Welcome to Smokey Acres! This property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires out there. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando. A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. We are a close distance to many racing, livestock, boating and fishing events. We have no problem accommodating whatever you’re towing! Whether you'd like a leisurely day on the river or an adventure in the Gulf, there are plenty of boating options nearby. Be sure to make it back to the property in time to enjoy amazing sunsets that bring peace and tranquility to your experience. Our neighbors, JG Ranch, offers U- Pick Fruit and Vegetables or a great selection of local harvest at their roadside stand. This 10-acre property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires together out there. I've recently moved back home with my own family and as much as we enjoy the land for ourselves we'd love to share it. Any profit from hosting campers will help us maintain our sustainable farm that we're hoping to expand onto Smokey Acres. Just in! Our dirt road has been repaved. So no worries about a bumpy drive in!

The house has an unbelievable 130 feet of water front that looks as natural as it was when the house was built in 1949. The library has a small selection of books however there is table seating, a sleeping area, and wireless internet available for those who want to get away but need to still be connected. There is also a large capacity washer and dryer set up in the breezeway for all the clothes that will need to be washed for all your outdoor adventures. The home is within walking distance to an outdoor waterfront restaurant that hosts, on occasion, live music and serves your basic grill style food which includes gator. In addition, the home is adjacent to a full service marina which is great for boating enthusiasts. Being adjacent to the marina renters who bring their own boat, with insurance, have the option to use the Sanford Boat Works facilities which includes their boat ramp, covered docking amenities, fuel dock, and their low key clubhouse that has a well maintained pool and gaming area. The use of the Sanford Boats Works facilities is an additional cost that is paid directly to the Marina. Information can be provided on request. Although the use of the marina is a boon there are public boat ramps not far from the home and more than adequate parking for more than one trailer on the property; therefore, everyone can enjoy the river, Lake Monroe, and even Lake Jessup. In addition, there is room for a family to park their RV without obstructing the view from the home. The possibilities are endless for family fun vacation!

This sunny central region has everything a camper could want: white-sand shores stretch along the Gulf Coast to the west of the Gulf Coast; wild beaches and barrier islands dot the Atlantic Coast to the east; and vast Lakelands encircle the hub of Orlando. Time your camping trip for fall through spring if you can, or bring your RV—the summer heat can be unbearable for tent campers.

Where to go

Orlando and the Lake Country

Orlando’s theme parks might pull in the crowds, but the city is also surrounded by lakes and forests, affording plenty of options for fishing, paddling, and lakeside camping. Explore the hiking and horseback riding trails around Lake Apopka, cool off swimming and kayaking at Wekiwa Springs State Park, or seek out a tranquil campsite in Seminole State Forest. Further north, Ocala National Forest has 12 developed campgrounds and miles of backcountry camping.

Florida Heartlands

Florida’s rural heartlands stretch north and west of Lake Okeechobee, the state’s largest freshwater lake. This is the spot to escape the crowds, whether parking your RV on a farmland Hipcamp, hiking and paddling the wetlands of Lake Kissimmee State Park, or fishing for bass on Lake Placid.

Atlantic Coast

Just a 40-minute drive from Orlando, the Canaveral National Seashore has some of the best backcountry camping along the Atlantic Coast, where you can boat or kayak to remote islands and pitch your tent right on the beach. Further north, there are plenty of RV parks and campgrounds between New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach, and Palm Coast, with easy access to the beaches, dunes, and lagoons.

Gulf Coast

Urban campers have plenty of options around Tampa, the gateway to Central Florida’s Gulf Coast. Pitch your tent by white-sand beaches at Fort de Soto Park or Cayo Costa State Park, go fishing and hiking at Little Manatee River State Park, or enjoy some of Florida’s only whitewater rafting at Hillsborough River State Park.
