We purchased this land a few years ago when our neighbors decided to sell. It abuts our property They used it as a place for their family to gather and camp on during Maine wonderful summer season. It is a beautiful, quiet spot with a great view and a small pond. Hipcamp lets us share this spot and helps pay our property taxes.We are located in the western mountains of Maine in a summer community on Porter Lake. There is a beautiful view of New Vineyard mountain from our 3 acre field. We have 2 trailer sites with power and water (non potable) and an out house. The field has several fire pits and soft grassy spaces for pitching tents. The camping area is fairly private from our neighbors along the road. The site has a small private pond surrounded by trees you can sit and relax near. You can (walk/bike/drive) the 1/4 mile down the dirt road to the public beach. The beach has a public dock, boat ramp, swim float, picnic tables and grills. Paddle out to the island and try the rope swing with one of our kayaks or canoes. Be sure to check out the bald eagles that live in the white pine tree just a little farther down the island. You will hear the loons during your stay and possibly see a mother with her babies on her back. There are also ducks and ducklings and geese with gosling paddling about the lake. The state stocks the lake with trout, splake, and salmon if you like to fish. There is plenty to do right here!

We took over this section of the land to create our own farm several years ago. We raise beef, pork, chicken, and goats to sell. We also have several horses on the farm. The camping spot has been used by our family for years hosting “back forty” parties and weekend getaways. The pond was dug by my grandfather over 40 years ago for irrigation. It is no longer used for that and has become a wonderful frog pond that is stocked with trout. If you are looking for a place to camp that is remote, quiet, well maintained and has some of the most picturesque views from your campsite and beyond, look no further than Orange Gate Sites! They offer anything that you are looking for in outdoor accommodations. From a spacious RV site, (or in our case, a full size school bus) to a tent site for the more adventurous, to a cozy cabin with many amenities to make your stay more comfortable. Orange Gate Sites is clean, has ready to burn firewood, sturdy fire pits that you can even cook your meals on, and clean outdoor toilets. What a gorgeous site this is! Choose between two awesome cabins or campsites. You cannot go wrong with any of them. Dale Cabin is well equipped with a stocked kitchen, desk, stove, and bed. I really loved having a fire by the water. My dog loved the trip too!

Weekend Trip to 🌲 40 Acres Of Riverfront Serenity

We loved camping here, made a reservation for another week end while we were still there. It’s right in the river with just little bit of woods in between. Gorgeous and dogs off leash, best week end they’ve had in a while. Very quiet having the place all to ourselves was heaven.

Weekend Trip to Back Forty Camping at its best

Amazing spot! This was one of our best Hipcamp experiences. Quiet, private spot with amazing sunrise views. Cory was very communicative and gave great directions. The site is located back from the road and working farm so you feel remote. There are tons of amenities in the area, and it was a great place to explore Moosehead and the Belgrade areas. We can’t wait to return.

Stayed here wednesday through saturday before columbus day. The place was great.The staff was even greater loved camping there. This was our first time, but it won't be our last.And we will be bringing friends.

Awesome spot! Cheri was an excellent host and the spot is ~100ft from a creek. Pro tip: if you want to get to the main river faster, walk to the back of the meadow and down the embankment along the water. Much easier if the water is low.

Weekend Trip to 🌲 40 Acres Of Riverfront Serenity

We loved camping with our little Tab camper at Kyle's slice of heaven! Tons of room, lots to explore - simply fan-freakin-tastic! My only suggestion would be to extend check-out time by an hour or two. Packing up and leaving by 10 really leaves very little chance to enjoy this special spot on the last day. Leaving was painful...and only made better by booking another weekend as soon as I got home! Selfish me doesn't want to leave this review, so I have less competition for booking. Thank you, Kyle, for sharing this beautiful spot with us nature lovers! 😊

Weekend Trip to Howling Goat Farm and Grange

A rendezvous with the cosmos was the theme this year. We ran, dashed, sacrificed and stressed to make eyes for Cygnus across celestial clouds ISS flyovers and planets penetrating the atmosphere. Ursas major and minor foraged amongst the fireflies while we all shifted from Pisces to Aquarius over and over again. The fowl are a feature, the ruminations left to the cloven and the swine a smile every time. A fair time was not had in any sense this time. Our budget denied us Common Ground, but our accommodations were AAA. After a day in Stephen King country, I’ll leave the speculation of what beast was snorting in the field the following morning to you.

Weekend Trip to Maine Christmas Tree Farm

my husband and i camped at the christmas tree farm for 2 nights while going to the common ground fair. it was convenient to be so close, and we had a lot of privacy and space. we enjoyed cooking breakfast and dinner on our little stove top at the picnic table on top of this hill with a beautiful view of the fields and mountains. the sunrises and sunsets were absolutely divine and we slept under a bright blanket of stars! jesse was incredibly accommodating and helpful, while also giving us space to relax and enjoy our stay. our only challenge was finding a flat place to camp, but by the second night we found a spot that suited us well. i'd recommend arriving before nightfall to pick out an ideal flat camping spot if you're tent camping. cheers!
