Our small place is a forested Tree house in a Michigan wooded neighborhood on Croton Pond with a spot for a small camper, plenty of tent space, has a private drive, camp style privacy toilet, waterfront access across the road (185 steps to the water front and small beach) and sleeps 3. We have a paddleboard that our renters can use and the lake is so peaceful in the morning. The Treehouse has a power cord for electricity and a table fan but no AC. Please bring your own bedding. There is one full mattress in loft and a twin futon. Our special place is only 2 miles to the Dragon Trail which is a well known biking and hiking trail, the trail is about 50 miles around our beautiful lake and is a very stunning adventure! We are about 15 minutes away from a downtown that has bars, playgrounds, restaurants, and grocery stores. There is a great organic, hippy vibe breakfast spot nearby called Hit the Road Joes. They also have wood fired pizzas on Saturday evenings.
Another good, old school breakfast spot is Diner between the Dams.
The Pine Cone has a great ice cream selection and large menu of concession type food: hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fries, nachos, etc.
The Driftwood bar and restaurant on our lake (Croton Pond) has live music on the Saturdays and Sundays.
The Trading Post has subs and pizza. They do have some limited delivery times to our spot.

We have about 40 acres and trails through the area for exploring. You just may come across some "forts" constructed by some of our grandchildren. There is a large fire pit and plenty of firewood for a minimal cost. (Large trash can full. ) If you listen in the evening, you are likely able to hear a couple of owls talking back and forth. Usually you can see some deer and maybe some turkeys. There are many old pines around the property, the last remnants of our Christmas tree farm.
There is no electricity in the cabin, but we do have two solar lights and some battery lights. If it's been rainy, the solar won't last as long as usual. If it's chilly, we do have a portable heater available.
We have cornhole game available upon request and some table games kept in cabin. If you want to go biking, there is a trail in town, about 5 miles away.

My wife and I are slowly starting up our own little farm. We have 2 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, a dog, chickens and lots of ducks. We also starting a business called River’s Edge Lavender which will be a upick lavender and wild flower farm.
We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer that we use to stock our farm stand. Our farm stand provides veggies (when ready), chicken and ducks eggs, handmade crafts and items from our River’s Edge Lavender business.
We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a cost that is located on the farm stand . Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire ring. If camping by the field fires will be dependent on conditions.
We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river.
We are new to hosting so please provide us with feedback! We are working on the campsites so suggestions are welcome to what can make it better. A porta potty will be available in the future.
Quiet time 11 pm. We are an easy going couple that just want to share this slice of paradise with others!

We had a great time here - Cathy was very welcoming and took time to give us a tour of the cabin, making sure we knew everything we needed to be comfortable. The cabin itself was very comfortable, and the location was isolated and peaceful but still not too far from town when we needed something. Sitting by the fire pit at night was lovely. We hope to make it back again!

Ed and Pat created a truly amazing space to connect with nature and get away for a night. We enjoyed cooking steaks and veggies on the fire pit and being able to relax to the sounds of critters and wind thru the trees. Haven’t slept that good in a while with the windows open and light breeze. Worth the trip.

The toilet is well maintained and theres even an outdoor shower if you're into that sort of thing while you're camping 😊 20/10 reccommend a visit in either the cabins or tent sites!

I was treated very kindly by my hosts (human and dog) and had a enjoyable stay. I did bring my hiking pad to put on the futon so I have no complaints about comfort. It is a great spot to hear and see many different birds and just enjoy nature.

We had a wonderful time at this cabin! It’s beautifully built and everything was well stocked and maintained. Cathy was very hospitable and the pie was incredible. We loved cooking dinners over the fire and walking all the trails. We saw chipmunks, a baby deer, lots of birds, and a fox. Definitely recommend this place!

I loved how quiet and private the cabin felt, and the view of the forest from the large window. Great setup for hanging out outside with the fire ring, chairs and porch. Overall, a lovely place to stay for a weekend!

We had an amazing stay at the cabin, really peaceful and relaxing area, hosts were friendly and helpful. We loved seeing all the animals, and our daughter really loved helping with the chores. The cabin is really nice and very spacious, we will definitely be going back. Great breakfast also.

We really loved this place! The host was super friendly and so kind. Our dog soon became best friends with his old dog Luke. Just hung around and made himself at home. It was great! The cabin “M” had just enough room to be cozy yet functional. We will definitely be back!

The cabin was clean and cozy, a great getaway to unplug and relax. First night was all to ourselves and it was truly peaceful and perfect for us and the dogs. You have a decent amount of privacy with the trees filled in you can’t really see the campers or other cabin. We met coco Ed’s off leash dog, she is so sweet and made her rounds to come say hi, play with our dogs, and hang out on the porch. Ed has some essential things but you should bring your own utensils and kitchenware to be safe, if not you are not far from town and can pick stuff up that you’ll need, convenient location. He has supplies like slippers, gloves for the wood burner, lantern, fairy lights, strainer, can opener, pocket knives, propane single burner for FLUIDS ONLY, dog bowl, potable water, bug spray(you’ll need it), 2 plates, a bowl, extra blankets and 2 pillows, as well as wood for the wood burner. He will come around and replenish the water in a cooler dispenser down by the bathrooms, you must pack up your trash, plenty of wood for a Bon fire, and if you can brave it the outdoor seasonal cold shower is rejuvenating. Your dogs are allowed off leash and there are multiple little trails on the property that will lead you back to the property. Outhouse was clean and stocked, even had a night light inside. Ed was great host, our last day it was down pouring and he was considerate to let us take our time getting packed up. We loved this lil getaway and we definitely will remember this place and come back.

We absolutely adored our stay in the treehouse and were thrilled to watch the farm animals munching away in all the different pastures! Plus, being JRR Tolkien fans, it was a real treat to see the hobbit hole under construction! And with the lake right there, we had a blast getting our paddle boards in the water!

Ed was very welcoming, thoughtful and communicative. He greeted us upon arrival and gave a quick run down of the cabin/land. He even had a fire already started in the cabin as it was a bit chilly.
The grand cabin was so cute and cozy. The bed was comfy and the portapotty was clean. There was no one else there when we were there so it was really private. A lovely place to unplug and unwind in nature.
There is plenty of clean water and firewood. There were also a few spices, tea, hot chocolate and instant coffee. There is a pan and grate for outdoor cooking but I suggest bringing a pot, utensils and cooking tools!
