Weekend Trip to Lucky U Ranch

What was meant to be a mother/daughter weekend getaway has turned into a family tradition thanks to Rob and Mike’s amazing accommodations and property! I live in Florida, in fact not far from this property and yet we felt like we were deep in the woods on a gorgeous property with awesome trails. The donkeys and horses are my daughter’s favorite. Oh and the farm tour, top notch! You can tell how much Rob and Mike love their animals, with 5 star accommodations for all their animals. Every moment at Lucky U Ranch has made precious memories we will cherish forever! Rob and Mike are the bests hosts and just awesome guys! You won’t be disappointed. Cant wait to book our next trip with them!

Weekend Trip to North Shore Relic Ranch

I just had my first camping stop on my road trip and it was beyond amazing. Set up my rooftop tent and truck camp at night under the trees—everything worked perfectly. The area was quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. I had lights strung up, cooked a great steak right next to the truck, and even played some guitar by the table. It felt like home on wheels. If you’re into overlanding or just want a calm, scenic place to unwind, I totally recommend it. This spot set the tone for the rest of my journey—comfortable, functional, and full of good vibes.

2 nights at North Shore Relic Ranch

Relic Ranch is close enough to Orlando that you don’t need to drive hours to Ocala Forest, which is convenient! It was easy to access, with plain and simple directions. Camp ground is well maintained. The cows were fun to see! The mosquitoes are terrible in the summer but that’s to be expected in FL. And there’s a boat ramp with gorgeous views only half a mile from camp, which leads to Lake Apopka. I’ll be back!

Weekend Trip to Gulf Winds Wildlife Sanctuary

I can’t recommend Gulf Wind and Dona’s sanctuary enough! My son and I had planned a weekend camping outing originally scheduled at another location. We quickly realized the other location was not anywhere near what had been advertised and so I quickly contacted Dona to see if she had some last minute availability on her property. Dona was wonderfully responsive and super accommodating and so we headed over to hers as soon as possible. Our experience at Gulf Wind was beyond what we could have expected! The cabin was perfect, it was outfitted with everything we needed, and Dona also went the extra mile to bring us a firepit so we could make dinner and s’mores over the fire. Dona gave us a tour of the sanctuary and took the time to educate us on the animals and their efforts to keep them safe and healthy. My son was so thrilled to interact with these special animals and to get to know their personalities and preferences. We will absolutely be back. Diego’s cabin was the perfect size for us. Next time we come (and there will be a next time!) we will try the larger Florida Breeze cabin with more of our family to change things up! Thank you, Dona and family, for being so welcoming and accommodating. You seriously enriched my son’s experience and we appreciate what you’re doing for these amazing animals.

Weekend Trip to Find Out Farms

We LOVED this location. Remote and yet close enough to friends that we were able to enjoy a night after our festivities to relax. ****IMPORTANT**** Unless you have stayed here before, I would advise arriving before the sun goes down. With its remote location, and technically “rural Florida”, you want to be sure you don’t find yourself on someone else’s private property. Thankfully, Brian has A-MAZING neighbors who happened to come by just when we were going back to our instructions on how to get to his property. He was so kind and said “follow me” and even proceeded to call Brian for us to let him know we were coming so he could meet us at the sites. We knew we would be coming in late (which we don’t prefer) but we had never been to this part of Florida before to understand its rural location. Rural is what we prefer, hence why I booked it, and we do know what to expect…but thank God for Brian and his neighbor. Brian is living a dream I have for us one day. Waking up to the quiet and trees surrounding us, only able to see what we assume is the helpful neighbor’s adjacent property. We WILL be back. For more than one night next time. The kindness we were shown was amazing and it’s a blessing to know those people still exist in our crazy world. In the morning, seeing the kids have fun outdoors was joyful. Making their own “slip n slide” and enjoying the sunshine and outdoors with each other. Love it! Thank you Brian and family…and neighbor…for a great experience. ❤️

Slightly off the beaten path but close enough to necessities. Quiet (there is some road noise but it's absolutely not a problem). Clean. Spacious sites; you're not on top of your neighbors. Would 100% stay at this property again.

Weekend Trip to Enchanted Oaks Camp & Farm

So this is our second time staying on the farm and it won’t be our last! We love the environment. So peaceful and fairytale like. The farm animals are friendly and love being fed. The outdoor shower closest to the back of the farm are our favorites. They are bigger and have more light. The entire property has outdoor lighting which makes walking around at night beautiful. However, they aren’t always plugged in so you’ll have to find them yourself! Definitely worth the stay if you’re looking for an camping/glamping vibe. For us, we love to be one with nature so this is just right for us! It’s close to downtown Ocala and some of the local springs are just an hour away! We will for sure be back again!

Quick overnight trip to Lake Apopka North Shore. I didn't realize how close the Ranch is to the trails. Might have to make a return trip when I have more time. Everything was as described. Site was quiet and secluded with good shade. Porta potty was clean. Saw an owl, opossums and armadillo.

Tracy was very nice when she greeted us at the site, and enjoyed our time. Loved being around the animals and the goats definitely were the highlight of the stay I will say.

