Early September Update: The river is at its 100% peak best summer quality. Still quite warm and PERFECT for lounging, floating, kayaking and snorkeling (20 ft visibility or better).
A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others.
Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended.
We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans
4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events.
Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career.

A 3-person salt-water hot tub is available, contingent on availability. $50/hr. and requires a shower before entering. Spa robes, towels, and slippers are provided, depending on availability.
2 e-bikes and 1 mountain bike, all of which are contingent upon availability. A signed waiver is required. Minimum age is 16 years old or at the discretion of the host. They cost $25/hr. per person.
Experienced horse riders can book horse rides for $50/hr. per person. Inexperienced riders must be led using a lead rope. Signed waivers and provided helmets are required.
Our in-ground, unheated swimming pool is open mid-April to end October. $60/hr.

The Appalachian trail runs on the ridge of South Mountain a short drive away. The campsite is full sun located near a creek. Antietam battlefield in Sharpsburg is a 10 minute drive away. The Boonsboro Washington Monument is a 15-minute drive away. There’s also a museum for the Civil War Battle of South Mountain. Fun daytime trips are tubing with River Riders, hike the Appalachian Trail, Bike the C&O Canal, or visit Antietam Battlefield and other local Civil War Sites.

Historical towns within 10 miles any direction are reached over rolling countryside. Gettysburg is less than 20 miles. Baltimore is less than an hours ride by open highway. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard.

We just spent a wonderful weekend at this private campground about 30 minutes from Ocean City, MD, and it was exactly what we needed — a peaceful nature retreat with all the right comforts! The property perfectly balances rustic charm with modern conveniences. We loved having access to clean, well-maintained bathrooms and incredibly hot showers that felt like a luxury after a day outdoors.
The owner was fantastic — super friendly, flexible, and genuinely helpful with anything we needed. It made our stay so much more enjoyable knowing we could reach out easily.
What truly made this place special was the adorable animal crew that runs the property! The goats are absolute stars — so friendly and curious that they came right up to us for pets. The chickens and the very cute duck were just as charming, wandering around and adding so much personality to the grounds. We couldn’t stop smiling every time we saw them!
The location is ideal too — close enough to enjoy a day at the beach in Ocean City or Assateague Island, then come back to relax by a fire while nature sings you to sleep. Whether you’re tent camping, in an RV, or staying in one of the mini cabins, this spot has something for everyone. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking to unplug and recharge. Nathan & his family welcomed us to their farm. The spot included electrical hook up, a fire pit & firewood. The farm is beautiful! Make sure to visit the distillery. Nathan will teach you a little about their family business. I walked up to the onsite cemetery. The view from up there was stunning. Hope to get to stay with Nathan & his family again in the future. Excellent hosts!
