1 night at Barefoot Retreat

My stay was just a quick sleep and depart, but for the few hours I was there, I felt safe and my dogs had plenty of room to run around in. Although it was dark, it seemed very clean and peaceful. Would definitely stay again if given the opportunity.

1 night at Sheepy Acres

Very hospitable and kind hosts. Titus went out of the way to make sure our stay was comfortable. My kids enjoyed playing with the kittens and watching the chickens and sheep. We couldn’t stay very long but we would love to come back and swim in the pond next trip.

Weekend Trip to Sheepy Acres

Host was very pleasant, informative and flexible. We enjoyed both cabins, the pond and slide. Main bed very comfortable, others sufficient for kids. Sheep were cool to see, do know that cellphone reception is limited out there albeit better to just unplug anyways, great time

Weekend Trip to Sheepy Acres

Really unique spot! Easy to find with Hipcamp directions. Titus was super welcoming. He met us at the barn, gave a quick tour, and led us to the site by golf cart. Hawk Roost was private, shaded, and clean. The tent pad barely fit our large tent but worked fine. We loved the wood chips around camp to keep it dry. Bathrooms were clean, potable water was about 100 yards away, and firewood was generously provided. He even delivered more during our stay when we needed it. It is a working pasture with sheep, so expect some strong smells and poop throughout the trails and camp roads. It didn’t bother us, but it’s worth noting. Our dog had the time of her life running around off-leash in the fenced-in pasture and having stare-downs with the sheep. There was some distant noise like sirens and machinery, but otherwise it was peaceful and full of birdsong. We would absolutely come back, especially with a group. It’s a great mix of rustic and thoughtful.

1 night at Orchard/Cidery/Meadery on 12 acres!

Lovely little gem. Edison was very helpful in getting settled in and easy to work with. He even offered to let us stay closer to the building if the weather got bad. Only thing that would make this a nicer spot might be pathing stones and lights from the camp spot to the ciderhouse for bio-runs at night. There is a bit of road noise, but it does make it easier to get to places around town. The chickens were adorable. And the cider and meads were yummy! Bathroom was very clean. Would stay again if in the area.

1 night at Songdog Meadows

This was our second stay at Song Fog Meadow and we loved it as much as the first. Easy to book, easy to find, convenient to several major highways, and this lovely spot is near the end of a dead end country road so it feels very private. It’s likely we’ll be back on another of our long haul camper journeys.

Weekend Trip to Songdog Meadows

This place was wonderful. You have the option to choose from 2 camp sites when you arrive, one located on a little island, the other is further up the hill in the back. We chose the hill in the back because it had been raining and figured the island would be too wet. I love that it was only us. Very private and plenty of space. Will definitely come back during the summer when the trees have bloomed a bit more and try out the island campsite for some fishing and relaxation.

Weekend Trip to Mirror Lake Bunkhouse llc

We had such a great stay at Kathy’s cabin “old Phil”. There are plenty of clear trails to walk on and fishing off the pier was great. Even with the bit of rain we got our first night it didn’t put a damper on the trip. We definitely look forward to returning in the future!

1 night at River Camp Fort Wayne

River camp is a wild, natural area just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Fort Wayne. It's amazing how remote it feels. Marla is a great host, and has kept the natural feel while having every convenience you would want while camping. I sat down on the river watching geese with goslings, and a Bald Eagle that was hunting for a relaxing evening.

This place was awesome. I can’t even say enough good things about it. The hosts are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. They make sure you’re comfortable and keep you informed on anything going on around there. Made sure the fires were going when we got there and everything was really clean. Not one complaint. It is my ideal outdoors spot and I will be keeping this information for the future and to share with others. They set the bar high I don’t see any others being like this. 10/10

Weekend Trip to Songdog Meadows

Hosts gave us privacy but we're very kind when approached for help after we discovered that we ran over a screw on the highway, causing a flat tire. The location is nice and quiet with surprising amount of wildlife (birds, frogs, foxes). Pond wraps around the campsite which is very cool. We camped in the rain so there were some large puddles on the path to the lower campsite but nothing that we couldn't work around. Overall, great experience!

We had such a great time camping and using their little cabin that has just about everything you would need to camp! Not only has a queen bed but also a twin bed for your kid's our two boys fit in it( 6 and 9 years old). My personal favorite is they think of all the stuff for your family to be comfortable! Their property is beautiful and my kids love playing in the river!!

The cabin is amazing. They have added a driveway to the cabin with a parking spot next to it. It is spacious, with a wood burning stove, electric, and water. There is a tv, dvd player, queen bed, twin bed, and a futon couch. The best part is the hosts are amazing.

I had the absolute best experience staying here. Josh was a wonderful host, and incredibly kind and helpful. He is an absolute Michigan Treasure of a human being. I showed up with an incomplete hammock and Josh kindly lent me his so I could enjoy my sleep. His kindness made my experience so much more enjoyable than sleeping on the ground (which was wet). The property is stunning. Lots of space to roam and explore. I will be returning often.

There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There is a porta potty near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. Good stargazing area at night! Across the street there is a county park, Riverbend Park, it is well maintained. Has a volleyball net, cornhole boards, horseshoe set-up, play-sets, pavilion and grills. This park also has access to the Coldwater River for even more fishing spots. Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana. Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish. The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

The Mirror lake property has been a family farm for over 185 years. There is a family cemetery that dates to 1832. If you want to be around a lot of people in the fast track this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, tranquil, social distance but still enjoyed this is the place for you!

We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

We are currently seeking a dedicated couple or two-person team to join us for the 2025 season, running from April 12, 2025, to October 11, 2025. As part of your responsibilities, you will maintain the cleanliness of four bathhouses three times a week, ensuring a pleasant experience for all our guests. Daily tasks will also include opening and closing the pool, cleaning the pool and surrounding area, and managing pool chemicals to keep the water sparkling and safe. Your work schedule will alternate weekly, allowing for a balanced routine with one week on and one week off. In addition to these duties, you will assist with general cleanup around the campground as needed, contributing to the overall upkeep of our beautiful outdoor space.
