Weekend Trip to Maverick Mountain Home

If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. The site was large and much easier to get into and out of than we expected (the "hairpin" turn was much less intense than we thought it might be with our 20 ft trailer). There are no hookups, but the provided spring water was delicious and the nearby porta potty was one of the cleanest I've ever been in. We had a wonderful time at this site and will definitely return.

I loved the layout and privacy (I had tent site 1). Close to gas stations and the interstate but not close enough to hear the cars. The bathrooms were immaculate. Farm animals, toys, and a playground for kids. The stars were amazing. I will definitely return if I'm ever in the area again.

Weekend Trip to Waterfront RV camping brownlee

AMAZING place to stay! Best campsite we have ever gone to. Great place for swimming, fishing, and rock hunting. Beautiful rocks there. It has a HUGE private beach, and a boat launch for smaller size boats. Friday night and we heard a sound and thought a cow got out from nearby. Turned out 2 mule deer, a doe and fawn, came down to eat and drink at our campsite about 10 yards away from us as we sat around talking by the fire pit. They weren't scared of us at all and stayed probably 20-30 minutes. Then 5 wild turkeys came down the next morning and sat on the beach for 3 hours. We saw numerous big hawks, a golden eagle, and several ducks. Truly a magical experience. Danny our host is an incredible, fun, kind, informative host. We are going to book it again as soon as it gets warmer and take our 2 grandchildren. We have for dachshunds and they loved being outside under the shade trees all day long by where we parked the camper. You have a lot of space where you park your camper, There is a grill to set over a fire pit. It saved us because our camper batteries died and we had no electricity all weekend, our generator has to have enough battery power to start the generator to run the gas line so we couldn't use our gas grill. Can't wait to go again, this time with new batteries!🤣🤣🤣

Riverfront Base Camp

Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River. Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you. At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep. The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts. You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness. There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire. You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course). There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run. Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. If you are looking for an area that is out of town, THIS IS IT!! We also have overnight stalls available for horses. Please make sure RV tanks are empty in order to hook up to septic. No RV dump station on site. With the river location, we get very windy conditions along the river corridor. Awnings can easily become damaged during these conditions. Please take notice and consider putting awnings away so that they don't get damaged. Along the same lines, please don't have campfires if the winds are high. Make sure your dogs are on a leash. We have mules on the property that DO NOT like dogs. This is for the safety of your dog. No fireworks on the premises. We do have a couple small trash cans that get dumped on Thursdays...that being said....we are NOT a dump. If trash cans are full or you have large items, please haul your trash to Lemhi County Landfill. They are open Monday-Friday: 7am-5:15pm and have dumpsters open on the weekend.

All 4 spots are dry camping. No power or water currently. we have a spot to launch boats which is right between sight 3 and 4. Good fishing. Very little boat traffic. Very private. In the fall big horn sheep frequently rut on the property. We usually have fresh eggs on hand. Dry climate. Sage brush and juniper trees here. We have a easy to access spot to fill up water to your camp trailers or rvs. The water is from a spring and Water tastes really good. This area has a lot of history. Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe often stayed in this area and on the property. In fact this was where his tribe met to discuss and decide to try to go to escape to Canada. This is where that journey started. You can still find arrow heads on the shoreline every so often. I’m ruffly 15 miles north of Huntington oregon. 13 miles of which is dirt road. The property sits at the base of lookout mountain. Really good cell service here with Verizon Full bars. If you decide to come camp make sure your directions take you through Huntington. Google sometimes likes to try to get people to drive over the mountain. Or if your coming from the north it sometimes wants you to go through Richland and then on 34 miles of dirt road. Going Through Huntington onto snake river rd is the easy way to go.

