Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 owned micro-farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible. As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. Our primary program is to serve area youth with agricultural education and the opportunities to work with our goats. All proceeds from bookings go toward our programming. Please note that February and March is transition time on the farm when we are planting new pastures and working on projects so photos might be different during those 2 months! It is our goal to create a space where our visitors can have fun and learn about the animals who share that space. We also strive to serve as a valuable resource for first time goat owners. **MARCH HAPPENINGS** The countdown has started for Scallop Season. In case you are wanting to know more about that - go visit our website: www.cabinsonthecorner.com. Fishing continues to be HOT!! Recent out of state guests spent a few nights and fished from some docks at one of the Marinas. They scored two keeper Speckled Sea Trout and two Blue Crabs. A repeat family at the campground caught some keepers recently - Redfish, two trout and a flounder. Fishing continues to be the draw during the off season. We have a Fish Cleaning House on site to clean your fish. While we wait for Scallop Season we are still welcoming folks from all over the country. Some are still traveling further south in Florida. Some are heading home (Wyoming, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio). We offer three Amish built log cabins at our RV Campground. Each cabin has a front porch, one bedroom with queen size bed and a set of bunk beds in the living area. Two burner stove top, full size microwave and refrigerator. Full size bathroom with large walk-in shower. Fully furnished with towels and linens as well as dishes, cooking utensils and coffee pot. Smart TV with Dish Network. Wi-Fi is included. The Campground is fenced and gated and we are pet friendly. There is a laundry facility on site for the guests. There is a fire pit if you want to relax. In the summer we have a stock tank pool (opens in April) to cool off after a long day on the water. Steinhatchee is located in Taylor County Florida along the Gulf of America. Inshore and offshore fishing is year-round. Scallop season is June 15 to Labor Day. More than 20 springs are located within 45 minutes of Steinhatchee. Too numerous to count are the Florida Wildlife Management areas that are accessible by car and allow for bird watching and animal siting of deer and wild boar. Steinhatchee River is a kayaking, fishing and paddle boarding experience. The local restaurants/Marinas are within five minutes of the campground. Live music is available at the restaurants.

From this location It's not uncommon to see wildlife. A wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee or unwind in the evening bug free. Take a swing on the open porch, sit riverside at either our propane fire pit or have a campfire (firewood provided) which is also along the river nestled in the woods. We encourage guests to use the outdoor seating areas for the ultimate relaxation experience and to find your favorite spot! Bar-B-Q with our easy-to-use propane grill (utensils and grill pans provided). Our fish station makes cleaning your catch a breeze! Also available a full-size fridge located on the screened porch in addition to the mini fridge in the cottage. Guest access Large open deck with ladder access to the floating dock which is perfect for mooring your boat or launching kayaks. Kayaks are available for guest use. Provided are (2) single person (1) fishing single person and (1) two-person tandem kayaks with life vest. We offer a complimentary shuttle service for the 5-mile downstream Aucilla River to the Gulf of Mexico trip. This can be scheduled after your check-in. Use of the kayaks are at your "own risk" with no host liability. We encourage guest to enjoy the common areas porches at back of main house. Camp chairs are provided and can be used at the fire pit and along the riverbank. A public boat ramp is located within 300 yards north of the property and we have ample storage for you boat trailer during your stay. Other things to note: House rules for children staying at the cottage. We gladly accept children with the understanding that all children thirteen and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times outside the cottage due to its proximity over the river and being in a very natural wildlife environment. This is a strict requirement that will be compulsory. This is for the safety of your children while staying at the River Rise Cottage. We are pet friendly but do require that your pets are not left alone in the cottage. We have different size crates available, and these are provided at no extra charge in the event that you should leave the cottage and choose not to take your fur baby with you. There is a $50 non-refundable pet deposit fee for 1 -2 pets. A guest’s animal must not be: Out of control Unhouse broken. Left alone at the listing without prior approval. The coop was a perfect little size for a solo traveler. I stayed on a cold night and it was warm and cozy. There’s a little trail close to the coop that goes down the hillside to the lake. The goats were so cute! I walked back for just a little and they were all so funny and friendly. I enjoyed my over night stay and felt very safe but secluded when I wanted to be.

Everything about this place is a dream! We went for my birthday celebration and completely fell in love. From the first few moments after arrival, I could feel my whole system winding down and relaxing. We loved visiting the spring at the bottom of the dock, and enjoying the river view in the many cozy spaces provided. The kitchen was fully stocked so we could make lots of yummy meals too! The beds were nice and comfy, and the hanging bed outside was a special treat. It was so easy to pop over to the nearby springs to take a dip, and coming back to build a fire was a perfect way to end the day. We will absolutely be back, and soon! Thank you Kelli :)

Gray farm and lived the goats and their protector Tahoe. A great playmate for our pup Bailey after a long car ride. The Coop was quaint and quiet. Felt very safe with Tahoe on night duty. We loved our cinnamon sourdough loaf and soap! Roosters crowed in the morning- not the best at telling time 😊but sweet nevertheless. All the animals were friendly. Got to see several newborn goats!

We had the absolute best time! All of the animals were very friendly and the Coop was adorable and perfect for us. It’s right by where you park your car and right by the bathroom/shower. The A/C works great and the bed and bedding was so comfy that we didn’t want to get up! The common room and fire pit area were gray also. There are barbecue grills to use and places to sit outside as well as a microwave, coffee area, TV with an Xbox and couches to lounge on. The property is right on the lake with plenty of woods to explore. I wished we lived closer so we could volunteer, I really can’t say enough about it and loved this experience so much!

Weekend Trip to Cabins On The Corner - Steinhatchee

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Steinhatchee, don’t hesitate and BOOK with Beth! The cabins are cute and perfect for small families! We had the best time and loved the interactions we had with the couple of other guests that were also there. Beth and her husband are the sweetest most hospitable people! So accommodating and flexible! I promise you won’t regret booking here! We can’t wait to come back.

2 nights at Goat House Farm

The Goat House Farm provided the perfect yet affordable getaway for my partner and I. The farm consisted of friendly goats, adorable chickens, and a dog named Tobi that made us feel right at home. The location of the farm was great, as we were able to go to various springs and state parks during our 2-night stay. The cabin included all the necessities and was comfortable. The host, Melissa, was very sweet and welcoming. It was a short hike to the lake that provided even more beautiful scenery. We quickly made friends with the orange cat that hung out outside the cabin, played fetch with Tobi, kicked our legs up outside, and made the most of our ideal summer evenings on the farm.
