I'm excited to share with you my private, five-acre property, bordering 1030ft of the Chippewa River. Whether you are looking for a private site to pitch a tent along the river's edge, a semi-rustic cabin getaway, or a space to host a small group campout or retreat- this property can provide! With the riverfront comes access to swimming, fishing, kayaking and even a polar plunge- if you dare! Firewood is included FREE of charge with any booking. The village of Barryton is minutes away and features pizza, ice cream shops and an Artesian well to fill your water jugs with fresh spring water. It's a short drive to multiple sports lakes that are known for excellent fishing. Michigan's longest running music festival, Wheatland Music Festival, is a short 15 minute drive. River's edge site #2 is a short walk from the parking area and situated right along the edge of the riverbank! You really can't beat the sounds of the river while you hang in your hammock! This site is approximately 100 yards from the parking area so bring a wagon or pack light. There is a composting toilet located in the small grey building next to the parking area. There is a manual pump water station with limited water for hand washing. Once the jug is gone, that's it. Enjoy kayaking, tubing and fishing right from your campsite. There's a firepit with firewood free of charge. At the SW corner of the property, near the bridge, there's a nice swimming hole in the river that's over 6 ft deep. You are free to explore the groomed trails, but I ask that you remain mindful and respectful as there are other sites on the property and there may be others enjoying the space at the same time as you. Disclaimer- there is a bit of poison ivy in the "wild" areas, so I suggest sticking to the trails. I'm working to exterminate it, but it's hardy and it takes time to get it all.

My vision for this site is for a small group of friends, or family to enjoy a private camp with lots to offer. The group campsite is a short walk from the parking area and situated 15 yards from the edge of the river! You're bound to find the serene sounds of the river washing over rocks incredibly soothing! Don't forget your hammock or you'll miss your chance to hang next to the river in two perfectly spaced trees for hammock hangs. This site is situated on the NE corner of the property and on the bank of the river. It's approximately 50 yards straight down the trail next to the parking area. You'll enjoy the sounds of the flowing river while lounging in your hammock. There is a composting toilet located in the small grey building next to the parking area. There is a manual pump water station with limited water for hand washing. Once the jug is gone, that's it. Enjoy kayaking, tubing and fishing right from your campsite. This cozy cabin is only 40 feet from the water. The site includes a furnished cabin, which includes a mini fridge, two beds, futon and game table with chairs. You'll need to bring your own bedding. Just off of the deck are two maple trees that are perfect for hammock hanging. The river splits around an island directly in front of the cabin creating a small wading stream for kids to splash around in. Enjoy kayaking, tubing and fishing right from your campsite. There's a firepit with firewood and chairs for you to use free of charge. At the SW corner of the property, near the bridge, there's a nice swimming hole in the river that's over 6 ft deep. You are free to explore the groomed trails, but I ask that you remain mindful and respectful as there are tent sites along the river and there may be others enjoying the space at the same time as you. There is not a well at camp. There is a 5-gallon water jug on a pump located under the sink. The faucet at the sink works just the same as a normal faucet, but when the jug is empty, that's all the water that is available. I suggest bringing your own drinking water and using the faucet to wash any dishes or your hands. There is a composting toilet located in the small brown building closest to the road. Do your business as usual then sprinkle a cup full of the provided ground hemp fiber in toilet then close the lid to allow the ventilation to work as designed. There is a manual pump water station for hand washing. Again, once the jug is gone, that's it. DISCLAIMER: I SUGGEST NOT WANDERING OFF TRAIL AS THERE IS POISON IVY. I am working to irradicate it from the premises, but it's an extremely hardy plant and it takes time to get rid of it completely.

Cozy cabin on the river

Jason hosted my family for 2 nights while we attended a nearby music festival. We wanted all the music during the day but be able to retreat to a quiet space & recharge. The cabin by the river is exactly what we needed: camping feel in a comfy & safe place to rest in between busy festival days. It's big enough us with the full size fold-out sofa bed, a loft area with mattress, & my 6' husband could fit a longer, single camping cot on the main floor as well. The mini-fridge is a nice addition to upgraded camping, keeping essentials cool & has an eating/cooking area. We are at the age that tent camping has lost some appeal, but our kiddo wants to "glamp" so we found a happy medium in felt that we were "fancy camping". The temperatures got down to high 40's at night, but the cabin stayed warm & comfy inside, we had just a light blanket & comforters, hubby in sleeping bag & a small Dewalt fan on for noise. It was warm & cozy, not too humid, no musty smells, cute rustic look. Our daughter rated it 4/5 for really comfortable beds and "just the right size cabin" and it "didn't smell like animals". The vibe by the river with the stars, fire pit, & grassy lawn is relaxing with a feeling of privacy & solitude, even with a road nearby. Barefoot yoga, river walk/play, stargazing, smore's by the fire, help us connect with nature. A rustic-feel with no shower, no wi-fi, & an outhouse-style with composting toilet, & no running water. The camping vibes without the tent & air mattress

Quick stay after wedding

Booked a night stay for a wedding at a nearby venue. The property is very cute and quaint, but spacious at the same time. There were no others staying while we were here. The river bank is full of beautiful wildflowers, but it’s pretty slow moving and mucky so bring your water shoes! There was a nice sized fire pit with wood, which we wished we could have enjoyed. The tiny house itself is nice, but could have used a good dead bug removal before we got there. The bathhouse is also well maintained and a lot nicer than I was expecting for a rustic spot. Don’t forget your TP! Overall a very peaceful experience and nice location.

