We purchased this land a few years ago when our neighbors decided to sell. It abuts our property They used it as a place for their family to gather and camp on during Maine wonderful summer season. It is a beautiful, quiet spot with a great view and a small pond. Hipcamp lets us share this spot and helps pay our property taxes.We are located in the western mountains of Maine in a summer community on Porter Lake. There is a beautiful view of New Vineyard mountain from our 3 acre field. We have 2 trailer sites with power and water (non potable) and an out house. The field has several fire pits and soft grassy spaces for pitching tents. The camping area is fairly private from our neighbors along the road. The site has a small private pond surrounded by trees you can sit and relax near. You can (walk/bike/drive) the 1/4 mile down the dirt road to the public beach. The beach has a public dock, boat ramp, swim float, picnic tables and grills. Paddle out to the island and try the rope swing with one of our kayaks or canoes. Be sure to check out the bald eagles that live in the white pine tree just a little farther down the island. You will hear the loons during your stay and possibly see a mother with her babies on her back. There are also ducks and ducklings and geese with gosling paddling about the lake. The state stocks the lake with trout, splake, and salmon if you like to fish. There is plenty to do right here!

Take the left fork and really cool "boardwalk" to the dramatic Mountain Meadows Site, which leads to a small waterfall. Take the right fork to the exciting and magical "2 level," Streamside Overlook Site. To get to the HOBBITT HOLLOW SITE there are no steps but it's a longer walk, about 14 minutes. Hobbitts will never hurt you. Site 1- Streamside Overlook: This site for one or two people only! Once onto the small island, a one minute walk over rustic boardwalk trails takes you to a stone bridge over a small stream, to the Streamside Overlook site. Once across, you are greeted by a neat fire pit right AT THE STREAMS EDGE, with space for chairs next to the stream. Then a short, 20 foot trek up a hill leads to your tent site! The site dramatically looks down to the woodland stream, the fire pit and off to a salt marsh to the right. In back of you are huge cliffs, giant moss covered rocks and privacy. Every camper has told us they loved the genuine camping experience. The 10 tent sites are spread over many acres, in our beautiful coastal forest, only three miles to the ocean. You can hear the surf many nights. Each tent site is unique, with views, stream, fire pits, peacefulness, cliffs, mossy boulders, wildlife and more. For your comfort, we have spread a thick layer of soft pine needles over each tent area, which makes for an incredibly relaxing, comfortable sleep. All sites have marked trees to hang hammocks from for added enjoyment. At WildWalkWays, you are in the real Maine woods with trees, deer and nature all around you but you are not isolated. Rest assured, there are no poisonous snakes or crocodiles! You will wake to the fresh scents of the pine forest and aromatic bayberry in the air. I know that might sound corny but it's true. CREATURE COMFORTS There are quality, enclosed portable toilets a short walk from every site, with soft lighting near each one so you can find your way. They are cleaned and supplied daily. Each serves only 2 or 3 sites! Pine needled trails lead to these rest stations. They have lighting and a fan inside. Kinda cool and everyone loves them. EACH CAMPSITE has its own cold WATER faucet, right at the the tent site! A unique touch special to our sites. SAFETY Every occupied site has a few motion or solar lights to softly illuminate the area. In addition, the logging road used to access the sites has occasional solar or motion lights so you aren't totally in the dark, it is a very subtle effect. Up the road a bit, is famous SEWELL POND for lake swimming and kayaking. It's a very scenic area. There is also a public boat launch nearby where you can launch your kayak into a protected ocean inlet with amazing views. PLANT LOVERS Our property is also the home of our famous rare plant nursery, Eastern Plant Specialties, filled with amazing wildflowers, giant rhododendrons and native plants ...a botanical paradise if plants are your thing! The largest collection of gorgeous rhododendrons anywhere in Maine lives here. Trails thru the gardens abound. We offer a guided tour during rhodo bloom season, May thru July, which can be reserved when you book. Yes, you can buy plants. FOOD The Georgetown general store is only two miles away on route 127 ...a nice walk or bike ride and it has a good wine selection. Bath, Maine finally has a good pizza place: Brunos Wood Fired Pizza on Front St. (ask for well done, they don't cook it enough) Here in town, there is a seasonal farm stand, farther down 127 south, offering local foods, wines etc. Also in Georgetown, don't miss Five Islands Seafood: This is a famous place, rated as one of the finest for lobster, with great take out food on the wharf. It is at the very end of 127 south. Feast on the best lobsters, burgers, chowders, etc. with picnic tables to enjoy your meal and one of the most amazing views in Maine! Don't forget, here at WildWalkWays, each campsite has a fire pit, with grates available for your own barbeque. Also, we will have camping basics available, in case you forget: condiments, extra water, firewood, charcoal, paper towels, soap, etc SPECIAL BREADS On most Fridays and Saturdays we will have some special breads from one of the finest Maine bakeries. HISTORY The noted towns of Bath, Brunswick, Freeport and Wiscasset are only 12 to 25 minutes away. Bath is a scenic and easy town to stroll around in with shops, cafes and history. The Bath Maritime Museum is a cool place, fun for kids and adults. Next town over is Brunswick, a bit bigger, home to Bowdoin College and also a great walking town. Freeport is well known for shopping, home of L.L. Bean. Heading up the coast is Wiscasset, highly scenic, famous for Reds Eats, shopping and scenery. CENTRALLY LOCATED We are less than a days drive to so many Maine attractions. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are less than 3 hours away. The take off spots for wonderful Monhegan Island are just an hour away. Popham Fortess is a fascinating old stone fort, a half hour away. There's much more. AUTUMN COLOR Don't forget the famous Maine FALL FOLIAGE, this is a great place to see it -- peak fall foliage is Sept 20 thru Oct 15. It is private and have made several little upgrades to cabin including glass front wood stove, picnic table as examples but more. It is still like going back in time 100 years. Firewood and campfire wood provided. It is smallish on inside but can easily accommodate 5 people. Queen bed with bunk beds on 1st floor bedroom and full size bed and single in loft bedroom. Propane lights and cookstove...propane provided. Wood Stove for heat. Canoe available for use. Close to Moosehead Lake, and better, in my opinion, even closer, less traveled spots like Lake Onawa and ponds and streams nearby. Great place to truly escape. Cell service for most. I leave folder like a hotel almost, with directions to spots. Water at sink is provided and can be replenished nearby, if or when needed. Clean bed linens provided.

