Enjoy Back to Nature. We are sharing with you a part of our Homestead. Very unique by its location, it is a piece of the nature that is close to everything. It is surrounded by acres of Pine Forest so enjoy the fresh air, listen to the birds, look at the wild life. We have about a dozen of chickens and a few roosters.The property is conveniently located 1 mile away from the Interstate 95, and 1 mile away from US1. 3 min drive to the grocery store( Publix).
Plenty of stuff to do around - fishing, canoeing and swimming- within 10-15 minutes to the River, Beaches and the Ocean; tons of natural preserves, parks and historic places. Tennis court, pickle ball courts and a play ground is across the street. 20-30 min to Daytona Beach or historic St.Augustine. A little over an hour to Orlando with Disney, Universal and other parks, Jacksonville or Cape Canaveral. Whatever your interest is - you can find it around - many of restaurants, wine tasting, fresh food market 7 days a week, NASCAR, Auditorium with performances, water sports, bike week, movie theater, and many more.
We have a water and electricity hook ups for 4 spots. Spaces for the boats are available also. No sewage disposal.There is a dog on the property. Dogs are ok but have to be cleaned after and be on the leash.Please no loud noise after the dark, no drugs or heavy drinking.Our guests love staying with us " We enjoyed our stay at Roxie’s place. Really great location close to the beach and grocery stores and restaurants, yet it is still in a quiet place just off the beaten path. Roxie is a wonderful host who met us upon arrival and departure to make sure all was going well. She even gave us some amazing fresh eggs from her chickens that roam freely on the land. (Be prepared for a lot of rooster crowing EARLY in the mornings). Our campsite was level and had water and electric. It was not too close to the other campers who were there and we had plenty of privacy. Star gazing was awesome! Highly recommend."

The camp site it's about an hour's bike ride to Gainesville or a 15-minute drive by car. Hawthorne is just six minutes away.

This is an active Florida Department of Agriculture hemp farm and Homestead.
Animals on-site: Outside the fenced camp area, you'll find pet cows and donkeys—all friendly and never raised for food. Feel free to feed and pet them without crossing the fence! Ducks and chickens may wander near the camping area.
If you're towing horses, they are welcome to graze within the camping area. If multiple guests have horses, we’ll guide you to a larger pasture.
Pets are welcome! Just keep them leashed near the other farm animals.

The gates remain locked and you'll have access to the lock code. Gainesville's restaurants and bars close at 2 AM, so you can enjoy a night out without worry.

If you have horses, you'll love coming to Black Horse. We are surrounded by countless trails through the forest with the trail heads sitting right on property, two barns for horses, many outdoor stalls and paddocks, wash racks, and an extra large riding arena.
There is world class fishing nearby at the St. John's River and we are right near many beautiful springs - which, if you have never spent time in a natural spring you will absolutely want to check that out! Kayaking, tubing, swimming galore in crystal clear waters. We are a 20 minute drive from the Villages which offers shopping, dining, and activities, as well as 20 minutes to historic Mount Dora which is a beautiful artsy downtown village. We are 1 hour from Daytona & New Smyrna, 1 hour from Orlando (Disney anyone?).
There is plenty to do on the ranch and nearby the ranch. You will have a blast. We'll see you by the campfire!

(Check the moonrise/moonset tables to see if there is a visible moon during your intended stay - it really is an incredible sight).
We have an amazing outdoor shower, with hot and cold running water, overlooking the lake.
The extra large soaking bathtub is available for your use for $20 per stay if there are not other campers at the time due to us only having one bathroom available. Great for relaxing, bathing kids, or a very romantic evening.
Canoe, stand up paddle board and kayak available for your use at no charge.
You can paddle to nearby Gator Joe's which is an awesome spot on the lake for great food, drinks, and live music.

Many trees on the property makes it tricky for large vehicles to maneuver, therefor we have a limit of 25 feet including tow vehicle.

Pontoon boat rentals are available down the road.
Being on the lake we do have mosquitos but they are mostly an issue at dusk and dawn for about an hour but we are out in nature so insect encounters of all kinds are to be expected.
If there is a nice breeze, which is often the case, you can enjoy the sunset from the rocker loveseat at the edge of our dock.
We also have citronella torches available for rent.
We also offer a large bundle of firewood for $10.
Campers MUST check in by 10 pm. We recommend arriving during daylight whenever possible.
It is important you understand that our property is not in the wilderness. We are NOT a commercial campground.
We have a couple of acres in a residential area and there are homes near the campsite. That being said, you will have complete privacy at your campsites as the two sites are on opposite ends of the property and you will not see me at all other than when you check in, unless you desire to do so.
Both campsites face the lake however, and you may see some fisherman out there from time to time, but I guarantee you will see much more wildlife than people.
Each site has its own fire pit.
Our guests love this place because of the lake, the incredible sunsets and moonsets over the lake, and all the incredible wildlife we have here, as you can see from the reviews.
Well behaved pets are welcome off leash as long as they are supervised and don't bother other campers. They are not allowed on the porches. Please pick up any mess that is in the path of foot traffic. There is a $20 pet fee per pet per stay. Add it under extras. Pet sitting is available for an additional charge.

