We had a fantastic stay at Moss and Mushrooms’ Rustic Getaway! We happened to be the only campers on the grounds that week so it was incredibly secluded and quiet. The trails provided for great walks to take in the scenery… who am I kidding… to visit the goats! Romeo and Papagoateo were one of our favorite parts of the trip!
We took a day to explore the surrounding area and decided to visit Tubs Lake and spend some time in the sun and water. It was a short trip and a quiet little area. We happened upon an adorable ice cream shop on the way back that was the perfect end to our day trip!
We did have a storm roll through during our stay, but Justin and Sara ensured we remained safe and allowed us to take shelter in their barn during the worst of it.
All in all, it was rustic, beautiful, welcoming, a little buggy, but overall a great experience and definitely a place I’d recommend you check out!
Thank you Justin, Sara, girls, Romeo, Papagoateo, Buddy, Snugglepuss, Sting and CAT for being such amazing hosts! Looking forward to seeing you again in the future!

Camping at Moss-N-Mushroom is always a pleasure! Sites, toilets, and common areas are well maintained, and most sites offer plenty of privacy and are spacious. To top it off, Justin & Sara are welcoming and accommodating. This is a well run campground. Highly recommend.

Sara and Justin were lovely hosts! The tent was comfortable and cozy, and the trails were pristine. We especially appreciated the hot shower after a day of hiking the Manistee. A friendly vibe, lovely location and great hosts! Thank you for making our anniversary special. Your site is an asset to the community.

We had a great time camping at one of Justin and Sara's tent sites! The site was a bit more secluded than others which allowed for a very relaxing few days. Both Justin and Sara were extremely hospitable, friendly, and helpful. I would highly recommend this spot to others and we'll most likely be coming back as soon as we can!

We had a really beautiful and relaxing time camping at moss and mushroom. Our campsite was secluded but close enough to a clean bathroom that it was convenient. There's tons of fun things to look at/explore on their property. Justin and Sara were super friendly and accommodating, they recommended a river kayaking adventure for us in town and it was well worth it! We will definitely be visiting them again!

I loved rent camping at moss n mushrooms! I felt very welcomed and the campsite was perfect! It was really cool to see the animals and hear all the birds. I think the bathrooms were spread out nicely and the shower was super nice.

This camping spot was completely amazing we just had a weekend getaway. We rented kayak’s from buckets and spent our day in the river. It was one of the best trips I’ve taken. Justin and Sara were amazing host and always responded quickly as can be. The loads of wood we got from them were generous and their animals were so friendly and a great experience. Plus the trails were fun to walk to day and night. The sites were nice and spread out. We will definitely be back

Just was such an amazing host and their land is absolutely beautiful ! My sister and I spent two nights here after a mishap with our original plans. Justin was so helpful and him and Sarah provided us free firewood and ice to makeup for our mishap! They also have such a beautiful space of land and the cutest campsites that were perfect for my sister and I! They also have the cutest goats and cats which my sister and I spent so much time playing with!!

We loved staying at Moss n Mushrooms! The farm was easy to find and Sarah was really helpful with extra directions and all communication/questions we had too! The site was great, secluded and woodsy, not too close to other sites. While I love a secluded site, I also loved the fun walkable attractions on their land (Hammock circle, giant mushroom, fort/playground). All so fun and with hilarious/lovely decorations! Plenty of wood was provided. Bathroom was clean. Justin welcomed us there and provided a map and encouraged us to check out the place. Very kind. We definitely WILL be coming back. Love this place.

Rustic Forest Getaway
Omg this place is so great! Many different types of campsites nestled in a beautiful wooded area. Our rustic campsite was a good size for a small group, and it felt very nice and secluded. We had so much fun walking around on the paths and discovering fun little structures, signs, and art. The fort looks so cool lit up at night, and the map and handmade road signs were such a nice touch. We were just there for one (rainy) night and didn't get to see everything, so we'll have to come back soon!

BEST camping experience ever! Sara and Justin are absolutely gems and made such a welcoming environment at their property! The farm fresh eggs were such a fun addition to the experience. All of the animals were so cute and friendly! This trip compares to none!!! If you are looking for a breath taking Michigan trip in the forest, this is 100% where you want to be. The glamping tent was absolutely pristine and the toilets were the nicest outdoor toilets I’ve ever experienced.