Lovedy's Land at Nubbin Corner.

Family owned property obtained through the barter system. You shingle my barn and I'll give you that property. My Pappy's land. 11 acres. Recently cleared for its timber. With some landscaping it became clear that beautiful campsites were forming. My father is 78 years old. The last thing he ever thought he would be doing with his retirement is jumping back on his excavator. Can't keep a good man down. Now here we are. Father and daughter. One day my children. 3 large tent sites and two camper sites. Future cabin and seasonal RV sites. A brook runs through the property but dries up after June. There is a small pond with rock stairs. Deer and turkey are frequently seen. Peace and serenity. This property does not offer complete seclusion. You will see other campers if all 3 sites are occupied. There is spacious distance. What this location offers is that it is centrally located to mountains, oceans, lakes,concert venues, restaurants, nightlife, shopping and antiquing. Traveling to NH and Massachusetts is a day trip. A few hours and your in central Maine. Cross the border into Canada. So much to explore or just relax. Stay a few nights or stay the season. 2023 is off to a great camping season. Already meeting new campers. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces from 2022. A few upgrades. There is an outside water faucet, an outlet and an outside shower...hot and a privacy fence. There is a bathroom/shed that contains a bucket compost toilet. A compost bag and shavings/leaves/moss provided. The tent sites are off grid with a few conveniences. Please view my camper rental if you are seeking another experience. Goats are coming. Yes goats. Not until fall though. The frog pond population continues to grow. A neighboring town is finding 3 legged frogs in their ponds. Apparently caused by a parasite. Let me know if you find any.

Green Sangha is located on 11 acres, surround by hundreds of acres of protected tree farm land. Shinglemens Creek meanders through out the property creating a sweet song for you to enjoy. The property is hilly which offers more privacy for guest to be nestled into their private campsites. There is a communal area for washing dishing, portable water and out house. Each campsite has its own fire pit for cooking or you may share the communal kitchen area. Bowdoinham is small town. The property is a couple miles from the downtown area which has one bar-restaurant, grocery and gas. Bowdoinham is one of the best organic food producers in the state and you has access to 10 different local farms. The Cathance River has a public boat dock if your bringing a boat or kayaks/ canoes. I do have Kayaks and canoes for rent as well. The property also has a wood fired sauna with hit water or an outdoor shower for an additional fee.

