Weekend Trip to Phoenix Rising Ranch

Overall really great experience. Lots of rules and its really close to the owners house but peaceful and serene.

OMG—I don’t even know where to start! The site was INCREDIBLE, the host was AMAZING, and the amenities were ABOVE AND BEYOND. The entire trip was unforgettable, and the host’s care and attention never stopped. You can tell they have so much knowledge and love for the land—you can’t help but fall in love with it too. The sound of the rushing river below was peaceful and constant, and the trails were well-kept and ready for adventure. We brought a bow and some targets and spent hours shooting at a mountainside, listening to birds and watching wild turkeys cross the hills. It’s truly a beautiful area with stunning spots. Could not recommend this place enough! :)

Weekend Trip to SPOKANE CAMPING In The Forest

We loved our time at Jane’s place. We had both site #1 and #2 booked for our large group and they were both fantastic. Between the two sites, there are a total of two wooden platforms for tents, a large tipi that 4 of us comfortably slept in (although it could probably fit up to 5-6 people), and we found one or two additional flat areas that were adequate for setting up tents. Do note, the entire property is on a slight hill, and Jane has beautifully created level areas for fires, picnic tables, etc, but there are only a couple additional “natural” flat areas. The “far-out house” was awesome; very clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Also note, the tipi is not 100% bug proof and the hole in the canvas at the top where all the wooden poles come together does allow rain in. We stayed in the tipi multiple nights and had absolutely no problem though. We only noticed mosquitos at our campsite (not inside the tipi) for about an hour or so one evening, besides that the entire area was pretty bug-less, as we had a gentle breeze up on the hill most of the time. A few of us had intermittent, unstable, low-bar signal on our phones up at the tipi site. It’s about a 5-10 min drive out onto a main road for cell service and amenities (convenience stores, etc). Jane was communicative and accommodating. She graciously helped us transport a few large, heavy loads of our camping equipment in her golf cart. We would definitely stay at Jane’s place again in future!

Weekend Trip to Maverick Mountain Home

This is a beautiful place and perfect for us with our dog. It was awesome that we could ride from their property to miles of close trails. They were so welcoming and hospitable. I will be marking this spot as one of our favorites!

Weekend Trip to SPOKANE CAMPING In The Forest

Absolutely loved this spot! Jane and her husband were so accommodating and sweet :) their land they have is beautiful and they’ve really made the most of the camp sites they’ve created. The campsite we stayed in came with 1 bundle complimentary wood and fire starters, sticks to roast marshmallows, a cute bench fixed with blankets for cushion, chairs, and best of all, FILTERED WATER spout right at our site. Definitely one of the top places i’ve stayed on hipcamp. This area felt so safe as well, i’d even consider coming back and camping alone! (im 23F) They had such cool things to walk around and look at too. The outhouse they built with a shower/toilet/sink was very nice! Highly recommend!