Maverick Mountain Home

Maverick Mountain Home is perched on a mountainside several hundred feet above picturesque Trestle Creek, a protected Kokanee Salmon and Bull Trout spawning habitat, two short but gorgeous miles up the road from Lake Pend Oreille. Our property is hidden within an epic cedar, fir and pine forest, bracketed by the Kaniksu National Forest to the east and conservation land to the west. SPRING/SUMMER/FALL: Spend the afternoon at the Trestle Creek Recreation Area on the eastern shore of Lake Pend Oreille, only two miles down the road (just off Highway 200), where you can launch your boat, swim at the beach, or paddle along the shore in your kayak or SUP. Or, take an adventurous backcountry drive up Trestle Creek Road into the mountains of the Kaniksu National Forest where you can check out Lunch Peak Lookout, hike miles of pristine trails to one of the three nearby mountain lakes, explore several waterfalls, or drive the entire 35 mile backcountry loop down to the town of Clark Fork. If quiet rest is what you seek, stay here and find a secluded spot next to one of the creeks where you can hang a hammock and listen for that still small voice. Or read a book until the peaceful whispers of flowing water and breeze through the trees lulls you to sleep. You'll be in for a special treat if you book your site during the annual Kokanee Salmon spawning season! The salmon run usually starts during the last week in August or first week in September and lasts through late September. There are a multitude of viewing locations along Trestle Creek to witness this yearly miracle and snap some amazing photos! WINTER: Bring your snow machines and take advantage of sled in/sled out access from your campsite to the Trestle Creek loop system, boasting spectacular backcountry terrain with 50+ miles of groomed trails and hundreds of thousands of off-trail acres to explore! On-site trailer parking adjacent to the road is available. If skiing is your thing, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort is an easy (and gorgeous) 45 minute commute. Don't tell anyone, but Schweitzer Mountain is an absolute gem of a ski resort with 2,900 acres of gorgeous skiing terrain (and epic views) for all ages and skill levels. Our family spends a good bit of time skiing here. Winter Driveway Access: a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle is required to climb our driveway during winter conditions. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. We named it Maverick Mountain Home, which captures our love of the wilderness, our mission to care for the lost, and our desire to be unbranded by the world. Upon landing here we immediately got to work preparing. We've spent the last five years working on hundreds of different projects, including: rehabilitating our driveway, beginning a long-term whole-house remodel, building a chicken coop, maintaining our driveway, fencing in a new orchard, chicken yard, and pig yard, planting trees, replacing a spring house, maintaining our driveway, installing underground infrastructure for future guest facilities, clearing trails, milling lumber, and maintaining our driveway. In 2024 we dedicated a good portion of April and May to preparing our first HipCamp site, Living Water, which went live on our wedding anniversary at the end of May. We added our second site, Boondock Butte in July with plans for several more sites in coming years. Since the first booking on our opening weekend we've watched as that line from "Field of Dreams" came true in our "backyard" - we built it and they started coming. The lavender and flower field is just a short walk away! (Available June through October) Enjoy s'mores by the fire while you watch the sun set over the beauitful rolling hills, relax on the turf grassed area in the hammock, or lie around in the comfy queen bed all day! (Two twin beds are also available inside the tipi upon request.) Each tipi is equipped with everything you need to make your experience enjoyable and memorable including chairs, roasting sticks, wood, a bbq and supplies, extra blankets, lantern, fan, heater, bottled water, eating utensils, a handwashing area, and a portable restroom nearby. Please note that there is no electricity or running water. We offer many add-on packages with the Tipi stays, including a Sweethearts Package, S'mores Package, U-pick Flower Experience, and even a Movie Night Package! (Depending on Availability) PLEASE remember the tipi is subject to temps. Please be prepared for the tipi to be colder inside on cooler nights or warm inside on hotter days. Lots of birds and wildlife are around (owls, hawks, hummingbirds, deer, endless quail and rabbits, the occasional coyote or fox) and with easy access to the town and I-84 for exploring. Picnic table and horseshoe pit located at site. We are just a few minutes drive from town where there is a grocery store, several bars, Six Creeks Mercantile where you can grab a great cup of coffee, a golf course, Y-Knot winery, and fishing on the Snake River. This is a great location for exploration of the area, birding, fishing, or hunting up near Bennett Mountain. Only 20 min drive from Bruneau Sand Dunes. We are also very conveniently located off of I-84 for road-trippers passing through. LGBTQIA+ friendly, Pet friendly. We are a tent and car camping only site as we do not have facilities for a trailer and we the pasture is on a slight slope so will not be able to find a level spot for a larger trailer. Small travel trailers will be allowed, but do note there are no power hookups. We have firewood available and will try to have a small supply at the firepit, but if you would like extra or want to guarantee some available please add it on. You may be greeted by horses, cattle or dogs on our property, and it's quite possible that you will encounter snakes 🐍 and hear coyotes at night (light sleepers take this into account). We do not have designated areas, please park wherever you desire, walk your route as this virgin ground has many rocks. 🪨 If leveling is an issue & you need to block the road, let’s verify we have no other campers coming. There is a runoff river that runs through the property in the early spring but, rarely has water, however, it has amazing lava rock (similar to Black Magic Canyon which isn’t far away); We also like to use it for campfires! Do not drive into the river bottom unless you have 4WD. Please reach out with questions and we look forward to your visit! Check out all of our extras! We raise Wagyu beef, make sourdough bread, have dozens of eggs on hand from a local chicken farmer and I make tallow lotion! Ross Meadow RV

The Shoshone and Nez Perce Native American tribes spent their summers in this area hunting and fishing the many streams in this valley. Trapper's used the area until the U.S. market collapse of the beaver skin top-hat in the late 1830's. Mormon pioneers began settling here in the 1890's. My great-grandparents settled in Teton Valley after moving from Nebraska in 1917. They farmed this land; growing potatoes, barley and hay. Today we raise alfalfa/grass hay that we feed to our horses. In the bottom of our field south of the campsite is Trail Creek, which is the headwaters of the Teton River. It flows out of the southern Teton mountain range in Wyoming and into Idaho. This water eventually joins the mighty Snake River near Rexburg, Idaho as it continues it's journey to the pacific ocean. Summer's here are usually warm sunny days with cool, chilly nights. Our location sits at an elevation of 6,300' above sea level.Learn more about this land:Located 1 mile from Victor, Idaho along the Old Jackson Highway. Nice view of the southern Teton Range.
