Hosting May 22 - mid/Oct My husband Dan and I purchased this property 6 years ago and have totally restored the land, home and barn from its prior condition. Consequently, if you view the various on line satellite images be advised they are out of date and do not reflect the love we have put into our sanctuary. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana.
The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. We have planted various fruit trees, cherries, apples, peach as well as pears. We also have a small grape and berry patch which is next to our vintage trailer. There is also an old abandoned trail through the forest that makes for a nice walk.
Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor.
Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards, shops and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries.
There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes.
A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive.

We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. All our sites are fully outfitted with quality linens, towels, dishes and cooking equipment. All of the units have Air Conditioned and heat.
New this year is our chicken coop and run. We (Bill) has always wanted chickens.

Black Sheep Landings is 10 acres of real, working Northern Michigan land, located roughly halfway between Boyne City and Boyne Mountain. Trees line two sides of the site, giving you a sense of separation without pretending you’re in the middle of nowhere.
This is a rural road, and you’ll hear the occasional truck pass, especially in the early morning. We’d rather tell you that upfront than have you discover it on your own.
This isn’t a polished resort with manicured pads and cookie-cutter sites. It’s a working property. There’s a barn nearby with some honest wear on its siding, and a couple of areas around the property are still a work in progress. None of that affects your stay.
What you get is a site that’s entirely yours, with a real fire pit at the center, a gazebo covering a screened-in picnic table so dinner doesn’t turn into a bug buffet, and plenty of open space to park whatever you bring—trucks, trailers, ATVs, bikes, boats, and more.
We live close by, about 100 yards up the driveway, which means help is never far if you need it. It also means this isn’t a deep-woods, off-grid kind of stay. It’s a working landscape with room to breathe, not total isolation.
The driveway itself is steep, so take it slow on your way in and out, especially when there’s snow on the ground.
Bring the dog. Bring the whole crew, honestly—there’s room for both. This is the kind of place you come to for the fire pit at night, the acreage during the day, and the freedom to enjoy the property at your own pace.

We really enjoyed our stay! The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, met us when we arrived to show us around, and gave us some great recommendations for places nearby. The site was clean, peaceful, and very well cared for, and they made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit!
We especially loved falling asleep to the sound of the stream each night. The string lights inside and out made the site feel so cozy, and the hot outdoor shower was another favorite! We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it.

We absolutely loved our stay at the A-frame treehouse! It was such a unique and peaceful little getaway, tucked away in the woods and surrounded by nature. You can really tell how much love and hard work went into creating this space.
Everything was cozy, thoughtful, and exactly what we were hoping for. We loved being able to slow down, enjoy the quiet, and just spend time together. The location was beautiful, and the treehouse itself made the whole stay feel like an adventure.
Our hosts were incredibly kind and communicative, and they made sure we had everything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and want everyone to have a great experience. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, cozy, one-of-a-kind getaway. Thank you for sharing your little piece of the woods with us! 🌲

2 nights at Schoolie Bus Camp & Camping Area
What a great experience! The bus was super cool! We were comfortable with 3 people sharing the bus, and appreciated the toilet & running water. It was quiet out there, but only a few minutes away from great beaches and downtown. I’d recommend this spot to anyone looking for unique and fun accommodations!

We love these cabins..it's a little bit of paradise with your own little beach.. yes it's rocky but nothing water shoes can't fix if you want to swim.
We love that you can go far out and still be walking in the water. We spent lots of time swimming and floating.
We had some friends join us with their little boy and they also loved it. We did have to buy firewood for 3 days while waiting for them to come back and replenish the pile so that was a downfall. I messaged them when we got there (Friday) and they did not come out to fill till Monday but other then that it was a great stay.
One of the picnic tables benches was broke when we arrived so we used that one for our cooking and food table. The hot water was a little stinky so maybe just needs some softener added.
An idea for the 3rd cabin if it's not going to get fixed up with a bed would be nice for a table in it just in case it rains for somewhere to gather and eat.
This was our 3rd year and we'll be back next year.

This area was super private and magical! Pictures don’t even come close to what it was like to be in the vicinity of the treehouse. There was plenty of room to also set up a tent and lots of areas to kick back and hang. John was the best and was so quick to respond and share knowledge of the Charlevoix area. His treehouse was designed thoughtfully and the photo album was a fun touch.

Amazing stay! Bill and Dan have thought of every detail! The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The location is central to many hikes, nature preserves, and beaches. We slept great and were able to fully relax!

Group trip
Our favorite place to stay each summer! Has all necessities and then some. Some friends stay in the cabins and some of us threw up our tents, either is great. Lots of space for games, cooking, lounging. Will be back next year!

Weekend Trip to Treehouse Convertible A-Frame Cabin
The spot was very well thought out. We stopped to check out the camp right around check-in to be sure we knew what to expect when we returned later that night. We started the evening out at a beautiful upscale concert in dress clothes and came back to reground ourselves. We needed nothing to continue our evening aside from removing our shoes, as the terrain is not meant for high heels. lol! It was very accommodating! Very well done!

Dan and Bill’s land is beautiful! We had an excellent time and they are fantastic hosts. The place is quiet, serene, and close to town. Pictures truly don’t do this place justice. The RV is gorgeous and fully stocked, just bring clothes and food! We loved hanging on the deck to enjoy the sunset and hot tub. Our son had a wonderful time sleeping in the second loft and can’t stop talking about wanting to go back to the RV- including to see the chickens! Dan and Bill are the friendliest hosts I’ve ever met and we would love to go visit them again at HillCrest!

This was my second year coming to stay with Dan and Bill, and it did not disappoint! We stayed in the Lake View Avion trailer, which was just perfect. Dan and Bill are attentive hosts, and their property is full of beautiful wonder. It was the perfect place to come back to after a day of exploring around Traverse City. 10/10 recommend!