SPRING/SUMMER/FALL: Spend the afternoon at the Trestle Creek Recreation Area on the eastern shore of Lake Pend Oreille, only two miles down the road (just off Highway 200), where you can launch your boat, swim at the beach, or paddle along the shore in your kayak or SUP. Or, take an adventurous backcountry drive up Trestle Creek Road into the mountains of the Kaniksu National Forest where you can check out Lunch Peak Lookout, hike miles of pristine trails to one of the three nearby mountain lakes, explore several waterfalls, or drive the entire 35 mile backcountry loop down to the town of Clark Fork. If quiet rest is what you seek, stay here and find a secluded spot next to one of the creeks where you can hang a hammock and listen for that still small voice. Or read a book until the peaceful whispers of flowing water and breeze through the trees lulls you to sleep. WINTER: Bring your snow machines and take advantage of sled in/sled out access from your campsite to the Trestle Creek loop system, boasting spectacular backcountry terrain with 50+ miles of groomed trails and hundreds of thousands of off-trail acres to explore! On-site trailer parking adjacent to the road is available. If skiing is your thing, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort is an easy (and gorgeous) 45 minute commute. Don't tell anyone, but Schweitzer Mountain is an absolute gem of a ski resort with 2,900 acres of gorgeous skiing terrain (and epic views) for all ages and skill levels. Our family spends a good bit of time skiing here. Winter Driveway Access: a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle is required to climb our driveway during winter conditions. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. We named it Maverick Mountain Home, which captures our love of the wilderness, our mission to care for the lost, and our desire to be unbranded by the world. Upon landing here we immediately got to work preparing. We've spent the last five years working on hundreds of different projects, including: rehabilitating our driveway, beginning a long-term whole-house remodel, building a chicken coop, maintaining our driveway, fencing in a new orchard, chicken yard, and pig yard, planting trees, replacing a spring house, maintaining our driveway, installing underground infrastructure for future guest facilities, clearing trails, milling lumber, and maintaining our driveway. In 2024 we dedicated a good portion of April and May to preparing our first HipCamp site, Living Water, which went live on our wedding anniversary at the end of May. We added our second site, Boondock Butte in July with plans for several more sites in coming years. Since the first booking on our opening weekend we've watched as that line from "Field of Dreams" came true in our "backyard" - we built it and they started coming. There are 3 rental spots that are all creek side and next to each other. There are also many trails and adventures within a 15 min drive of the property. We have a few dogs that live on property and like to come say hi to the campers and play fetch. We don't have a view of the river but it's nearby and our meadows and mountains offer a peaceful scene all its own. Camp surrounded by Old Growth Cedars and towering Grand Fir, stargaze by night, enjoy a campfire, smores and time with your family, Our peace includes little to no cellular or wifi service. We still depend on our landline phone and don't offer internet or satellite tv. Feels like we're in the country but we live on a paved county road and only 4 miles from the city of Priest River. Bring your boat for a trip on the Pend Oreille River to Lake Pend Oreille. Launching is a short distance away at the Mud Hole, Priest River City Beach or Riley Creek Campground. Try your hand at fishing for bass, kokanee, perch, northern pike, and trout in the river or on the lake. Wake up in a peaceful woodsy setting where elk, deer, the occasional moose and turkeys roam the property and are often seen in the meadow. Load up your ATV, side by side or motorcycle and head for Priest Lake right from here. It’s a 21 mile (40 minute ride) to Coolin, ID. Enjoy the back county and take some of the IDL roads along the way to explore scenic drainages and in July/August pick some luscious huckleberries (the state fruit of Idaho) for a pancake or milkshake treat. In the fall, a nice central location for hunting camp. Want to go skiing or enjoy the summer lift ride? Head up to Schweitzer Mountain, about an hour drive away (38 miles/65 mins). The city of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille (Idaho's largest lake) are a half hour away (26 miles/33 mins) and Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, ID less than an hour away (36 miles/52 min).

This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is off-grid with an option to plugin if needed. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

Historically, Deep Creek Canyon was a winter encampment for the Spokane Indians, whose ancestral lands surround us. We feel the healing spirit of the land, in partnership and stewardship. We gather community for Solstice & Equinox celebrations, bringing people together to honor the changing seasons. Our original house was one of the first in the canyon, in the early 1940's. Wake up to picturesque views of the beautiful Spokane river and Rathdrum mountains, while staying only 15 minutes from both downtown Coeur D Alene and Post Falls. Our secondary lot offers a scenic plot, removed from town but within easy driving distance of local activities and restaurants. You will park next to our shop, which offers privacy from the road, but please take note of its placement in our photos to ensure that will work for your stay. The main property and home are next door, and we are easily reachable if you need anything during your visit. We offer year round electrical hook-ups, and fresh water in Spring, Summer and Fall (the pipes are winterized from approximately the end of October-March, depending on the snow season). While there is only 1 electrical hook-up, there is space for an additional vehicle, and options for parking locations if electrical is not required. During your stay, keep an eye out for our neighborhood moose family, our year-round bald eagles, and our many deer, quail, and turkey friends. Winter camping is available, but please note that we can receive large amounts of snow. Please reach out with any questions! Riverfront Base Camp

Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River. Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you. At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep. The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts. You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness. There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire. You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course). There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run. Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. Be advised the highway and river are hazardous for off-leash animals and rambunctious toddlers. Please send a message if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

Someone once told me that you can measure the distance from town in steps rather than miles because it gets remote so quickly and that's entirely true here! Being a 10 minute drive outside of town makes this property feel remote but be close enough to town to grab essentials. The 6 acres include forested areas, meadow areas, and borders on a creek on the southwest side of the property. The property is shared by the Woodland Fairy Cottage and the Creekside Lodge (an Airbnb property).

The property is located a few miles from the lake.

Very quiet at night, minimal cars going by during the day.