1 night at Happy Campers Rescue Ranch

Candid Review of Our One-Night RV Stay We spent one night in this RV and while there were some positive aspects, our experience overall was quite difficult — especially with a child. The good: The host was truly kind, responsive, and tried to help with the issues that arose. I genuinely appreciate his effort and communication. However, there were several serious concerns: • Safety for children: This is not a kid-friendly campsite. There’s an electric wire fence meant to keep animals inside the enclosure, but it’s easily accessible to children. Despite the warning signs, kids are naturally curious. My child accidentally touched the wire and received a painful electric shock, which was very distressing. • Cleanliness: When we arrived, the bed was made, but there was a strange white stain on the bedsheet — clearly visible once we lay down. That was uncomfortable and concerning. • Water and lighting issues: There was no running water at night or in the morning. The toilet didn’t flush properly and we had to pour water manually from a kettle. Several lights inside the RV also weren’t working. • Disturbing sight in the yard: Most shocking of all — there was a burned goat in the middle of the property, still smoking. My child saw the charred animal with the skull visible, and it was extremely traumatic. There was no warning or explanation, and it completely changed the tone of our stay. • Animal interaction not as pictured: We chose this place hoping for interaction with ani

We opened to the public on Labor Day 2014. Most people come to stay either in our rental cottage or in their horse trailers/RVs with their horses to ride the awesome trails in the 20,000+ acre adjacent Croom Forest. However, because our ranch is so peaceful, many stay here without horses just to enjoy the peace and quiet. There are many opportunities to recreate in the area, including outstanding mountain and road biking, OHVing, hiking, golfing, and canoeing/kayaking. Many full-time and working RVers stay for extended periods. Note that our camping area is small and intimate, so you will be close to other campers. We have 5 30-amp hookups, and 2 50-amp hookups; if you need 50-amp service, please request it. Note that a minimum of a 2-night stay will typically be required on weekends, especially during our busy season. WiFi is available, but we call it "Country WiFi" since it sometimes can be slow and may or may not be accessible from where you are parked; also, Verizon cell service in our area is terrible. If internet access is important to you, we suggest having your own hotspot or internet service (many working RVers have Starlink). Note that GPS can be very mean in our rural area; make sure your turn off Highway 50 is onto paved High Corner Road, which is 2 miles west of I-75 (if GPS tries to turn you down unpaved, dead-end roads, DO NOT LISTEN..you will get stuck!).

Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando. A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. We are a close distance to many racing, livestock, boating and fishing events. We have no problem accommodating whatever you’re towing! Whether you'd like a leisurely day on the river or an adventure in the Gulf, there are plenty of boating options nearby. Be sure to make it back to the property in time to enjoy amazing sunsets that bring peace and tranquility to your experience. Our neighbors, JG Ranch, offers U- Pick Fruit and Vegetables or a great selection of local harvest at their roadside stand. This 10-acre property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires together out there. I've recently moved back home with my own family and as much as we enjoy the land for ourselves we'd love to share it. Any profit from hosting campers will help us maintain our sustainable farm that we're hoping to expand onto Smokey Acres. Just in! Our dirt road has been repaved. Our farm is off the beaten path surrounded by mossy oaks and lots of shade. If you are having a rough week, load up and relax on our working farm filled with miniature horses and numerous other adorable miniature animals that will be sure to put a smile on your face. Pack your camping gear, tents, vans or RVs and find peace away from the traffic and everyday stress. There is plenty of nature and you can take a long stroll to clear your head. Mount Dora is across the main street less than 5 minutes away. Our antique town is an amazing experience to explore with lots of history and complete with quaint shops and restaurants, boating and lots of things to do. Rennigers Antique Center is located right up the street (less than 5 minutes away) for some great picking. We are conveniently close to the Central Florida Attractions and the beach on both east and west coasts within an hour drivep. A few Campers favorite places to visit are Mount Dora Bike Trail - 2.6 miles, Kelly Park - 11 miles and Kings Landing 12 miles from farm. We offer youth day camps on various dates, pony rides and a tour of our farm animals for an additional fee. Reservations required in advance due to the other activities we have going on. In 2007, we had no idea where this adventure was going to take us. Our small urban farm was sharing our miniature animals with assisted living facilities and Neulife, where we have 3 miniature horses that live on their property. Little by little we have evolved into more of a need to share with the community and help others with the relaxing qualities our farm and animals have to offer, we want to be able to share and better educate with hands on experiences, teach kindness, patience, confidence and help others to be the best they can be. Come visit our friendly donkey (Henry) and Scottish Highland cow (Wallace). You will hear roosters, braying and some mooing early in the morning. The Withlacoochee Trail is a mile east at the end of the road. This is a biking, hiking and equestrian trail. Florida Classic Park is roughly 2 miles north on Lockhart. The Croom Recreational Area is also 3 miles away. If you are traveling with farm animals, we do have (2) 2-acre cross-fenced paddocks available for an additional fee. Our property is located in Morriston, just off 41 in a quiet residential neighborhood with wide, well paved and maintained roads. Acreage is not fully fenced so drive up into the yard as you see fit while respecting these priceless old oaks. At this time we have potable water via a well system on site at 3 locations throughout the property but no electric or sewer is available yet. If you are planning to run a generator it must be turned off during quiet hours (11pm-7am) unless it is quiet enough not to disturb the neighbors. Dump stations can be found at the multiple truck stops off i75.
