We knew our property was a special place when we found it during our search when we decided to move our alpaca farm from FL to GA. We have raised alpaca for last 17 years. They are a fiber producing animal (similar to sheep) as well as just a beautiful animal, have great personalities and it is amazing to watch the herd dynamics. We have 2 very spoiled donkeys (sister and brother-gelded) - have had them for about 18 years. We are committed to provide the best care possible for our animals and love to educate people about alpacas (and donkeys). There is a large covered deck overlooking the alpaca pastures - come hang out with them. There is a 2 acre pond on our property which is adjacent to the campsite area separated by a fence. The campsite area is located away from our main house and the alpaca barn. My cousin loved to fish and purchased 100 acres of land here 50 years ago. I wound up with this part of the property which is now surrounded by Big Hammock wildlife management area. For the past 47 years I’ve gone here to enjoy the river. The Ohoopee river splits here on the opposite bank and forms a 100 acre island before flowing into the nearby Altamaha river. Usually the river flow slows and kayaking around the island is pretty easy. There is a lot of wildlife to see here with white tail deer, turkey, waterfowl, beavers, otters, feral hogs and predators. The island is a favorite roost for every species of birds. During dry periods, the Ohoopee river water gets very clear with visibility greater than 6’ at times.

We arrived late and luckily we keep communicating with Catherine to find her place, she was waiting for us and greeted us, we felt special and at home . The place had plenty of room for our 37 ft fifth wheel and long bed truck . We will definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a safe and comfortable spot .. 5 star ⭐️

Tent camping was a great time. It was nice getting to be around all the animals! The cats and dogs were lovely enough to visit us frequently during our trip. My only suggestion would be to maybe add some signs with numbers for the sites and a sign for the bathroom. But everything else was great! Sean was very responsive with any questions we had.

That place is in a beautiful and remote area, far from highways, close to water (swimmin possible). Hosts (Dana and her husband) are very nice and welcoming people, trying to please guests to their best. I used firepit to prepare my dinner and observe sky as there is a lot of open unobstructed area.

I enjoyed my overnight stay by the lake. The next morning I learned so much about alpacas and llamas. The farm is gated and locked. Even though it was after dark when I arrived, their hospitality was in full display. I also bought some super soft hiking socks, and bought a scarf and a pair of gloves for my friends at the farm store. I'll be staying here again!

Though I wasn’t able to meet Catherine in person, she was always available and very personable. The property is historic, and charming, with the biggest oak trees I’ve ever seen! We were provided with a fire ring, and ample firewood, and had an enjoyable stay. The dogs loved having room to roam, with a little bit of woods to explore.

I appreciate the opportunity to camp at Montanna's HipCamp. The primary purpose of my visit was to camp and sleep in a safe place while I was participating in a lottery draw hunting trip at nearby Coosawhatchie WMA.
Montanna provided clear and accurate directions to the property prior to my arrival. He also gave me a heads up concerning the rough road conditions leading to his property.
I arrived later than I had planned but had no problems getting to gate at the property. It was dark and raining but the gated access was easily easily entered. I pulled in and drove down the fence line to the designated camp site, turned my truck around and parked on level ground. His wife came out and greeted me, gave me a quick but thorough orientation to the amenities.
I met Montanna the next evening after returning from my days hunt. He showed me "The Man Cave" and I have to say that it is indeed impressive. I won't spoil the surprise with details but it brought back many happy boyhood memories. Montanna took his passion from a boyhood hobby and turned it into a passionate, professional and lucrative adult hobby that he is proud to share with those fortunate to be invited in.
Since I was primarily there to hunt for 3 chilly and rainy days, I did not experience the other amenities available. I did see the nice duck pond, the tire swing hanging from the oak trees, the fire pit and picnic area and an extra bonus of hearing 3 Barred Owls talking during the night.
I would love to return again
