On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy.
I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river.
This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads.
There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest.
There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls.
There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.

Wow! What a magical place. I had an amazing time camping at Eagle Pines On The Bad River and spending a gorgeous exploring Deans land. He’s clearly put much time and care into building and maintaining the trails. The map, signs and ribbons were very helpful for navigating the area. It was an absolute delight and adventure hiking the trails and wandering around the three waterfalls.
Dean was also an excellent host. He was incredibly accommodating, responded quickly to my messages and provided very detailed instructions and recommendations upon booking.
I highly recommend these sites to anyone wanting a peaceful, somewhat rustic and secluded spot to stargaze, canoe/kayak, hike and commune with the land and water. I hope to visit again soon.

We had the greatest time camping at Bad River Wilderness! We stayed at Bad River Point. Dean was most accommodating and helpful. The campsites are very remote and short walks to the waterfalls. Gorgeous property! Extremely clean and well taken care of! We enjoyed hiking the beautiful paths! Walking on the railroad tracks. Exploring in the canoe was also fun! Loved our time at this spot! Beautiful camp with amazing giant pine trees and a great setting on the river. Definitely plan to return! The river was low at this time of the year, but still managed to get out on the canoe provided and that was a great surprise to have available. We even saw a pair of swans!

We had a wonderful time at Beach Camp! We were in a tent, so loved the flushing toilet! The road is close, but we found the convenience of it well worth any noise we may have heard. There is a full tree line between the camping area and it, so you can’t see the cars, only occasionally hear them when at the campsite - never by the beach. The beach area is to die for. So close to camp and just a haven.

This is the most beautiful and serene location along Lake Superior! There are kayaks, bikes, and corn hole available for use, but it’s also a great place to sit and relax on the beach and enjoy the lake. The bathroom was very clean and water pump convenient. Doug and April provided a lot of great information prior to my arrival to be sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I would recommend this camp site in a heartbeat!

The campsite was magical! If you're looking for a beautiful place to really get off the beaten path, this is a great place to do it. The river was nice for a cooling swim on a hot day. Dean takes very good care of the property. I could occasionally hear voices off in the distance from other campers and their dogs, but I never saw another person in the day and night I spent there.

Matt takes excellent care of the property. His pride is obvious. He shares stories about the history of the resort. Everything is CLEAN! Each site has its own trash and recycling bins, so no hauling. I don't need to explain how wonderful it is to have our water hookup and sewer hookups right on site. We also had great conversations with him. I'd highly recommend!

It's easy to see why this place is booked every weekend in the summer up here. This spot is beautiful and very well maintained. The site has a number of flat open areas for choosing where to set up a tent and the parking pad is also pretty level if you car camp like we do. The entire site is also sandy, so getting tent stakes in would be a breeze. The host, Dean, did inform us that he was away and wouldn't be able to stock the firewood, so not having firewood there when I arrived was not a huge shock. Very appreciative that he communicated that ahead of time, along with his thorough communications outside of the firewood.
Due to me and my partner getting sick the weekend we had planned on camping, only I made the trip to the site just to check it out and I did not stay overnight, but I can imagine it would have been a very restful spot as it was a quiet spot with great access to the a night sky.

We had such a lovely time at Bad River Point, as mentioned multiple times by the host there is a short hike in! The bugs were non existent and the River was great for our dog to swim!
