enjoyed the ease of steps into the lake. There is a sandy bottom with some rocks (wear your water shoes) but so easy to lauch your canoe or kayaks. There is a large dock as well. This property is well hiden for privacy. Quiet. Beautiful. We will return.

3 nights at Welle's Campsite

Great experience all around! This was our first Hip Camp adventure and it has us looking for more opportunities. Larry gave us a warm welcome so it was inviting from the start. It’s a beautiful property and the campsite was delightful. We were visited by deer, a big old raccoon, a wide variety of birds and a half dozen cows from a neighboring farm. If you are an early riser, you hear a rooster crow from across a huge field. Our 4 little city dogs had a blast. We are grateful to this Hip Camp host for sharing a very special place. Highly recommended!!! K & L

Weekend Trip to SOL VIND - Lakeside Camping Retreat

We stayed with Sarah and Scott for 2 nights in a 15ft travel trailer. Directions were good. You do have to back in from the road but we had no issues and got right in. I suggest walking the road before backing in. The weather was super hot, this is the perfect spot for escaping the heat and enjoying the lake. Our hosts were so friendly and incredibly kind to share their beautiful place. The campsites are close to each other ( we lucked out and had the place to ourselves) but you won’t spend much time at your spot. There is a beautiful clean beach, lots of seating, manicured lawn with plenty of shade. We saw lots of birds there and turtles too. Father Hennepin state park is a short drive away with easy hiking trails. The town of Isle also has 2 convenience stores. There is an outhouse only but Sarah has everything you need in there and it was nice and clean. We did go through a frightening storm, with incredible winds coming off the lake. So if you know it’s going to rain, SECURE everything just in case. We did not and regret that. We had a relaxing and fun weekend and will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to The Woods

This is a great secluded site protected from wind and miles from anyone. Contrary to another review there are no porta potties, which is fine for me, but should be known. Nice paths through the woods. Excellent fire wood at the site with an honor box. Great directions and easy to find. Michael was super quick to respond to questions etc. 2 small towns 10 minutes away if you want to grab a beer and a burger at the local dive. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Weekend Trip to The Camps at the Vineyards

Cozy spot, beautiful area. Was just passing through MN and it was a great place to spend a quiet evening. Definitely recommend. A couple notes, I didn't have cell service out there so make sure to record the directions and instructions before you arrive. Also, wish I would have taken them up on a couple of those firewood bundles to quiet the mosquitoes.

3 nights at Dirt Haven GlamCamp

Large clearing surrounded by tall tree of a paved cul-de-sac. The road is very private with about 5 other simular plots of land. My kids were able to bike around in the cul-de-sac. About a half mile away there are trails and a lake access. It is a strep hill so be aware and if you drive there is a fee. We had a great time at the campsite and would recommend to family and friends.

1 night at The Camps at the Vineyards

Beautiful property with trees, open spaces and a gushing river this time of year. The property is really well looked after with clearly marked campsites and fire pits. We lost cell service in town so make sure you review the directions beforehand or it may take a little longer to find your way. Carl was a good communicator and kept us well informed prior to our arrival and even came over with a bottle of plum wine (harvested from his property) to share. We would definitely stay here again. Excellent spot!

There’s aLao a picnic table and a big fire pit. I’d recommend your own toilet set up if possible. It was wonderful! 10/10 I’d come again

What a great spot! Our 16 foot Scamp was really easy to get in and out. Quiet and private-we really enjoyed it. We kayaked and swam and enjoyed the view and the nature-also had fun exploring Crosby and lunch at the Bridge Tavern. We will definitely come back next year! Great location for all things to do in the Cuyuna area. Peaceful and pretty area to camp. Dawn was great at communicating and helping us with the WiFi right away. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Xtreme Hideout

Nice natural spot and clean area with short connecting walking trails on site. Quite close to a busy road, but relatively quiet and private. Didn’t use it, but I believe there is electric hook up (not 100% sure though). The host was easy to work with and responded to all questions.

The Hamlet Lake Homestead

The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill. Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

There are 2 fire rings for camp fires a propane and charcoal grill. The campground has a dock to access the lake and Crow Wing river. There is approximately 25 steps down the bank to the dock. The steps are newer but steep, If you choose to use them you do so at your own risk.

Located at the end of a private road on Fool Lake with wooded mature trees that offer privacy. The lake is quiet and calm. Fool Lake is a private, environmental lake, with many varieties of fish. Perfect for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and swimming. Boating is allowed up to 40 hp via gated private launch (no tubing or skiing). The land slopes to the lake where you will find small dock and a few stairs into the water. Well for water and electricity available including a 30 amp hookup for RV campers. Large outhouse also has electricity. Minutes away from access to Cuyuna trails, Crosby, and Emily, as well as nearby Nisswa and Crosslake. This central location offers access to any and all amenities. After a day on the trails, in town, or on the water, an evening at the fire pit overlooking the lake is a perfect way to end the day. Property is completely surrounded by the lake or wetlands making it feel like you're on your own private island. The only noises you'll hear will be the sound of local wildlife! We are a short drive or bike to the Cuyuna mountain biking trails and historic downtown Crosby! Distance to a few important landmarks and recommendations! Please be respectful and adhere to the mandatory quiet hours between 10pm to 7am. Outside of mandatory quiet hours, our neighbors (and their children) appreciate respectful noise levels; please no loud speakers or yelling- noise travels easily over water.

We have many lakes and activities in the area for camping, hunting, hiking, water sports, and fishing. There is no electricity, sewage, or irrigation. This property can accommodate recreational vehicles and RV's under 40ft (comfortably). It is highly suitable for campers or water goers who like to be closer to nature. You will find there are a couple seasonal neighbors further up the road that are known by myself and considered kind individuals who keep to themselves.