Riverside Retreat Group Campsite

We had an amazing stay at this campground during Barryton Days! The location couldn’t have been more convenient it made it so easy to enjoy all the festivities without worrying about driving to make an early morning softball game. The host was incredibly welcoming, friendly. You can tell he truly care about the guests and take pride in the campground.We had a great experience that we’re already looking forward to coming back next year. If you’re planning to visit Barryton or Barryton Days, we highly recommend staying at this spot.

Stop looking! This is the property to book if you’re looking for gorgeous views, private sites, well maintained walking paths, easy access to a river, or an abundance of wildlife. Jason was phenomenal to work with and his property was nothing short of spectacular! It had everything I was looking for to rest and relax. Don’t let the short walk to your site deter you. They are well worth it. Even though I stayed at River’s Edge, I was able to see each site. Each of the outer sites and the cabin has a great view of the river. While the group site doesn’t have a clear view of the river, there is still access on the property. The site is stunning and perfect for group get togethers. My dog and I definitely didn’t want to leave! We couldn’t say goodbye, we said until next time!

Riverside Fallen Tree

I loved tent camping on Jason's land with my dog. It's exactly what we were looking for! 5 acres right along the Chippewa river and we set up our tent just steps from the river. For the most part pretty quiet area just a little bit of occasional road noise or kayakers down the river. There is a few spots to splash in the river to cool off. It looks like Jason is adding more to the property, I might check out the cabins next time!

Rustic River Magic

We hosted a sauna & camp weekend here and rented the entire river property—epic spot. The highlight was swimming in the river and jumping off the bridge into the deep hole. We also did a ~2.5 hour trip down the Chippewa, starting right at camp and ending at 19 Mile Road—only a 3-minute shuttle, surprisingly long and convenient. We first paddled upstream but turned back after downed trees, then drifted downstream. Some shallow spots, but easy to hop off and scoot paddleboards along. At night it was wonderfully quiet, and the stars lit up the sky. Even near the cabin there wasn’t much road noise, and if you go back to the tent sites by the river you likely wouldn’t hear cars at all. The sites are well spread out and could easily host a big group. Our crew of 10 loved having the whole property for privacy and to set up our mobile sauna trailer right on the riverbank. Jason also has exciting plans for the lot across the river, so it’s only going to get better. The bathroom setup is rustic—the girls in our group weren’t thrilled—but it’s rustic camping, so fair trade for such a natural spot. Overall, no complaints. If you’re into kayaking, paddleboarding, or fishing and want to escape crowded campgrounds, this is a fantastic find. Highly recommend for both small and large groups looking for a private riverside getaway.

We had a wonderful experience renting this group campsite! The site was peaceful and well maintained, perfect for a relaxing getaway. We especially enjoyed walking through the mowed trails. The host was responsive and accommodating throughout our stay, always available when needed. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

Upon arrival, I could already tell we were going to love it. Me and me honey came as a getaway without kiddos. And the peacefulness along with the site right on the river was so amazing. The trails are so amazing and the wildlife we saw was such a plus, bunnies, deer, eagle's! The land is well kept, as well as the outhouse and the sites with trails. I plan on coming back and renting the cabin and bringing my children.

Loved so many things about this spot. First, town is close by to run in and grab extra ice and all the others things we forgot and needed. Nice restaurant and huge ice cream servings close by. The property itself is beautiful. It's quiet and peaceful. We brought the kayaks and had a 3 hr float down the river. Parked a truck at a close by bridge. The Blackstone was great for all meals. Loved that firewood was provided. We will be back again with a large group as well as just the fam.

Absolutely amazzzinggggg property! Jason was WONDERFUL to work with & we couldn’t have asked for a better time or host! The property is right along side the river where we kayaked for the afternoon! We fished, jumped off the bridge & had so much space for camping activities! We will absolutely be booking here again! The property has a ton of space for tent camping as well as a mini cabin fully prepped for us! The cabin and bathroom was super clean and easily managed!! Forever in love with riverside !! :) Highly highly recommend !

Was absolutely an awesome experience! There was plenty of room for all of our tents. The location is such a beautiful peaceful area, the kiddos even got to see a couple baby deer! Jason was very easy to communicate with and responded promptly! We will definitely be coming for another visit!

What a beautiful and magical space! My 2 small children and I had such a peaceful, playful and grounding experience disconnecting from everyday routine and connecting with each other and nature. Campfires under the stars were perfect with tons of fire wood provided! The property is gorgeous and so beautifully cared for. We enjoyed fishing, playing cornhole and bocce ball, splashing in the river and tuning from one end of the property to the other. There is so much space for multiple families to camp at once and a beautiful cabin and bathhouse. We look forward to returning. Jason is a wonderful host and provided us with everything we needed to know.

River's Edge Fernside Site

Camping on Jason’s land went super smooth! Instructions were clear and the land was gorgeous! How can you beat camping on a river?? Jason gave me my choice of sites since I was the only one there and it was so hard to decide they were all so pretty! They’re was plenty of fire wood and lots of room for my dog to run around, wildlife was minimal and I came at the right time of year! Fishing was plentiful in the river and nearby lake. The outhouse was an exceptionally wonderful treat from what I’m used to, besides the fact that I didn’t have any service, which didn’t really bother me, I rather enjoyed being able to fully unplug for a day and reconnect with nature. This area is the perfect get away! I will be back!! Thanks Jason for such a wonderful experience:))

Oasis in the Woods

We loved camping out at Jason's cabin! After 70° weather, we were surprised with some snow for the majority of our stay. The cabin kept us very warm and there was plenty of fire wood pre-stacked for our use. The Chippewa River was gorgeous and the cut-trails were easy and fun to explore. It truly feels like a safe haven, an oasis out in nature. Jason responded quickly to any questions we asked him during our stay. Highly recommend!!