An escape from the electronic world, the cabin has solar and battery lights but no power generator. (See Winter Conditions below) The space This is a cozy place with led lights & solar lights, candles, a gas cook range, gas refrigerator, wood stove, a dug well with hand-pump in the kitchen (pump can not be used when the temperature is below freezing) and a log cabin outhouse. Everything is here: 1 set of twin bunk beds and 1 queen size futon couch in the great room and a king bed in the bunk room. Fully outfitted with dishes, utensils, pots,/pans, linens/blankets/pillows, books, games, oil lanterns, camp/bag shower and more. There is a pantry cabinet full of food and spices. Firewood is included in the rental price. Propane, paper towels, toilet paper and dish soap are also provided. Guest access The whole property is at your disposal. All Wheel Drive or 4WD is needed to access the cabin in winter and mud season. I will leave a couple of gallons to get you started! -Really big storms can cause reservations to sometimes be rescheduled but I always honor date changes or refunds due to storms. -Extreme Cold Weather: When temperatures fall to 15 degrees or below, we recommend that you use the propane heater in the bunk room along with the woodstove in the great room. It will be necessary for you to feed the wood stove every couple of hours. -Attention Snowmobilers: You may have to unload your snowmobiles at the bottom of the hill to get your trucks up the hill with trailers hitched. You could also leave your trailers at the bottom of the hill in a plowed out parking area. Ride the snowmobiles up separately. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: Off the grid = NO ELECTRICITY! Amenities include bag shower, outhouse, gas range, woodstove, battery-operated LED lights, solar lights, candles, gas grill. No Shooting or target practice is allowed. Phone: Reliable cell phone service is 1 mile down the mountain in the spring and summer. Spotty service is available at the cabin during winter. Hydration: You MUST bring your own drinking water to be absolutely safe. The dug well is fed by springs and runoff. Dug wells can be contaminated by heavy rains, and wildlife. Drinking the well water is at your own risk. Bugs: This is mosquito and tick country. Use bug spray and do tick checks twice a day during spring, summer and fall. Pets: Dogs are welcome. PLEASE do not leave dogs unattended and alone in the cabin. Please toss poop into the woods. Smoking: Cigarette smoking is allowed OUTSIDE the cabin. Cannabis smoking is allowed inside the cabin. Trash: It would be appreciated if you took your own trash, but if that is not possible, you may leave all of your food garbage and trash in the cabin at check-out and we will dispose of it for you. We request that food garbage or food scraps are NEVER left outside. Wildlife: Please do not feed the bears or any other wildlife, including birds, squirrels, fox, deer, coyote or anything you may see here at Ridgeview Cabin. Feeding wildlife results in a negative impact on the lives and environment of the animals, including possible death or extermination of the animals, and presents a potential risk to your safety. Feeding animals means intentionally leaving food out for them, or even simply leaving a bag of garbage outside where animals can get into it. This means that taking care of your food garbage is extremely important. You are welcome to use the garbage bags found in the cabin. If you must remove food garbage from the cabin, please store it in your vehicle until check-out. Never store trash or food scraps outside. Keep it down for the locals: There are year round residents uphill and downhill of the cabin within half a mile. Please be respectful of their quality of life and refrain from long sessions of target practice, aggressive snowmobile/4-wheeler riding around the cabin/up and down the road, yelling and loud music after 8PM and before 8AM.

Sunflower Ranch Camping

Sunflower Ranch is the name of our home and property. Not only is our cozy, modest house sunflower yellow but in August it is surrounded with sunflowers of all sizes. We share our property with a flock of sweet hens and ducks.....and a few bossy roosters. Eggs are available for purchase if needed. There is a little greenhouse with herbs, greens and strawberries. The field is also an apple orchard that mostly feeds the wildlife. The tent site is privately placed in our cove unseen from the house. We wanted to offer a site that we would enjoy as well and feels like it is in a world of its own. We spend all of our free time outside, camping and paddling the local rivers and lakes. Tommy and I can recommend many beautiful remote Maine adventures for you to experience that are located off the grid and away from all other humans. The sweet city of Ellsworth is only 7 miles away for all of your provisions and Otis General Store is 1 mile away.. they have everything to get you through plus beer, wine, ice and homemade pizza. We can give you a pass to visit the Beech Hill Pond Beach also only 1 mile away (I walk there all the time) which has clear water and a sandy bottom. Great spot to spend the day sunbathing and swimming. I can offer yoga, personal training, boxing and paddleboard lessons or SUP yoga for some onsite physical fitness fun upon request. Learn more about this land: 16 by 12 ft A-Frame on a platform overlooking our private cove on Graham Lake. Walk through the forest trail to the Beech Hill Pond Stream and find a private little swim spot under a mini waterfall . Great fishing, loon watching, eagles and herons. Enjoy paddling and exploring right from your tent site. Bird watching bliss! Very peaceful and quiet. Canoe or 2 kayaks included.

The Sandy River is a free-flowing river that begins in the mountains of Western Maine and meanders through our college town of Farmington where you can enjoy specialty shops and get a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants. We are about a 45 minute drive to Smalls Fall near the beginning of the Sandy River and has a series of five drops ( waterfalls) through a narrow gorge that challenge extreme kayakers. It's truly a sight to see .No worries if you're not into extreme kayaking you can drop a tube in the river near you campsite for a lazy day float down stream. Just a little FYI you may want to keep an eye out.....there's gold in them there rivers.