We are 20 minutes from world famous Silver Springs, 20 minutes from Ocala Drive-In Movie Theater that usually shows great films for both kids and adults, and 20 minutes from the Santos Trailhead that offers world class biking and hiking paths.
Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about the people that come here that have not read the description, expecting a wilderness campground and choose to leave a negative review based on that but everyone that has read the description has loved it here and many return.

A few Campers favorite places to visit are Mount Dora Bike Trail - 2.6 miles, Kelly Park - 11 miles and Kings Landing 12 miles from farm.
We offer youth day camps on various dates, pony rides and a tour of our farm animals for an additional fee.
Reservations required in advance due to the other activities we have going on.
In 2007, we had no idea where this adventure was going to take us.
Our small urban farm was sharing our miniature animals with assisted living facilities and Neulife, where we have 3 miniature horses that live on their property.
Little by little we have evolved into more of a need to share with the community and help others with the relaxing qualities our farm and animals have to offer, we want to be able to share and better educate with hands on experiences, teach kindness, patience, confidence and help others to be the best they can be.

I have stayed on those property several times over the last two years and every time has been magnificent. Wonderful hosts, great communication, and a perfect spot for a quiet getaway with several amenities just minutes away. This is my go to for some quiet camping and beach getaway!

We absolutely LOVE this place! My wife in particular really appreciated the bathroom/shower building. So many little details and creature comforts. If we had horses I can imagine this place would be even MORE special. If we are ever in the area again we will certainly be coming back.

We had a really relaxing stay at Laura's place. The campsite felt secluded and private, which made it easy to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Waking up to the cows ( Bessy, Nutmeg, Paprika, Doris and Thunder) nearby added so much charm and made the experience feel unique.
The kayaks were a nice touch and gave us another way to enjoy the property. Laura was a wonderful host—friendly, welcoming, and easy to communicate with while still giving us plenty of privacy.
If you're looking for a quiet place to disconnect, enjoy nature, and experience a little farm life, I would definitely recommend staying here. We'd happily come back again.

Such a beautiful and peaceful location. Easy drive to Universal theme park area with a rural feel. The owners even gave us eggs on our way out - perfect for our breakfast tomorrow. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Absolutely spectacular and peaceful. We actually stayed at their newly opened section of their property and it was incredibly secluded and private. It felt like we were our in the wilderness completely by ourselves (which we love).
The deer visited us every morning and I caught a catfish off of their dock.
I had planned on kayaking but we ended up exploring some of the surrounding areas instead. There's always next time.

I've stayed at Golden Oaks Farm on Hipcamp several times, and it never disappoints. The owners are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and exceptionally well maintained. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind. I always enjoy my stays here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, scenic getaway.
One thing to keep in mind: if you have T-Mobile, you likely won't have cell service here. I'm not sure about other carriers, so it's something to check if staying connected is important to you. For me, it was actually a nice opportunity to unplug and enjoy the peaceful surroundings!

Amazing hosts. Very sweet and they even gave us free eggs from their chickens :) Not to mention it’s absolutely beautiful out here. Prettiest sunsets! everything you need is within a 15 minute drive which is huge for us. It’s also super quiet out here. We would 100 recommend staying here

Everything was wonderful. Very peaceful, clean, full of nature, and the host were amazing, very easy to talk to. There was only one other camper there while i was there, they were very nice and we had plenty of privacy. The lake was great, took the rowboat out to explore. You think you're in good shape til you gotta row a boat. Had the fire going at night, I enjoyed every minute there. If it wasn't for work I'd still be out there, but hope to go back soon.

We loved the privacy of this site! This site is a nice level gravel site in a setting that is perfect for nature lovers. We had plenty of room at the site to angle our small popup so that we had a nice view of the natural forest of bald cypress, oak, pine, palms, as well as the lake. We loved having a private dock and fire pit in an area that offered plenty of shade, with a nice breeze blowing across the lake. We thought it a very relaxing and peaceful spot! We plan to revisit!