Spent one night in a tent at the rustic forrest get away. Very clean campground and tidy trails with cute decorations all around. Porta potties and handwashing stations are conveniently located at trail intersections. Pretty large bundles of fire wood available for sale on site which was nice. Hosts were friendly and responsive

Camping at Moss n Mushroom was awesome. The land is beautiful! It was a drizzly fall weekend which meant that mushrooms were flushing in spades. I’m not skilled in foraging, but it was gorgeous to see. Sarah and Justin were lovely. The outdoor shower was a particular delight - hot and refreshing on a cool, wet day. I’ll definitely be back.

Rustic Forest Getaway
We had a great time. Most of the sites have a nice amount of privacy. The forest is great, hardwoods and shade 😎. My daughter had a great time finding little tree frogs and salamanders. There are so many types of mushrooms around, we even saw some bioluminescent ones, neat! The hosts are really nice and made the stay enjoyable.

The land was beautifully cared for and the tent was absolutely lovely. They even added a birthday banner because I told them I was surprising someone, the intentionality of the whole experience was so wonderful. Would recommend and revisit!

Moss N' Mushroom has lots of space to offer with plenty of space and privacy between numerous sights.
The sites were clean, and well groomed, and they are generous with the firewood that is available as an additional purchase. Toilet and showering facilities were also very clean.
They also have several places where you can socialize with campers at other sites if that is what you are looking for, but there is also plenty of privacy if solitude is what you are after.
This property is also close to many recreational activities on water and land, so if you want to explore away from the campground, there's plenty of opportunity.
I can't recommend Moss N' Mushroom campground highly enough. 10/10

Our family of 4 had a great weekend camping trip at Moss & Mushrooms. We asked for a site with trees for our teens' hammocks and they upgraded us to a group site which was SO spacious and lovely. We had lots of rain but there was no puddling or pooling on our campsite. The $10 for a load of wood we bought lasted us for 3 days. The hand washing stations near the port-o-potties were so convenient, and the bathroom was very clean. We enjoyed petting the goats through the gate and wandering the trails. The other campers - who relatively far from us - were all friendly. This was our first camping experience through HipCamp and we were very happy that we found Justin & Sara's spot. We hope to go back.

The hosts of this campground are unmatched, they are so sweet! I loved how clean their forest was & also how private & secluded our site was. It was so nice listening to the birds chirp as I woke up in the morning, it was the nature reset I truly needed without any of the work to set up and tear down. The tent itself looked brand new! It was decorated so cute with rugs, twinkle lights, and a real bed! It was so cozy and I slept so good. Glamping at its finest!
I’ll definitely be back for another visit!

They have beautiful land and sites! They are more private and secluded like my husband & I enjoy. Although it was short, it was such a great experience! They are a lovely family and it is so wonderful to see the animals and enjoy the nature, with a moment of stillness and quiet.

We loved tent camping at Moss n' Mushrooms. The Hosts, Justin and Sarah (and their two adorable daughters) could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. When we arrived, the entire family welcomed us and helped us find our site. The sites are tucked away within the trees, offering good privacy. Justin checked in with us once a day to make sure we had what we needed. We also learned how his family found themselves on this land, the events they run, and their focus on building an amazing community around them. A few things we did while staying there: Kayaking on the Chippewa River, stargazing/night photography, walking the property (lots of cool things scattered all over), and a delicious breakfast at KJ's.

This was such a great spot to camp. They really put in the effort to make it a great place- the trails and maps were fun and the actual campsite are beautiful and spacious. I loved that there were common areas too like the hammocks (no one else was there when we were though). They give you plenty of fire wood and were so welcoming. We got caught in a huge storm in the morning and they let us stay past checkout to get all of our stuff packed up too. The bathroom was super nice and my dog looooved the goats. I plan to come back again!

My husband and I had a fantastic weekend with a very clean, shaded, and semi-secluded campsite. Sarah and Justin were both very kind and provided great directions and suggested a day at Tubbs Lake which was exactly what we were looking for a nice swim! We definitely plan on taking another weekend trip here!
